I see. I was considering dropping by at the only Daiso in Singapore tml to pick up 5 different Daiso discs and was considering which to get Cutipop is a definite must for me. It's a SDG2 dollar shop Daiso, meaning everything on sale there sells for SDG2, including all the MDs.

a trick is to assign those songs u want to be under Bach with the album "Bach" and Mozart with "Mozart" That way, u can use group play to listen to songs in that group, and album play to listen to only Bach or Mozart.

Without the wrapper, are there any pictures of cats and dogs on the MD itself?

Could only find those Cat and dog seris in Singapore. Can't find these. Will go and look again. I just love this design!

Strange, i bought mine in Singapore and got the Europe version. I can't seem to find any of the purple Hi-MD discs. All were completely replaced by the Europe version. Lets take a look at some of the photos i took, although photos of this has already been posted. Just bought mine today.

Ic. Nv noticed that it is possible to do that. Still hoping for a Hi-MD plug-in for media players like Winamp and WMP And i really really hope the next version of Sonic Stage allows me to import OGG files.

i want money so that i can buy it! Haha. Can anyone weight the pros and cons of buying this unit for me? Thank you.

Hey! I experienced that problem too on my EX81. So i guess the same problem goes through all the EX family members. Recently i went to Sony Service centre and they listen patiently to my problem, and then prompty refused to give me a replacement on the grounds that i sent in my unit after 9mnths of purchase, while they only allow replacement within the first 6months are so after purchase. What is more ridicious is that when i argued that Sony didn't mention the 6months notice anywhere, the guy at the centre told me that Sony is only doing the replacement "out of good will". Well, i'm stumped for words. Went home and placed a black tape over the spoilt area.

Nah. I think its a matter of reading careful. I read and discovered that Sony mentioned popular file formats like Mp3, wma, wav are SUPPORTED. While it says that Atrac3plus can be PLAYED on the unit. They are just playing with words. As consumers, we should also be more careful.

Sorry, i sold it to the Association of Enrage iPod Consumers.

Was using a Hi-MD 1GB disc. I don't know about the power problem, but my friend was able to connect his Creative Zen with no problem.

And mine can chop up iPod nanos into small small pieces.

I would like a winamp plug-in for transfering songs to my Hi-MD. And iTunes can't cut it. Does anyone know that if you transfer songs to your iPod, then delete those songs from your harddrive, iTunes will automatically delete those songs from your iPod the next time you plug it in. So i must have a copy of the songs in my iPod on my computer. This is so irritating. I gave my iPod to my girlfriend and ask her to use iPod plug-in for winamp. For myself, i stay with Hi-MD.

Did someone mentioned that plugging the Hi-MD device onto a MAC will cause a removable device to show up on a mac machine? I tried with my NH-MZ900 but it didn't work. My unit shows that it is connected to a player but my MAC shows nothing.
-
ic. thank you. It would be great if it uses standard Mini-USB ~ USB that most mp3 players and digital cameras use too. Then i won't have to go through all the trouble just to get a replacement when need arise. Also, its pricing of USD499 is a tad expensive. I'm only a student now.

Not too sure about that, but I myself was using MDR-EX81LP and it rocks. The bass is superb and everything sounds so "together". I'm not sure if you get what i mean, but mark my word for its a wonderful bud. The only problem is it has a lousy rubber insulation on the wires that "rot" after a few months. Alot of users on Audiocubes reported that problem on their comments page. I'm not sure if the cable problem exists on EX51, but i'm sure it would sound wonderful. Just my 2 cents worth.
-
ic. thanks. I was considering saving up to buy this. But the fact that it uses a cable not freely available puts me off abit. What if the cable rusts and spoil? What if i lost it?

Earlier on there is one model (I forgot the model name) of second generation Hi-MD where there were some problem with displaying the "keyboard" that appears whenever you want to rename your track. So Sony asked those with affected units to check in at the Sony Service Centre for firmware upgrade. So i think chances are we are unable to upgrade the firmware ourselves, although it can be done. Maybe that has something to do with the EPROM they use. If you like to have a device with tonnes of firmware update regularly, get iAudio Mp3 players from Cowan.

Thanks people for the insightful explaination. Ha. Its not a new player, bought it since the beginning of this year. Just that i have somehow gotten hold of a bunch of Ni-NH AA rechargeables so i was wondering if i could use it for my MD. =D

what kind of cable does this thing use to connect to the computer?

Sorry if similar thread already exist here. Was hunting around this forum for around an hour but couldn't find anything that has to do with what i am about to ask. Hm so here goes: I owned a Sony MZ-NH900 Hi-MD player, which comes with a battery case. The included instruction manual stated that the battery case is for use with dry batteries (those akaline non-rechargeable stuffs). I would like to ask if its ok to use rechargeable Ni-NH or Ni-Cd AA batteries in the battery case attached to my unit, together with the internal gumstick battery? Anyone tried? Will it cause an explosion if i don't use dry batteries in the dry battery case?

Sony is aiming to revive its MiniDisc format yet again with the XM-C37 Hi-MD player, which features a 305 hour battery life in LP4 mode, the longest runtime ever for a portable audio device. This provides enough playback time for close to two-weeks continuous playback. For those who run short of time, the player will deliver 15 hours runtime from 20 minutes of charging time, while a full charge takes just over 2.5 hours. The player can run on disposable batteries as well as by battery pack, however the maximum playback time is based on a combination of both batteries. More here
