Regarding battery, I took all the pics in the NDP2006 and Rabbits folder using the same battery in the same day. In other words, I'm able to squeeze about about 100 photos in one charge. I'm pretty amazed myself. (I took the last 20 photos when the battery indicator was blinking. Even then, I had not yet fully exhaust the battery - no "batt low" sign) And here are some newly added photos taken during the Singapore Fireworks Festival. http://thewicked.sgblogging.com/gallery/fireworks/ Hard to time properly with DH10P, and firework happen all too quickly, so there are only a few "good" shots. Another note, other than the Singapre Fireworks Festival photos, all the other photos were actually highly compressed by picassa (down to around 40~100kb each). Still look pretty good, don't they? Those who are still unable to make up their mind about DH10P should be able to now Typically, the resolution of the monitor is set to 1024*768, while 1.3MP's resolution is actually 1280*960. You can scale it down to make it look sharper and use photos taken for a perfect wallpaper. Actually, for normal consumers, 2MP is the most they will ever need. All those increasing MPs were mostly marketing ploys by manufacturers to persuad people to upgrade their cameras to higher MPs when the one they owned was good enough. I would say that if you are not going to print your photos much, 1.3MP is more than enough (enough to use as wallpaper!) Sony would have made my day if there is an optical zoom function. Digital zoom just can't cut it. Sorry for my poor grammer. I never bother to learn it from my incompetent teacher

Wonder how the camera on DH10P perform under different situation and lighting? My photo gallery here, http://thewicked.sgblogging.com/gallery/ contains many (well and badly taken) photos using my trusty DH10P (except folder "0205" and "NDP2006 (2)"). Worth a look! Note: In NDP2006 folder, many of the fireworks photo were overexposed because I forgot to set it:( Enjoy! I would say most photos look very good considering it is taken using a 1.3MP camera. Comments and feedbacks welcomed.

the battery getting stuck issue occurs when using geniue sony batts as well..

It sports a 1.2M cable.. more suitable for players that you put into your pocket.

I own a pair of Koss PortaPro and this baby. Both sounded fantastic over my DH10P and NH-MZ900. Although the EP630's treble sounded a little to harsh sometimes, I high recommend it for people looking for a pair of cheap in-ears and for use in places like library, as there is virtually no sound leak once you put these in your ears. Enjoy! Photos taken using DH10P. More photos here: http://weikiatblog.blogspot.com/2006/08/cr...-pictorial.html

la.. it is a tft screen. tft screens are most battery consuming of all. How to look out for tft screen: generally screen is black when turned off.
-
i would love it if those md engineers at sony all pull out and start their own company producing md devices. that would be sweet.
-
so what's the brand of the batts?
-
no idea. anyone with sparkplug, comment? btw I just bought the EP630. I feel its much better than Sony EX81. Also a warning to all those buying Sony InEars, the cables may rot after a few months of usage (mine after 9mnths). Who will want to bring earphones with its wires exposed to the street? Not me. Money down the drain.

my friend has KSC75. They sound pretty similar to my porta pro...

Was looking into buying a cheap and convenient IEM, and came across Koss The Plug and Spark Plug. Since they are similarly priced, I was wondering if there a difference between the 2 (in terms of sound). I've done some research and got pretty mixed comments about these plugs. Any inputs? The only other IEM I owned was a Sony EX81, before the wire started to rot.

hm... one of my md with metal shutter went out of shape without me doing muchto it. (one disc unusable just like that). Maybe if they make a plastic-metal hybrid life will be much better.

http://www.audiocubes.com/product/Maxell_2...749493868d991dd Looks pretty cute. Plan on giving them to my girlfriend who is currently using my NH900. However, the price's a little steep. Anyone have any recommendations on buying cheap and cutely designed MDs? International shipment prefered. (Living in Singapore).

Added support to use custom icons for your Hi-MD players when they appear in My Computer. Icons used were all by Ishiyoshi. No need to create the autorun.inf yourself! http://weikiat.ikueb.com/tinycomp.html

yoz guyz.. I made a portable application shortcut launcher for my Hi-MD, so i won't have to browse through the file directory everytime i want to run something. I also added the wonderful icons here, and my program will automatically detect if the removable drive it is residing on is a Hi-MD. Press "Install on this drive" and my application will allow you to chose hi-md icon you want and automatically create the autorun.inf file. oops. the url is here: http://weikiat.ikueb.com/tinycomp.html

You are welcome. Wondering how many Hi-MD users actually use it to store portable applications.

Made this program to launch the portable applications and files on my MD. Browsing manually through the file directories is such a pain when Hi-MD is so slow. Anyone interesting in trying it out? It is optimized for Hi-MD use, as it does not load the icons of exe files when displaying the shortcuts, unlike other similar applications. (Reduces loading time and less noise from your MD Details: TinyComp is a simple tool to start user defined applications designed to run portable applications and files on a removable drive without the need to manually explore and browse through the drive. Shortcuts in TinyComp are relative; it can launch the applications correctly even when the drive letters have changed. TinyComp also detects the DCIM folder, providing quick access to photos on camera devices. Taking text-based notes and on the fly editing and running of .bat files also supported. It can even auto run when removable-drive is plugged into Windows XP. Just activate the "Install on this drive option" http://weikiat.ikueb.com/tinycomp.html

when you install TinyComp on your thumb drive, this is what you will see whenever you plug that drive to any WinXP computers: http://weikiat.ikueb.com/files/shot2.jpg Press, ok, and the program will run. http://weikiat.ikueb.com/files/shot.jpg On the menu on the right, you can quickly run any files or programs on your thumbdrive by clicking on the shortcuts, without having to manually browse through your thumbdrive to get to them. If the removable drive is actually a camera, there will be an additional menu "View Photos" where TinyComp will automatically launch the folder where all the photos are.

Hi guys! I'm sick and tired of having to manually open and browse around my hi-MD everytime just to get to the directories where the photos or my portable programs are stored. The reading speed is very slow and makes everything a chore. So I came up with a program, TinyComp, that will allow you to create shortcuts, save notes on the fly, and will add itself into the Autoplay Option List (appears whenever you pop in a removable drive on Windows XP) I've created this program for my own use but I thought it would be nice to share with other Hi-MD users experiencing my frustrations. For those using DH10P, TinyComp will automatically display an additional shortcut to link to your photo folder. This program works with other removable drives as well. Details: TinyComp allows you to quickly access programs installed on your removable drive through shortcuts without the need to browse through the folders and directories to get to your program. With TinyComp, you can also take down notes into your removable drive on the fly without any need to run any other programs. If the removable drive is used in cameras, TinyComp will auto detect and provides you with a shortcut to quickly access the folder where the photos are stored. Generation and running of .bat files is also possible from within TinyComp for advanced users. To top it off, when you select the "Install on this drive" option, TinyComp will automatically generate an autorun.inf on the root directory of your removable drive. You can then run TinyComp convenient from the Windows XP Autoplay list the next time your plug your removable drive in. Simply copy and paste TinyComp.exe and tinycomp.ico into any removable drive, and run TinyComp.exe. Screenshot http://weikiat.ikueb.com/files/shot.jpg Program http://weikiat.ikueb.com/files/TinyComp.zip Thanks for trying!

I want Atrac3Plus to be "open" just like ogg and flac. "Imagine the possiblities."

I understand. But still, i feel that due to the fact that the battery in iPod is not (officially) replaceable, it will go dead in a maximum of 5 years. MD will last longer than that? I hope. My oldest MD unit was only 1.5 years old so I donno how long an MD unit last. The technician in my school used to own the first MD model, he said the recording feature broke in 5 years and he was only able to playback after that, and i was abit shocked. Certainly MD units can last much longer? PS: Those broken ipods were all nanos.

not buying the originals *may* meant a certain death for my precious DH10P. hehe.

Interesting to see most will be going for iaudio. How does the sound compare to MD? I do know that iaudio products pack tonnes of audio enhancing features. My friend owned a G3.
