  1. Ok here is my problem. I brought an MD deck for my stereo system. But I dont want to put it beside the stereo because then alsmost all the space on my dresser is GONE. So I want to put the deck UNDER the stereo and elevate the stereo above the surface to do so. But now I need to find an ELEGANT stand to do so tht will be able to take the weight of the stereo. Not ugly black plastic or something. More like wood or glass with silver legs or something. Anyone know where I can get something like this? [attachmentid=1944]
  2. Unfortunantly the DS-HMD1 has been discontinued and is no where to be found. Anyone know where one can get a hold of one? I even tried Japan Direct and even with their prices they said they had no more despite being listed on their site.
  3. Pretty crappy compared to the Onyko. Sure the LAM-X1 is one hell of a looker HOWEVER it has no tuner period. Compare that with the world band tuner of the X-B8 and well the fact that the LAM-X1costs double even through Price Japan and well its your choice. In terms of quality though I'd assume bothj would be similar as they are both Made in Japan. Not sure though if the LAM-X1 can copy CD text though. And hey richyhu, what's your source of info that this unit does indeed use Atrac Type-S? I looked through the manual and could not find any info about it.
  4. Hey richyhu, I'm thinking of getting this now instead of a deck. But I have some questions. Fisrts off, any idea what version of ATRAC this uses? And is it cabable of copying the CD text information to the Minidisc? Thanks,

    Hi-MD > 1GB ?

Hey, when you say "current recording technology" do you mean that any new discs up to 5GB would be compatible with existing HI-MD equipment? Thanks,
  6. Just wondering. The problem is the manual says only use NH-10WM. But I think even better play back time would be a bonus. Now I am going to be getting a real battery if I did, no eBay for me straight from Audiocubes which sells the 14 for a very reasonable price. Now I heard of swelling whn using a 14WM in a device originally equiped with 10WM. Is this not caused by a fake battery? Or is this also possible even when using a real 14WM in a 10WM device? Now I know about external chargers but this isn't really feasible for this unit since it defeats the purpose of the built in speaker charging dock. So anyone know if getting a genuine NH-14WM for this unit is a good idea or a bad idea? Thanks,
  7. Hi, I'll sell you my Sony MZ-R50 if you want. Pretty good condition just some wear marks mostly on the bottom but still overall good condition. Made in Japan out of magnesium so build wise alot better than some of the newer but cheaper players. I mean if you want a strongly built player that you can beat, this is probably for you. I mean not only can you have it now until you get a new pricy unit but you can still use it after as your other player since you wont need to really care much about it. Comes with remote (which has wear ofcourse since it is subject to the elements) but comes with accessories originaly included like adaptor, external battery, headphones and digital optical cable and Sony RK-G129 analog mini to RCA splitter. It comes in its original box. Send me a PM if you like with an offer. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-R50.html
  8. Having missed out on purchasing the now discontinued Sony DS-HMD1, do you think they discontnied it because of a new one coming out or do you think that is the first and last HI-MD drive to ever be made from Sony? I was thinking maybe they would have discontinued it to make a new one with the new features of the MZ-RH1/M200 such as USB 2.0 for faster transfers, uploading of legacy tracks and compatibility with that upcoming Mac program. What do you guys think?
  9. Ya, in the picture those ARE MDR-E931SPs not the el cheapo 808s. However sorry, I am not interested in them without the foam pads. They are USELESS without the foam pads. However if you can aquire those foam pads (the come with the cheap $10 Sony earbuds) then those E931SPs will become a VERY good set of headphones for the price. I still can't believe how Sony cheapened out and stopped provinding the foam pads which probably cost them 0.00001 cents per pair with new units since the late 90s and now only standalone earbuds come with them.
  10. I remember Sony once made a storage rack for Minidiscs and it was very unique. Tried to find it on the net but couldn't even find the model number. Anyone remember what it was?
  11. A conditional yes. Have they ever been used or plugged in? Do they come with the foam pads? And arent the model that come with it the MDR-E931SP?
  12. Ooh, I think I found a little trick that will tell you where a unit is made in. However minidisc.org needs to have the manual. Go to the manual section and open up the PDF manual. Wherever it says it's printed, I guess that's where it is Made In. The MZ-E810SP says Printed In Japan. However maybe that's a manual from an older model. Do they ever switch production over to another factory for the same model for MiniDisc players or are indivdual models always made in one factory for the entire production run?
  13. Oh, I have one more question that may influence my decision. Would a Sony MD deck and a Sony Microsystem share the same remote codes? Like if I press power on my stereo's remote will it turn on my MD deck, etc...? Would they interfere with each other like that or will one remote not bother the other sytem? No definantly not the MD-133. Remember it's all about the size issue for me. If I didn't have a space concern I'd get the much cheaper full size Sony MDLP decks.
  14. Ok, I just got price quotes for both the Sony MDS-S500 and Onyko MD-105FX. The price difference is a whopping $3. So since these are the only two compact MD decks currently available which should I get? I'd prefer the Sony if it wasn't for the HI-MD. As for the Onyko the thing that troubles me is it is a componant of a larger Onyko stereo system and thus is designed to interoperate with it. I do not have the Onyko system and I am fearing some interoperability issues running with my Sony microsystem. That's why I'm leaning towards the Sony despite the lack of HI-MD. Whats the chance that Sony will ever update the S500 to like an S600 that will add HI-MD in the same compact form factor?
  15. Thinking of buying one for a protable play only unit, does anyone know where it is made in? Thanks,
  16. Really that's awesome. Is an english manual posted on the net? That would answer alot of questions for me. P.S> It can read and write ATRAC3plus correct?
  17. Ok, but what version of ATRAC does Onyko use. Sony currently uses ATRAC DSP Type-S (which is the newest version for ATRAC3 and contains the latest version of ATRAC SP Type R). I know there are older versions of SP before Type-R: 5.0, 4.5, 4.0 etc... Standard SP recordings for me are very important and I just want to know what ATRAC version Onyko currently employs.
  18. Ok, I need a compact MD deck to put beside my Sony Micro-System CMT-ED2U. It's an older unit about 6 years old but a really high quality unit. My Sony System has RCA in and outs as well as an optical out so it would be great to hook up a compact MD deck to it since I will easily be able to record off the Cassette, CD and radio and be able to play back MDs through its "MD" input. Now the compact ones that are available off Audiocubes is the Sony MDS-S500 and the Onyko MD-105FX. The advantages with the Sony is: it's $20 cheaper as well as it has "ATRAC Type-R DSP", it's a Sony the inventor of MD, I guess it also has the Sony "signature sound" that's the reference for MD and I've read that Sony decks have the best DACs? However the BIG negative about it vs the Onyko is HI-MD support. However at the current moment I do NOT have a single HI-MD device or even a HI-MD disc. So which should I get? Would the Oynko have as good sound as the Sony? I see people here are still waiting around for a Sony HI-MD deck even though it looks that they may never ever release one. So with that bleak information if the Oynko is any good than why are people still waiting for a Sony deck?
  19. Ok, I've decided I bneed to have a unit with a built in speaker and mic. Now after some research I came across three models from Sony that have this. One is a clearly obsolete model without MDLP. However there are two, both still avvailble bnew on eBay that I need to figur out whoich is better. The MZ-B100 is more expensive but the MZ-B10 is newr. But which is better. Thanks,
  20. http://bssc.sel.sony.com/BroadcastandBusin...83&id=84320 There ya go! Seems to come with the HI-MD Music transfer software for the Mac!
  21. Ok, thinking about it myself instead of an EH70 but my question is is the voltage universal like the EH70? Thanks,
  22. What's up with that but it seems its back on the site and available for sale again. Is this a mistake?
  23. Not really. Look at this one. $10 US with shipping. A bargain but is it fake? http://cgi.ebay.ca/New-Sony-RM-MC38EL-CD-M...1QQcmdZViewItem
  24. I mean look at it. $2 for a remote from China? Are these genuine or after making fake Sony Memory Sticks and battaries have they figured out how to make fake remotes? http://search.ebay.ca/search/search.dll?so...o=&saprchi=
  25. He actually has now even run out of the black ones. However I still would only get a silver one
