Lol, Yea the Smell of Ma-xg 1991 edition was Funny Maxell had Metal vertex and Sony had SuperMetalMaster still i found Ma-xg to be superior likewise with Minidisc Tdk Pro was the best

As of today the legendary AXIA website is totaly gone forwarding you to a message that Axia products and Axia name is discontinued.: http://www.axia.jp Axia website was in past known for its yellow color and the latest year had changed to White with a big flash animation Still, You can see the discontinued Minidisc and other Axia products on the Fujifilm website here: http://fujifilm.jp/personal/recordingmedia/index.html Now it is clear the AXIA is no more Axia 1997-2006 R.i.p

as previous stated Fuji (Axia in japan) has discontiued Minidisc media and Other have heavely reduced Minidisc blanks to just around 3 models (like Tdk and maxell did recently) now we talking about the japanesee marked. Recently i got a confirmation from Fuji in japan that they will continue with Fuji MD in europe but stop with them in japan. I also got an email from HHB UK that HHB will continue with MD in 2007 and in the future. VICTOR Japan by email told me They will continue with Minidisc blanks and release new minidisc in 2007 (Not sure if this change if Kenwood buyup jvc-victor ) Sony refuses to answer question about future so what Sony will do is a Mystery. Tdk keep reducing the Minidisc line to their latest products but are still producing md. From what i know this are the MD still in production Japan: - Aeon:TOPVALU (Not sure but think Aeon stores in japan still sell Topvalu MD for japanesee marked) - Avox/primemedia (Acording primemedia AVOX Md will be sold and primemedia will be named avox later on) - DAISO (Daiso 100yen stores still produce Daiso minidisc but fewer) - VICTOR/JVC japan (Victor still produce minidisc) - MAXELL JAPAN (still produce Minidisc) -Panasonic (has some old-school Md blanks that they refuse to discontinue) -SONY (has many minidisc blanks) -TDK (Tdk stills sells many nice looking Minidisc like HO and WA) Mostly is Maxell, Sony and TDK minidisc being sold in Japan Europe: Aiwa blanks (Sold in austria quite limited not sure if still produced) BESTMEDIA (sold mainly in germany when stock is out it will be discontinued) FUJI (Fuji Europe still produce Minidisc but they are old school, Fuji europe will continue with Minidisc) HHB (HHB in uk will continue with Minidisc) JVC (Rare this days but in countries like Spain or France still avaible) LASER (Still avaible they are from australia) MAXELL (Maxell europe still do Minidisc here in europe, Euro-twinkle is the one being sold) -SONY (Still has Minidisc in europe) -TDK (Has Euro-ho color minidisc in europe still producing) - TNB France (STill produce Minidisc) Mostly is Sony and TDK mindisc being sold in Europe Usa: MEMOREX: the one selling most MD in usa apart of Sony (still producing acording website) SONY: Sony still sell md blanks in usa NASHUA: Nashua still has MD in usa but they are rare. Probaly mostly Sony or Memorex Minidisc sold in usa. Taiwan: RITEK still produce Mindisc Sunny tech (CANDO shops in Japan still sells this taiwan made Minidisc) Korea: SAEHAN (samsung company) still produce Minidisc for Korea and japan AS you can see there is still Some companies that produce Minidisc. This list is ofcourse for 2006/2007 and one company can suddenly stop with Minidisc blanks if is non-profit for them. I do know atleast that HHB in europe and JVC-Victor in japan for sure will continue with Minidisc for several years ahead. but as always decision on a company can always change. TDK europe use to make their change each year in August Sony Europe/japan either on Spring or/and Autumn and Tdk japan on the Winter. Probaly some of the Marks on the list will stop producing minidisc in 2007 (special the smale companies) but i belive big companies like Sony, TDK and even also Maxell will continue with Minidisc for many years ahead. As for Hi-md blanks only Sony make them and i doubt other company will do nowatdays
-
Hmm I too find Kenwood highly superior over JVC But somehow Kenwood must be intressed in something , but what? What is it JVC is doing that kenwood like right now? if is non-profit for Matushita why will it be profit for kenwood? Could kenwood rename JVC to kenwood and make the bad things out of JVC and make them all good? Anyway maybe Kenwood that only has a limited (But quality) marked want to expand to have more marked even if this will mean having lesser quality (JVC)? we have to wait and see.

Axia has Now updated their site and now All minidisc has a Red mark saying "Discontinued" the photos and information about all latest Axia Mds are still avaible (probaly some shops have stock left) But now we have the 100% confirmation that Axia minidisc are discontinued. Sad news but true Tdk Xa-pro is no more. Tdk has discontinued some minidisc amongst them the famous BITCLUB and XA-PRO. the website: http://www.tdk.co.jp/tjbbb01/bbb00100.htm Has a discrete word "(生産終了)" close to the Mds which translated means "End of production". For me it is very Sad Tdk Xa-pro ended before it was updated but seeing how the Minidisc marked is today is understandable. Tdk japan is currently only producing this Minidisc in Japan: -Tdk Ho (2003) -Tdk Wa (2006) -Tdk Fine (2006) - Tdk Clef (2005) I like to make a Memorial of one of the Greatest Minidisc ever made, not that i am going to make a memorial for all Minidisc blanks discontinued but trust me XA-PRO deserve it. TDK XA-PRO ERA ========================================================== The Xa-pro MD is a 3d ARts construction Having 3 layers instead of the usual 2 layers on Md (Front/back) the third layer is a Aluminium alloy inbetween the front & back Only Tdk Xa-pro ( and md-rxg pro) MD has this. This Great Minidisc was released in 1998 But to understand the 3d Arts invention let us go back in time a bit. The year is 1981, Minidisc is Not invented yet Metal Tapes is starting to get famous. And tdk come up with an Genius idea a "Metal alloy tape" The first Luxury audiotape. it was called TDK MA-R. Around 1981 and 1982 several version was made: About 5 years later in 1986 TDK release what would become the most famous Metal tape ever TDK MA-XG and updated version of Tdk Ma-R It seem there was another version of this tape that i was unaware of: In the 90s Tdk Update Ma-xg with FERMO totaly going away from the 80s concept and releasing a New design. 2 Version existed of the 90s Ma-xg tape The Japanesee version (Also sold in Europe) and the US version The differences between both version was reduced to mere Letters, US version had the word "Fermo" displayed on the tape and Japanesee version had the word "Ma-xg" except of this the tapes are Totaly equal The US version can be identified by "New Ma-xg" on the sealed package while Japanesee version just said "Ma-xg" on the packaging. remember we talking about the Non-transparent 90s versionof Ma-xg here. Tdk Ma-xg Fermo was the LAST Tdk Ma-xg tape tdk ever made. Now back to Minidisc in 1998 Tdk did something realy good they Took the Concept of "3D arts metal alloy" of 80s Tdk Ma-xg tape and converted it into a Minidisc it was called Xa-pro Tdk Xa pro: In 1999 Tdk Xa-pro was released in europe as "Md-rxg Pro" so 2 versions also existed of this Minidisc but Both minidisc are Equal only difference is Europe version has "TDK" words displayed big over the Minidisc while Japan version has "TDK" on the shutter The european version look preetiest in my opinion: The minidisc is as you can see based upon the same concept as the Tdk Ma-xg 1986 tape. Upon the arival of the new milenium Tdk Also released a CD pro version based upon Xa-pro but as a CD can not be much of a design the Cdpro had a short life. Sometimes between 2003-2004 Tdk Europe discontinued "Tdk Md-rxg pro Minidisc" in Europe And Now Finaly we comes to end of the line of 3D arts metal alloy products with Xa-pro being discontinued in 2006. From here people has either to go Ebay to get Xa pro. Fortunaly Tdk Japan still make some cool minidisc like Tdk Ho or Tdk Wa. I like to Thanks Tdk for releasing both Ma-xg Tapes and Tdk Xapro MD. it was a pleasure as long it lasted. And Xa Pro will always be remembered as the BEST minidisc blanks ever released. Not even Sonys magnesium MD2000 could overgo the Xapro in my opinion. If someone has "XA PRO" Mds or Ma-xg (1986), Ma-r tapes(19981/1992) for sale i may buy them for a good fair price. if they are in mint condition. (I dont need more of md-rxg pro european version) Hope you liked my memorial of Tdk Xa pro

I was going to post this in News but It wont let me (if anyone believe this is best suited in News section please move it there): AXIA is the Japanesee Media division of Fuji for Japanesee marked. They was famous for cool Mds like the Lego looking "Paki , "Dolphin md", Judy & Mary ,and the "Hello kitty Mds" Last update on Axia Md blanks was in 2004 and Last update on Axia web in May 2006 so i contacted FUJIFILM IMAGING Japan (before called Axia)by email. asking if there was any plans to New Md blanks and this is the email i got back: (i removed name of Fuji contact person and their email for security reason): From: xxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.co.jp To: xxxxxx@xxxxxx.com Dear Mr.xxxx Thank you for your patronage of FUJIFILM products. We would like to reply to your enquiry. In recent years, rapid growth of the portable audiovisual apparatus which uses a hard disk and semiconductor memory took over the market and demand of current audiovisual media have dramatically reduced. We are very sorry to say that the current audiovisual media sales (the mini disc sales) was terminated from September 30, 2006 in Japan. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. We look forward to your continued patronage to our company record media product. Best Regards, xxxxxxx ----End of email------ Upon cheking Axia webiste the Axia minidisc seem (as of today) to still be avaible AXIA WEBSITE so i sent another Email Asking Fuji If Fuji stopped selling Axia minidisc why Axia minidisc still are avaible on Their web. I got this Email back: From: xxxxxxxx@xxxxxx.co.jp To: xxxxxx@xxxxxx.com Dear Mr.xxxx All Axia minidisc was discontinued from September 30, 2006 in Japan. Nevertheless the information on Website has not been updated as your indication Because Axia minidisk products are still being sold in several markets. This is the reason why our home page is not revised yet. We will intend to revise our home page information in accordance with the market situation soon. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter. We look forward to your continued patronage to our company record media product. Best Regards, xxxxxxx ---- End of email------- This sad news confirm the following: 1. Fuji Japan stopped all sales of Minidisc in Japan in September 2. Axia Website will be updated in near future Removing Axia minidisc 3. There is still Axia minidisc avaible in shops around Japan So fuji Keep the Axia Minidisc on their web a bit longer because of this, But no New updates will be made and no New axia minidisc will be released. 4. I have no Confirmation yet what happens to standard "Fuji" branded minidisc like those in Europe. My guess is they be around a bit longer before discontinued. Im not sure if Fuji Minidisc is still sold in Fuji Usa. 5. I still think Axia products are labeled axia but this may change soon and Axia media products will be called Fuji again (Except of minidisc that be discontinued) I still dont realy believe it that Axia Minidisc is discontinued but i guess i get through it after some months. Axia was one of my favorite Minidisc blanks brand. They even Made blank minidisc for kenwood and was together with Xeus and Tdk the coolest Minidisc blanks maker. The last Minidisc Axia made was: - Happy color 2004 - Happy color 2004-2005 slim update Even if it hurt that Axia Minidisc is no more AXIA will always be remembered in our hearts for the special minidisc they made. and AXIA certainly deserve this Memorial thread. I made this photo bellow it just show some of all the cool Minidiscs Axia has made in Japan.

Sonicstage Error 00005607 - Can't find OpenMG secure module
ILoveMinidisc replied to ILoveMinidisc's topic in Software
Problem Solved I did another atempt to reinstall windows on top this time i dindt get a bluescreen (plugged out the modem) When windows was reinstalled the Windows installer worked again I was able to Install Msn and Sonicstage 3.4 havent tested transfering yet but problem seem to work so far. Problem is rests of the virus is still on pc since i dont have Windows Cd i have a folder on Pc with windows setup files and this folder was probaly infected too. So when reinstalling windows rest of windows (the one infecting .exe files) have followed with the installation. I will probaly have to format later on but atleast the Windows installer problem is solved. -
Sonicstage Error 00005607 - Can't find OpenMG secure module
ILoveMinidisc replied to ILoveMinidisc's topic in Software
yes i tried downloading it again but maybe i need a older version of windows installer problem that is only avaible from a XP pro cd which i dont have for the old computer. As for SS version i though having SS on a CD would help since they probaly not use .msi files and if version 3 use maybe version 2.2 not. (2.2 and 2.3 was my favorite version but dificult to find now) Is there a way we can check and confirm if 2.x version and above use .msi on the provided CD? that way I have confirmation on how to proceed next. ofcourse i too would prefer the windows installer problem solved but i tried many things without luck so far. -
Sonicstage Error 00005607 - Can't find OpenMG secure module
ILoveMinidisc replied to ILoveMinidisc's topic in Software
I tried installing the Full installer of SS 3.4 but the installshield gave me a error (probaly installshield is corrupted too since is not found in the registry i checked) problem i cant install new installshield because it need .msi and for that i need windows installer which also is corrupted. Strangely i was able to install Sonicstage 1.5 from the original CD so it seem instalation from Cds work. Now if only SONY could be kind to send me the 2.2 and 3.4 version i would be happy. Does anyone have a spare Original CD of SS 3.4 but must be checked if it use .msi installation (which 1.5 cd dont use) I am glad to atleast get one version working on my old pc even if is the old 1.5 version PLEASE answer some question: 1. Can i write to Sony Japan or sony anywhere asking for a new CD? 2. will Sony charge me for the Cd, if they do provide me a new cd? 3. i forgot how Old SS 1.5 work you dont drag the music there right must click import and do it from import button no dragging ? 4. Does anyone have a Spare CD of SS 2.2 or 3.4 (the best versions)? 5. Is the sound quality very bad in 1.5 compared to 3.4 I am transfering to netmd mostly 192kbps songs 6. Can i upgrade from 1.5 to 2.2 or newer version or do i need .msi for this? Any help is apreciated and thanks for posting the Nero method i may use that one as a last resort if SS 1.5 proves not to be useful. But i am sure what i need now is a CD -
Sonicstage Error 00005607 - Can't find OpenMG secure module
ILoveMinidisc posted a topic in Software
I have a big problem my computer was infected with several trojans that now are removed but the trojans also corrupted many .exe files also some windows file. sonicstage .exe file was one of the many files that got corrupted so i tried installing it again with a proper uninstall. After installing SS 3.4 again i tried run it and i only get this error: Can't find OpenMg secure module (error 00005607) I tried install the OpenMG secure modules separatly problem is that this installation come in a .msi package and i have a BIG problem with "Windows installer" that handle .msi package it gives me a 1601 error (same error i also get with Msn messenger that also use .msi installer) I tried all means of restoration to get Windows installer back but with no luck i even used the sfc /scannow command to restore broken windows file but no luck. I dont have the windows CD (this is on my old backup computer i use while new one is to repair) so i cant Format/reinstall windows yet (i will do later on) Meaning i have to find a mean to Transfer Mp3 to my Net minidisc. so question is: 1. Does anyone have the Secure modules installation in other format than .msi files since i cannot get .msi files to work on my computer any other installation would do. 2. If 1=NO and there is no way for me to install ANY version of sonicstage (i do have sonicstage 1.5 CD but i dont know if it will work without windows installer .msi) Then what is the RECOMENDED way of transfering as easy possible mp3 to Net minidisc? I do have Nero 6 for example, But i dont like Real player one (it was known for having ad-wares in past) if all other option of installing sonicstage is out then i need a easy step by step instruction (preferable with photos) on how to transfer music to minidisc by other means. Hope someone can help because i will probaly be stuck with the rest of the year with the old pc and realy need a solution to transfer mp3 either get Window installer .msi to work, SS to work or using another method. -
Have anyone though about that is the 15Th aniversary of minidisc in 2007? Sony celebreated the 10th Aniversary in 2002 and many Nice Minidisc minidisc was released for this reason. Now, considering Minidisc dont have many years left to live It would not be logical for Sony not to use 2007 as the perfect time to do one of the last effort in making some very nice Minidisc units. Atleast as A Memorial for the minidisc, i know the format deserve it. This means that Sony can and should celebrate a 15Th aniversary. because this chance may not return, and is unlikely there be a 20th aniversary. On the 15th Aniversary some Special Hi-md Walkmans and the big requested Hi-md deck should be released for All us who has suported Minidisc during 15 years. I am sure that if sony is going to release more minidisc it will all be focused on the 15th aniversary and would be a perfect time for us to buy minidiscs. If Sony decide to ignore a 15th aniversary we as consumer should still celebrate it and make 2007 the Year of the minidisc. Remember this may be the last celebration for minidisc so 15Th aniversary is important. We should buy Minidisc in 2007 and suport Sony in the minidisc adventure. atleast to give Minidisc the memorial it deserve. We all have Request for future Hi-md units, probaly the most requested is a Hi-md Deck no doubt about that. but improved Hi-md walkmans that depend even lesser on sonicstage programs (just drag and drop) would be very nice. So my request for sony for the 15th aniversary is: 1. Make the MD software drag & drop no more software limitiation, you just conect minidisc and drag the music directly into the unit. 2. My request for Sony is to make a Hi-md walkman with Sensor buttons (heat-sensor?) it will be safe in the pocket by applying a Hold-button. A shiny surface can be taken care of if we are good caretakers of MD Probaly not everyone want heat-sensor buttons BUT there can be atleast one Limited edition model made for the 15th aniversary for those that want, Is important it be sold not only in Japan but also in Europe and USA , making the design very pretty will increase the sale. You can see an example of pretty heat-sensor button design here: 3. As many other request a Hi-md deck would be perfect this one must also be sold in Usa and Europe i am sure Sony can afford to make one. Now ofcourse this is not a request-thread is a chat about 15th aniversary but is good idea to point out what would be good for minidisc. Long life to Minidisc Happy soon 15th aniversary

Not sure why but i think the european version look cooler.

Kenwood K's | 1999 Series *pictorial-review edited The Kenwood K’s – in my opinion, the Holy grail of all MD blanks the Mystic MiniDisc few knows exist but does that do are lucky dudes Somewhere in a Far away country called Japan a mystic MiniDisc suddenly appeared in some Kenwood shops Surprised witnesses tells about Agents pulling up a Small mystic Blank thing from the pocket when showing them the Kenwood MD deck. They was told is a MiniDisc but on first glance there was no trace of this; and if one in a million got to see this sealed Mystic MiniDisc blanks even lesser got to see the MiniDisc without its wrapper. But finally, today the greatest mystery in MiniDisc blanks history ever is revealed "The Kenwood mystery". Watch the images below closely, and save it to your computer you may as well never see it again. Only a very few MDs was made, and normal people could not just pop in a shop and get them, they was not for sale. Only the Agents in Some Kenwood-shops got them for demonstration. As you can see AXIA (Fuji Japan) made them for Kenwood. I guess it’s from the 1999 era and is an elegant classy design for being from that time. It even has a modern transparent Slipcase made by AXIA; but of course with the usual brilliant Kenwood words. Labels are just standard AXIA labels from that time but there is something funny. Kenwood wants to tell you are "lucky" if you really get yours hands on this MiniDisc and even more if you reveal the mystery of the shrink-wrap I am so happy to own one of the few Kenwood MD blanks that ever existed. So I guess, at least I could share the photos with you. If you are into getting this disc, you must have a lot of patience, and wait years and year on an auction maybe some Kenwood agent put the Holy Grail for sale. I know this is just a Standard classic MiniDisc but somehow it feel so special having a MiniDisc blanks with "Kenwood" on it. Thanks goes out to AXIA and Kenwood for making such nice MiniDisc blanks; and thanks to the one who sold it to me for 25 times the price of a normal MiniDisc ~ really worth it being that rare.

Ok this was a problem i had earlier today Man, i spent over 10 hours trying to figure out what was crashing 3.3,3.4 and 4. And finaly i found it out some MP3 songs in a album i recently downloaded. How is this possible, songs is 192 kbps is very strange. If anyone wish to Test this, I can provide the songs I just want to understand why this happen only clue i can come up with is some sort of copyright thing still is odd is crashing sonicstage instead of displaying a cant-transfer message. I was able to transfer this songs by converting them to .wav they only crashed when i draged them as .mp3 into Sonicstage. And One song made sonicstage pop up 5 Error messages in a row and crashing it when trying to drag it into Sonicstage Hey, how cool is that I am glad it was only a matter of some songs the rest of the songs is working but this just prove once again that Sony software can be quite weird
-
I solved the problems after almost 12 hours of scratching my head, installations, and reboots. the problem sonicstage 3.4 being slow is not the software is having a database being too big i just removed the whole database and made a new one, and now it run like a thunderbird Still it takes me a lot of time to get used to the 3x sonicstage system This is how i upload Albums: 1. I drag a Album folder to dynamic playlist 2. It apear in the Album folder 3. I moved this to a new created folder in playlist (i like to have all albums there) Is this the Correct way? Problem is that sometimes not all songs will show in the auto-create-album in sonicstage probaly the Id tag on mp3 that it relies on? Anyway i am glad the Speed is back to normal. but i still wont mind go back to 2.3 , I realy like that version
-
Yea i am stugling with it now i had problem transfering some songs program said "song not registred with sonicstage" or something like that and problem now i cant go back to 3.4 either , dont have the 3.4 Full version (link here on forum wont work) So i am totaly without Sonicstage. if i had 2.3 atleast i could make it run prober again. Also i tried 3.3 But each time i draged a Map with songs into sonicstage it crashed so got rid of 3.3, then installed 4 (without uninstalling 3.3) and when i run 4 program just Closes by itself. I guess i will need 2 programs to try now: Sonicstage 3.4 Full Sonicstage 2.3 full
-
The thing is 2.3 was the one i was most happy with i just cant realy like the 3 but then again i dont have Hi-md and all i do is transfer the songs. I want it simple and 2.3 is for me just that also i feel there is more copyright restriction on versions 3 where some songs wont transfer etc... (yea i know about the 3 tracks limit on 2.3 but there is ways around it) If anyone does have 2.3 on a cd i would be realy happy if they could upload it
-
I have a Xp. the biggest problem with 3.3 and even 4 is: 1. If i drag a Folder into the Playlist then when folder is created only one song apear so i have to drag rest of songs one by one 2. is VERY slow to drag each song into the playlist take like 5 minuts each. 3. I get so confused between Playlist and dynamic playlist Where am i suposed to drag the music for example say i have A folder with an album and want it quick on a Md. Do i drag folder to: Playlist, dynamic playlist, album ... where? Also i want it so i can EDIT the songs in sonicstage before songs are transfered to Mds. Any help is apreciated, thanks in advance
-
I dont like the New Sonicstage version (for me they slow, and i get confused with the Album sorthing thing) Where can i download Sonicstage 2.2 or 2.3 what is best of this 2 versions (give lessest problems and is fastest) for use with Sony Mz-n910 net md.
