I know not much on technology aspects but I would be not surprised if they put some kind of computer chip into the "optical line in" socket that some how will monitor and limit transfer of CDs that have computer chip protection built in them, and the usability of optical line in will be limited only to microphone. What U think ? - is this possible ?

Well, now I'm getting really pissed OFF, ha ha trying to measure my minds capacity to get pissed OFF , and the sense of humor in me is getting on the way. .....see U latter, must go now , - maybe I find some reason to get pisst OFF a bit

But the thing that most is pissing me OFF is/are people who don't get pisst OFF at the same things that I get pissed OFF at. Man, that really pisses me OFF. One of the things that irritates me on Forums ( and including on this one ) is when people are using moving images ( especially fast moving images ) in Avatars, like the one used by out friend: StevieP123 Is it so annoying to read the post when You have an icon moving like crazy in boring fashion. I wonder if those people them self's like to read other peoples posts and have similar fast and boring moving object irritating their eyes. But from now on i just ignore their posts - don't read them , no matter how interesting they might be. What's with them, - attention depravation or what ?? Cheeers,...... Just bought today at "London Drugs" store 4 MDs x 80 min, gold, [compatible with Hi-MD], regular price 5.89 - now for $ 3.49 CAN each. Great price. They have also tons of blue Maxells. I stick to gold Sony, but maybe Maxell are very good also. I have 4 more weeks to make up mind as to what to get from Sony - (I have $ 300.00 of credit) - but I will not be able to exchange if I don't like what I chose. I was even considering to get DNE20 MP3/ATRAC3™ CD Walkman or DNE920. I have Sony MDS-JE470 deck and love MD format, and portable would be nice addition. And more I think, more I realize I do not really need Hi-MD recorder, I just need good player, preferably with great 'line out' to listen most of the time via speakers. I'm reading that some people do not like the sound quality coming from headphone jack to speakers,(with Equalizer Off, and volume to Max). NH900 would be great (it has line out that apparently is not affecting sound quality coming via headphone jack) but it is so hard to find brand new model. I have to check other Sony Hi-MD players/only models with good "line out". I'm starting to look at Sharp MDs, but looks that they don't have Hi-MD models, I like the idea of Hi-SP mode for great sound quality and capacity. Some of the Sharp models have true line out. 1]. Please tell me how did You like dealing with Minidisc Canada. 2]. Did the unit arrived in original packaging with proper manual. 3]. Hi , - I like to ask owners of Hi-MD RH10 model couple of questions, Please: 1]. so far do You still like the unit, are there any specific mechanical problems with them. 2]. Do I understand this correctly - that via line 'in' I can record (from any source) = / from the radio, cassette tape, CD player, other MD deck, microphone / = I be able to record only in Hi-SP mode. The other modes of recording are possible only via computer ? , is that correct ? 3]. Is there something wrong with the whole line of RH10 models.? The reason I'm asking this is that at the Sony store they told me that they will have them in February 2006, - nothing for the Holiday season sales. Is this not strange a bit, - is there are some kind of problem that they (Sony) are fixing - and this is the reason for lack of the units in stores ? 4]. What do You think about durability of RH10 model, is it build to last a bit in Your opinion. I'm thinking of getting RH10, but like to make sure that I'm making right choice. 1]. So if I understand correctly there is no computer program that i can "run" the LP4 recording with it and do re-mixing /re-recording to a LP2 format ? I'm still surprised at huge difference between analogue and digital recording. Thanks man , ... indeed U are right it was the antenna. And I was checking it before , but i did not noticed that one cable come off - the whole unit is positioned that it is very hard to see behind the back panel. Thanks again, ...i was thinking that it was some kind of LP4 ghost ... getting back at me , ha ha

There is lots of MD and Hi-MD blanks at Sony store here in Canada, (nextr door). If Your friend plans to come to Canada here in Vancouver , BC, Sony store at Pacific Centre (downtown on Granville St. ) they have lots of them. There is few more Sony stores in Vancouver.

Hi, - I was just checking remote control again, and the volume is moving OK now, = (when the radio is turned to AM station), but it is not playing, there is a bit of "hiss" sound coming form speakers. , the display shows proper AM radio stations, but no sound. the FM stations are playing OK. I can not believe that because I connected optical cable from Mini System to MD deck and recorded couple of samples from CD player that I lost my AM reception. Any ideas what might be wrong, ....? .

Thanks zerodB My (partial) apology to the LP4. Yes , I must apologize and return part of the honor to the LP4. .....WHY ?? Well, - what i'm going to disclose it will be not so glorious on my self , but it is the truth , and truth is more important than my ego. Here it goes, ... (please do not laugh -- to loud). I have my Sony MDS-JE 470 deck for almost 4 years, and believe it or not - only today for the first time i took the digital /optical cable and connected to it. I do have two sets of Monster cables for line in and out, from my MD deck to my Sony MiniSystem CMT-EX200. And I recorded the same part of a song from a Cd (aprx 90 seconds) in 3 modes via Digital/optical line, - in Stereo, LP2 and in LP4, and I did the same again via analogue Monster cables, in Stereo, LP2 and in LP4. And i was SHOCKED !!! Totaly shocked, = the quality of LP4 recording via digital/optical cable was definitely (definitely) better than Stereo recording via analogue cable. WoooW. But of course LP2 via digital/optical cable is the best combining sound quality and extra quantity. I know this is ancient truth for many of U, -but i just discover that today. But the thing is that the MD deck can not record from radio via optical cable, only from CD. And something bad happened to my AM radio reception. The FM is playing OK - but when i switch to AM - it shows stations on display, but no sound is coming from all of the AM stations. Even volume is not moving OK when switched to AM, (... it is mowing very very slow) , on FM is moving fast, -no problems. I have other radios and AM stations are working. So i'm saddd) ....I lost my AM reception. Is it possible that connecting optical cable did it ?? I turned the radio Off for 15 min, no change. I did not disconnected from power yet, - i wonder if it will help.? So my joyous digital discovery has a victim in AM. Any ideas, ? - is it the battery in remote perhaps, it was not changed since brand new ,(3 years) it is some kind of special flat battery i did not even look at it yet, - but FM and CD is working OK. - so i don't think is the battery in remote. So sorry, i was thinking that i'm editing my previous post. I was going to add this I know that U can say that if i like that much dE highest quality of music than to stick with original Cd , .... but U see I do like the idea of squeezing more music on Md or on Cd, more then original Cd has, but it should be a limit , and for me a least from now On the limit is LP2 quality. Nothing less . I just called psychiatrist and he diagnosed me that i have a "deep acoustic wound" He said I will be fine ..... .

Hi, - is there a way to re-do, re-mix minidiscs 74 & 80 min recorded in LP4 to LP2 format, (i mean not on the MD deck but on the computer using some kind of program). I officially now hate LP4 for music quality, why I did record in that LP4, = I have not a clue. Grrrrrrr !!!! But I think i was greedy for disc space. That's it - i wAs greedy sucker People PLEASE Love U-rr selfs and Love music, and do not cheat U-rr selfs and do not be greedy for disc space and do not steal from U-rr selfs the joy of listening to descent quality of music. Life is to short and to precious for that. 'I'm now paying price for that = i'm loosing my mind - i think of myself as of a cheap thief - music quality thief. Fuuuu !!!! LP4 or low quality MP3 for music is a sin !!!. God give us two ears and We are capable in greedy attitude {-like my self- } of reducing music quality to one ear status. There should be A gov. law on minimum level of music distortion /quality in ALL sold to the public equipment to play music. There is no reason for manufacturing unsafe cars and low quality music players. Ufffff - i',m venting my frustration now at my self. OK - i'm done now Thanks for spending U-rr time reading this. WoooW, --- what an interesting load of infos. I feel jolted - but I must read couple more times cause my grey matter is drained - it is just to much volts or amperes for me to digest in one shot - but I definitely will benefit form reading over and over till I understand more - (another benefit from joining this Forum - I can get electrocuted by Hi-powered knowledge). I had the same problem few times , - the file was "stubborn" and i could not get rid of it - in order to download next one, - but by clicking few times on X, and deleting , and I found that mostly by leaving alone for 30 -60 -90 seconds it seems that solved the blockade , and the next file was downloading OK.

Aha , - now i understand - Thanks As to the ATRAC3 and MP3, - do You think it would be possible to download and hear the same sound sample with MP3 and Atrac3 side by side ? So after all ATRAC 3 ...is the king ...but sounds that MP3 is also capable of great sound quality judging by some of the samples - ( Ref: to last 2 hours of downloads). Wooow - !!! , no ATRAC3 in last 2 hours, - I was positive that the every close sounds were from ATRAC3 - Wooow = so the conclusion is that MP3 could be so good, - Wooow ! I was thinking also the same, about choosing one as degraded sample - even when i was going to give them 5 mark. But now i mark only as 5 (no degrading choice), if they sound extremely close or the same. Only below 5, I mark one of them as degraded sample - I think this is the idea [??] that 5 gets no degrading choice. P.S. ...greenmachine ...looking cool in blue
