this is great news - ive been having trouble with this too. ill try it and let you know -
i notice there is another thread (link below) which references your experience with the voltage adjustment for the display. I am in the UK - any idea how could i get this looked at ?

Tried with the sidecar, and with the charger / mains adapter directly on its own and its still the same. really realy faint can hardly see it unless total darkness and then only just!

Ive got one like this too MZ-RH10 i havent used it for 2-3 years and got it out of a box and charged it up but screen very faint. it works, i can plug the control stick in and control it via that to a limited degree. is this a common fault, is there any histroy of screen failure ??

basically the additional bitrates shown by SS3.3 are useable by other sony atrac capable hardware. it is confusing - esp as they are not listed in a coherent format - ie atrac3 is listed but atrac3+ is simply listed as the bitrate so it is not clear on the menu options. These are the correct options as far as i know :

after youve converted the omg / oma file into a wav file for editing using HiMDRenderer , have you had any trouble with SS3.3 not being able to play the wav in pcm format? I do exactly what you do - edit tracks and create new ones in wav and reimport them back into SS. Of course the limitations on doing this are an attempt by Sony to control the rights management stuff. Im glad youve highlighted how to combine tracks in SS - i thought i could only do that on the unit. Who hooo!

my mz-rh10 does alot of recording and also is used for playback at the gym or around town and at work. ive always used them for recording but not live recording. mostly cd's for portability or from radio broadcasts

But this is the same with 'any' wav file, not just the HiMDRendered one. Its not specific to the HiMDRendered file - any pcm wav wont play. I am using 3.3, recently upgraded from 3.2. I dont know if this worked before - i had not tried it before the upgrade.

I thought that SS was supposed to recognise pcm wav files - but i have encountered a problem: Ive upgraded to SS3.3 and installed HiMDRenderer and left a deposit on marcnet. Ive uploaded a digitally recorded track from my HiMD RH10 to SS, then ive converted it to WAV using HiMDRenderer. Ive edited the wav file using nero wave editor and then imported the track back into SS library ..... it is listed there but it wont play!! When i click on the play icon or dbl click the track, zero happens!! The file is shown in the library and all seems ok, apart from in the properties for the track the "track info" and "lyrics notes" windows are greyed out - i.e not editable. I imported back into SS the virgin wav which HiMDRenderer produced and that wont play either. However if i save the wav files as wma or mp3 from Nero it works. I played around a bit more with this and then got the "Cannot load the rights information.." error, but only with the first wav i loaded. So then I removed all the files from the SS library and reimported the original wav file - and now im back to where i started, it simply doesnt play! This seems to be the case with any wav file i import. If i convert the wav into an atrac format, and then only when i delete the original wav file from the track properties;file info window can i play the track. It would appear that the track is 'not allowed as a wav' for some reason, but SS is supposed to support wav files !! Have i missed something here or done something wrong? Happy holidays and wishing everyone a great new year.

Have i missed something really dumb? I dont understand why it wont play or recognise pcm wav - i thought it was supposed to. Help

You can configure the settings in SS to automatically delete the imported files during conversion and just leave you with the optimised files.

Ah ha - Its the first time ive used SS and i didnt realise it was a general sony application. I tried it once a few years ago and binned it cos most of useage was simply ripping CD's onto MD for portability. But now that i can upload my own recordings onto a PC i started to have a go with SS. Now i understand that the 256kbps relates to Atrac3+ in the transfer window !! I wondered where that Atrac3SuperDeluXe three-five-two came from. I shall upgrade to 3.3 immediately. Ive also got the HiMDRenderer so ill have a go of that too. Thanks alot minidisc people

Hello MD forum people. You have been very helpful during my long time with MD from the 74 min days through to NetMD and finally to Hi-MD. Without your support i would probably have given up and moved to some bland MP3 player or something. But anyhoo i havent. I can work most stuff out but what has tripped me up is the SonicStage stuff relating to Atrac3 and Atrac3Plus. If i have some tracks on my PC from a CD, i then convert them to A3+ 128Kbps, but i cant transfer them to my Hi-MD 80min disc or any other disc. From the boards I have worked out that the MD unit cannot decode A3+ 128 Kbps!! SO what is the purpose of being able to convert to the various A3+ formats when you cant transfer them to Hi-MD? If im in the library tansfer window of SS and go into settings only A3 options are available for convert & transfer. But if i go into the Library and select some tracks i can convert them to a whole range of A3 and A3+ options - but only a few of them are useable for transfer to Hi-MD !!! It takes hours to convert and transfer so i wanted to convert first then transfer quickly some other time. Now ive got to do it all over again Have i understood all of this correctly ? Also if i have long tracks recorded onto my Hi-MD via optical whats the best way to edit them on a PC - is it possible to download them and get them off SS and edit them and then get them back onto SS again to put back onto my Hi-MD player? Does that make sense? Ill try and explain more if its not crystal. Hope ive done enough research to qualify for some assistance. Many thanks and i hope youre all having a great pre holiday build up
