dlmag.com has probably mixed this up with a Sony Ericsson walkman phone, and the article never mentions MD.
-
Great news. In fact, to me, this is really too good to be true as I had guessed there will be no more new MD/HiMD units can be found in HK.
-
I tried this by adding ONE album each time and the album simply add to the list and start transfer after the current one finishes. Overall, yes, it seems to work.
-
I certainly hope so, but according to the 'speculated' specs, it doesn't appear so.
-
But Sony have already released two player only units in Nov last year. Don't think they will release any more shortly.

Check this out http://www.sony.net/Products/Hi-MD/capacity.html#3

My experience -- if you RECENTLY purchased NH14WM battery and it is labelled 'Made in Japan', it is very likely a FAKE refurbished in China. If it is labelled 'Made in China', then it may be an 'official' SOny product.

This problem had been discussed in great details in this thread. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=13892
-
I think its because the device is imported from Japan. Last time I've checked, this costs around 44,800 yen at a Japan online store, ie, around USD400.
-
I don't know other countries in Asia, but in Hong Kong, MD market, which was extremely popular about 4 or 5 years ago, has been rapidly declining for past two years. Some large chain stores have completely removed all MD units in past few months.
-
I didn't use the online installer before so I can't advise. But IIRC SS3.4 full installer should have similar features as SS3.3 full installer (other than of course it is SS3.4 and not SS3.3).
-
I feel it is very unlikely that the MD are of HiMD. Unfortunately the MD picture seems shown on Sony's picture seems using a 'HiMD' disc, which may give a wrong impression.
-
Just get this installed. Thanks a lot.

The silver version of RH910 has been in stock in Hong Kong for quite a while (at least for 6 months). So, this is not a new.
-
No, 910 don't have any backlight.
-
Really? But according to this thread http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7423 it should come with a 1000mAh or is yours a Japanese model? My RH910 comes only with a 1000mAH gumstick. I feel the battery quality of those acquired from eBay may not be consistent and it is likely that what ScoobyDooby got could be faulty explaining the weak battery life.
-
Here's mine. SS3.3 (will upgrade to SS3.4 when an offline installer availeble), XP Home SP2, Intel P4 2.6C, 1 GB RAM, Norton Internet Security is on, Using IE and Firefox 1.07 (but I didn't used them during transfer). Additional points: My HiMD device is always connected to an USB port (at front panel) and not via a USB hub. Btw, there is NO problem to transfer multiple albums to Sony Netwalk Walkman (NW-A1000) using SS3.3. Also, the freeze problem for transfering multiple albums to HiMD seems not related to the number of tracks, as I did rip tracks from double CDs into a 'single' album in SS3.3 and there is no problem in transfering these into HiMD.

I think you need to charge and discharge several times before it achieve its normal state. And be careful if you charge these batteries in a charger as the battery get swollen and now I have to dispose it. You may read more in a thread I started recently on this similar topic.
-
Thx for the replies. Is an output of 0.7A for a charger considered high for a Sony battery? I asked this because I've heard somewhere that the charge should be around 200-400 mA.
-
I used to charge my Gumstick batteries using a Panasonic charger RP-BC250H (output 1.2V; 0.7A) that supplied with the Panasonic MD player MJ78 purchased some years ago. No problem at all so far(even charging the Sony NH-10WM supplied with RH910), until recently. Well, I just bought a Sony NH-14WM (stamina) at a local shop, which seems to be those refurbished in China and labelled 'made in Japan'. Initially, the battery doesn't seem work properly but after a few charging/discharging it seems working OK. I then put the battery into the Panasonic charger and after about two hours, the light goes off but I also feel quite some heat. Now the problem is that the battery have swelled to an extent it can't fit into the player anymore. Has this battery suffered irrepairable damge? Also, I'm about to buy a EH-70 which I understand it will come with a NH-14WM. What should be the best way to charge this? Should I charge it using the player or use my Panasonic charger? Any advice are most welcome. Thx.

It's funny as I just bought one of these (mine is a black colour) from a local shop. And I find the case is a bit tight for my RH910, but still usable.
-
This has been the case for SS3.3 and it seems Sony haven't fixed it.
-
Don't know about other asian countries but in HK, MD market, which was extremely popular some 3 or 4 years ago, will soon disappear 100% (cuurently is 99%), and basically replaced by MP3 players. Even cassette hardware are more easily found. Real sad.

Sony closing its Japan factory for MD, CD players
metal replied to Happy Hopping's topic in Minidisc
Is there any reason to doubt the quality when a product is made in China? Fyi, Denon's 2004/2005 flagship DVD player (can't recall the exact model no, could be AX-1) was made in China while their mid-price player was made in Japan. -
Will these players be easily purchased in Japan as my brother will go to Tokyo in 2 weeks' time and I'm thinking to ask him to buy one for me. If yes, any advice on which retailers?
