Unable to Select Folder to Transfer Music to PC
pomj replied to Kadaan's topic in Grab Your Music (GYM)
I think you don't have the correct version of .net framework installed. I think I've read something about that somewhere. I think you'll need the version GYM was written in. 1.1? -
if you use another program like vaio music transfer then you are back in simple mode at once.
-
A bit down on the page it says: 同梱アプリケーションソフトウェア Media Manager for WALKMAN、SonicStage CP、WALKMAN Launcher
-
That was what I meant. Better to say it out straight. Sorry
-
I have had these popups too. In my case the files that wasn't transferred were either corrupt or had strange characters in the file name. The former was resolved opening the file in mpTrim and then just saving it again and the latter was resolved by simply renaming the file. After this SS would transfer as normal.
-
yes that's correct. but I find that (with sitcom's anyway) there isn't much going on at the edges... but YMMV

I think it is like this. NW and NWZ is two different lines of players. NW an atrac player where you use SonicStage to manage your music and NWZ where you use drag and drop, WMP11 or whatever to manage your music. IMHO the pros and cons is: Pro: NW - because you use SS you have advanced mode where you can play with ratings make manual or automatic playlists and so forth. This is because the music library is a database thus you can view your data in different ways. You have atrac and you can play gapless. NWZ - Drag and drop *is* simpler and quicker. You manage your music yourself. MAC and linux compatible. Cons: NW - Not MAC and unix compatible. NWZ - You loose the database way of viewing your library. No gapless. When sony released the NWZ line I was worried that they wouldn't support the NW line anymore but I interpret their information as that they will keep on updateing the player (firmware) and SS so they won't get unusable. But they will not give an firmware update that will make the NW line same as NWZ.

If you convert it 16:9 and set the zoom on the player to full the black bars are gone...
-
Isn't that the purpose of a forum to discuss and exchange views and opinions? I have an opinion in this matter and I was surprised that I had to go so high in bitrate with atrac until it was transparent to me. For me atrac somehow lacks sparkle/air (I don't know how to describe it) if you compare it to nero aac. Hoever this is very subtle and you (I) won't notice it when on the move. So I wanted to see if others have a different view (maybe my hearing isn't the best in the world) and I'm grateful for the responses I've got

While many of you are praising atrac3/atrac3+ quality at low bitrates my question is at what bitrate is the atrac file inseparable from a lossless file? Googling this subject has given me the impression that lame has it's sweetspot at approx. 196kbps and nero aac has it at approx. 160 kbps. cheers

I lower my head in embarassment of 'Wes' ridiculous socalled review... The thing that irritates me the most is that they don't remove posts like that. Hey he is reviewing an 8GB flashplayer and compares it to the ipod. Not the nano (which would be logical) but the 80GB harddrive player. Well he's obviously not sharpest knife in the drawer... (if you get what I mean)
-
sorry half the post dissapeared.. It's generally better to just install the codec you need.
-
codec packs can be a source to trouble. it'
-
The nano has better specification. Given they will provide a video out so you can watch on a TV that is cool. Otherwise it doesn't matter. You won't see any difference on the builtin screen.
-
I'll second that. The important thing is that they are continuing their support for the atrac walkmans.
-
Here in sweden they are marketing them as two different branches of the same product. One with play for sure and one with atrac.
-
I've got good results with nero recode2.
-
Go here: http://support.sony-europe.com/DNA/Connect...=NWH&f=AU03 press the accept button and you will be downloading connect player. Use winrar (i've just tested with that) to unpack the installation file into a folder. Inside this folder start the file 'connect player.msi'. Works for me. Connect player will be installed and seems to be functioneing perfectly but I have no posibility to test an actual cyncing because my nw-a1000 is no more
-
Where is that setting. I have searched but (obviously) not found...
-
GREAT. Now I'm cool ...
-
well I would be interested in a comparison between A800 and the D2. I did compare these when I got my A808 (my friend has a D2) but it would be fun to see what you think.
-
The only format the A808 plays gapless is atrac advanced lossless (If I'm not wrong). Now that they've removed the atrac support I don't think there are any gapless support anymore.

Petition to sony asking for WMP update firmware for walkman users!
pomj replied to veggiemusician's question in Audio
I think you are correct in your assumptions. There was no need to release a new series if all that was needed was a firmware upgrade. That said. It looks like I'm the only one who actually think's SS is a decent program. When I bought my player I knew it needed SS and I tried out SS before I bought the player. The only thing I am worried about is that my player and SS won't get the updates it will need in the future. Going the WMP11 route is not necessarly a good way to go. If it was compatible with iTunes that would (IMHO) been another matter. I think iTunes is the single best media player/organiser in the industry. The best thing with the new players is that they will be compatible with macOS. -
I tested it on my walkman. It puts the song's on the player in a separate music folder thus the songs aren't recognised/seen by the player.

When I get this problem I open the file in Avidemux -> rebuild VBR and saves the file. Now I can transfer the saved file.
