  1. Your right of course, Juli. And given that I have umteen cradles, speakers etc with WM port it would be foolish not to wait.
  2. I don't know what the **** is going on with this player. Dabs have contacted me to say the lead time for stock intake has been pushed out to 29th May. I am getting a little frustrated with the massive wait from announcement to arrival of this device. I have money in my hands now, I wonder what a suitable alternative would be............I wonder will I fall for the itouch after all?
  3. YES..........sound will be better than Creative. NO...........Line-out, last time that appeared on a Sony was the HD series. I still use the HD1's Line out feature in my car. It's worth noting at this point that although SONY SQ is unrivaled the output power is quite weak. You will really need to crank up the volume if connecting to a car stereo via headphone jack, which will lower battery life.
  4. Ordered mine from Dabs.ie today. €285 including delivery for 32GB Version.....good value, but will not be in stock for "more than 4 weeks".
  5. AHA! So the "browser" is "restricted", I kinda guessed I wouldn't be checking the latest news on this device.......... "Gadgety" is the best description of WIFI on the NWZ-X1000 then. Capacity, sound quality and NC remain the real selling points.
  6. If they are the same as the 'phones that came with the NW-S703 I have a working set. Drop a line to anthonyobrien@gmx.com if you are interested.
  7. I am also thinking about Cowon. But I know when this is released I will want it anyway so I am going to wait.
  8. Contacted Advanced MP3 players about pre-order details. This is the reply. Hi Anthony, Thank you for your email. I'm afraid that Sony have not yet released an arrival date for this new player; although we will indeed be carrying it when available. The only thing I can think to suggest would be to keep an eye on our news section as information will be posted there when received. Kind Regards, Elliot Holmes (Advanced MP3 Players)
  9. I forgot to add..I saw the new wearable Walkman in my local Sony centre yesterday. It looks cool actually, great for cutting the grass or gardening (no wires). Very good value too at €69. 2GB is pointless though, turns it into a toy really.
  10. May 10th is a disaster for me. There is huge pressure on my savings, they may be gone by May 10th. Advanced MP3 players have me driven crazy with their special offers on the Cowon D2 at the moment, no bluetooth though which is a problem for me. ...... P.S.......I know the dandruff has no bluetooth either but I have the adaptor thingy, I presume it will connect to the WM port (like my 818).
  11. May -June in Ireland according to my local Sony Centre.
  12. Yes Juli, but Sony's problem was never with their products. It's with their marketing ( now that Atrac is no longer an issue). Until they can break Apples' spell over the masses they will always have this problem. I have heard many Walkman models being described as "Apple Beaters",we can go back as far as the HD1. However, Aplle devices are fashion items to most users and no amount of "better technology" can singularly change that.
  13. I have seen in specifications (somewhere) that it DOES have the WM port. If you look back at the pictorial review from the French website you can clearly see it in one of the images. However, getting it to work with cradles will probably depend on the dimensions. At least it's still on the bottom of the device, Sony Ericsson keep moving their ports around so it's impossible for one cradle to be "multi-purpose".
  14. Sony Releases New Stupid Piece of Shit!!!!!!!!!! http://www.theonion.com/content/video/sony...stupid_piece_of
  15. Dura, How does this high bitrate (320 kbs) affect quoted battery life? I was considering ginving it a try, I traditionally use 192kb MP3.
  16. This Sony's own description of the latest Walkmans series...with lovely pictures.......Hmmmmm!!! http://www.sony.com/ces/products/audio.php
  17. Just spoke to the guy in my local Sony centre where I bought it. They are taking it in during the week under warranty. He did say that this is the first he got back with this problem. This is an issue for me because I have had two go bad. It MUST be the charger on one of the cradles or speaker systems, but which one? I have two speaker systems and two cradles, all Sony devices designed for the NWA-NWZ series ( WM port). B***cks anyway?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  18. It does Juli, but it's the rate of discharge is the problem, like 2 hours MP3 playback. It also discharges when not in use. Sure signs of a wacked battery. I'm trying to figure out why this has happened to both my devices, surely I can't be in that much hard luck!!!!!!
  19. I tend to agree, I think I will disconnect the charger from the cradle and just use the usb to charge the device ( once it's repaired).
  20. Yes, there must be something in this dura. I'm going to get the *818 repaired as it's under warranty. But if I keep it off the speaker systems I am denying myself a lot of the benefits of a multi-function device. On the other hand if I use the speaker systems I am destroying the battery. I am fairly sure that constant charging can result in overload of some sort despite the sensitivity of modern electronics.
  21. The batteries in both my NWA-808 and NWZ-818 have packed up within the warranty period and I'm now wondering why this should happen. I am begiinning to wonder about potential damage to the battery when these devices are cradled a lot of the time. I use my walkmans in speaker systems and I transfer music and videos quite a bit also. This means there is almost always a charge being delivered to the battery . Not only that but I had the A-808 repaired and the battery packed up again within a few months. I'm not too pleased about this, if I spend almost €400 on the new X series I don't want the battery to start becoming unreliable because of my usage patterns. Of course I am also wondering if there is a fault with one of the power supplies resulting in an excessive votage being delivered to the devices. Remember this has happened to both of my units. Any thougts anyone.
  22. Juli, I never had a problem connecting with these devices ( I have 2). I use the wired option; my house is networked. I know the wireless option is a nightmare, this confined the device to the bargain bin fairly quickly............... to my advantage. Surprisingly, the M-crew server software is fairly intelligent and stable also. BTW, where do they get the names from....... "M-CREW"??????
  23. I have the same speaker system, but it's the CPF-IX001 ( I think), the networked version. I'm not too convinced about the sound quality though, I know it's small and has big sound but it sounds a lot inferior to the SQ on my NWZ-A818. I'm not at all worried about battery life, this has to be misinformation. SONY excel at long battery life because they have a patented technology that gives them the edge. I can't remember what it's called but I know it is exclusive to SONY ( for now at least).
  24. Oh well, it's the end of an era. I held firmly onto SS in order to feed my beloved NW-HD1 . However, in the past few weeks my SS 4.3 installation has become increasingly sickly. I'm not sure if I should blame SS or VISTA but one thing is for certain, I ain't going to try to fix it; no Sireee, the days of messing around with SS are well and truly over....RIP. P.S This is kinda typical of the whole SS era really, nuclear holocaust resistant hardware.......crap software.
