MZ-NH1 and his friends to enjoy FULL Hi-MD potential
heathenmagic replied to Asia's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Hi there, Great set of pics and useful info. Regarding the MCMD-R1, I think this would be quite useful. However I note it is now obsolete, so it is quite hard to get. Are there any alternatives out there? Shame the RH1 can't interface directly with a camera with card! Lol. Great outline of the capabalities of Minidisc. Cheers -
A Beautiful Revelation -- the Epic MZ-RH1 Arrives
heathenmagic replied to Christopher's topic in News
The M200 is the same as the MZ-RH1, except it has a microphone. It is a package option. Hope this is of help. -
Thanks Darkflame, That is very interesting about etailers. I can understand it as I am in business myself, and some of our suppliers' prices and recommended retail prices are absurd, so no wonder they like to wait for bulk discounts! lol. I ordered it, then the next day it popped up in my local Sony centre. Doh. I did contact Sony UK and I was quoted mid-August for new stock in this country. Looking forward to it....

Do you think there will be a new HI-MD Computer Drive from Sony?
heathenmagic replied to viiv's topic in Minidisc
This is an interesting topic. Still waiting for my RH1, my first Hi-Md machine. I envisage I'll be using this for storing data on the discs, as I am a partner in a business and need to transport pics, files, text e.t.c. Of course the main use will be for music. But I don't think I'll need a standalone drive, as I will have the comort of using the RH1 for such purposes. Would have been nice to have seen minidiscs used as a storage medium a few years ago instead of those 100mb zip discs. Silly Sony lol. -
Hello Shirleywhite, I am waiting for one from the same place. Communication hasn't been brilliant to be honest. But they said they were awaiting stock and confirmation date from Sony when I emailed them last. I ordered about 6 weeks ago also. Hang in there, although I admit I am getting impatient!! LOL. Willing to perservere though.

I don't think 4.0 has any extra bitrates, its more of an update for network walkmans with security updates. If I am right, 3.4 has the new bitrates, compared to the prior versions that came on CD in the box.

Thanks to all the knowledgeable guys who have put their wisdom forward on this thread. It has been very helpful. I think I have definitely made the right choice, and have learned that any quality is achievable on this machine, depending on the amount of stuff you want on a disc. My gut feeling when ordering was it will be a great machine. I think I might be a total convert to the format too. Lol.

I have the LP modes on my five year old Sharp MD recorder. I did read a technology piece online which said the Hi-SP / Hi-LP were some advance in sound quality compared to the LP modes and previous methods. Mainly I'll be using the 256 bitrate and upwards for compiling albums etc, which I understand to be lossless. And linear PCM for recording rehearsals and concerts.

Here's me thinking I might have made the wong choice going for the RH1. Lol! I was after the best sounding player and a quality recorder. I deliberated for days whether to go for MP3, Ipod etc. After reading strong reviews about sound etc for the MZ-RH1, I plumped for RH1, whilst being a casual minidisc user. Though I have enough discs to upload. I am just awaiting its delivery once it is back in stock. Just hoping it will be up to scratch, for the amount it costs. Not sure now.

Hello there, I am from the UK, and due to lack of stock here, I am tempted to get one from the USA. I wondered if the only difference is the headphone output level. I'm not sure if this is also true, but I heard that the UK version doesn't feature a blank disc and carry case as the USA versions do. Another major point is warranty. I'm guessing that I wouldn't be able to walk into a Sony UK shop with an american model for repairs?

Hello Dogville, I was late in ordering and missed the first batch of stock. Everywhere I have tried is out of stock now, and Sony say that they will be back in this country again in August. Hopefully, August of this year. Lol.
-
Hey folks, You are really rubbing it in for us poor souls who can't find these units for love nor money!! LOL. Gotta wait till mid-August here in the UK. Dang! With regards to bass. I currently have an old Sharp MD-MT80H recorder. The bass on this is just enough for me, sometimes over the top at level 3. If the MZ-RH1 bass is at the MT80 level, I'll be happy. Glad you are enjoying your RH1's anyway. Grrrrrrrrrr........

Lethal Weapon films are absolutely brilliant! Great taste! I last watched The Island. Despite all the bad reviews, I actually really enjoyed it, and the action scenes are A+. Worth watching. I've learnt to ignore the reviews!! Last turkey I saw was Silent Hill, IMO. LOL!

Hi Yofi, Thanks for that, I did see that aswell, and I haven't hear of them either. So I'm not sure about them, but emailed them anyway. No reply yet. Might end up seeing if the Sony Centre guy is getting one in tomorrow or not, and just get it there and then. Lol. Alas, he is probably stringing me along. I thought as much about the pricing difference. Probably all that's different is you can take it to them and they will sort it out if it goes wrong, hopefully much quicker than others. Regarding battery replacements for the RH1. Another forum mentions the high price for them in some places. The official Sony spares dept do them for £36 with Vat and carriage. I put the info on the thread:- Spare LIP-4WM batteries Hope it is of some use to somebody. Cheers.

Hello AllanH and everyone, Line Make & Description Model SONY Qty 1 PRICE 28.36 TOTAL 28.36 BATTERY (LIP-4WM) The above is what I was quoted from Sony spare parts office in Melton Mowbray. Not got my RH1 yet, but will probably get my battery from the official place. I wouldn't dare touch Ebay with a barge pole, had enough misery through crap stuff!! Contact details:- Accessories (as originally supplied with the product) can be purchased from: SEME Limited Hudson Road Melton Mowbray Leicestershire LE13 1BS Telephone: 0870 240 6354 Fax: 01664 563 976 email: sony@seme.co.uk Cheers.

Hello tunster, You are lucky to get one!! LOL. Apparently, 10/8/06 is the date Sony quote when receiving new stocks of the MZ-RH1, and then forward the stock to retailers. Even more of a wait!! %^&*ing hell! This should help anyone out who has been led to believe they will be here from late June onwards. Agree that Sony should have release a sufficient number. Just a question also. How come Sony centres charge more compared to independent retailers. Is there some kind of special warranty or guarantee if it goes wrong, what's the deal?

Hello there, I am still awaiting my Mz-RH1, but would like advice from current users on the optimum mic recording setup. I have read numerous posts regarding other models, but with the improvements in recording and sound, I gather the setup might be different for optimum recording. My main aim is ti record live music venues and recording my own song acoustically. Any help is much appreciated, and would benefit a lot of users I guess. Hats off to sony for releasing this one! Cheers, Russ
-
Hello all, Oh yeah, forgot to mention that is if you buy ten. Still good deal, free postage on everything. Just heard that the new stock release has been moved from July to August. I'm still waiting for mine, and I'm hoping this isn't true. Has anyone got a confirmation from any store for when they arrive in the UK? Much appreciated. Russ
-
In another thread in the forum, someone has been told by Sony that we have to wait until August. Please tell me this isn't so!!! LOL
-
Hello all, If you are looing for Hi-MD discs, I suggest everyone checks out This Site £4 a disc aint bad............. real fast delivery too. Russ
-
Thanks RobF1Uk, Yeah I noticed my local Sony dealer had them in, a day after I ordered one. Doh! I don't mind waiting, it's just you get told one thing from one shop, and another from somewhere else about stock. The Sony lady said they were very popular. For anyone else looking, I noticed this company have (apparently) them in stock:- http://www.atlantic2u.net/store/viewproduc...?idproduct=6668 £213 with shipping

Hello all, This is my first post! I have just preordered my MZ-RH1, but Sony say they don't have any positive stock till the end of June. The retailer where I got it from (askdirect) didn't respond to my email asking when it is coming back in stock. Everywhere else says 14 days on their site, but it has been like that for several days! LOL. Just wondering if anyone knows the stock situation for the UK or has bought any in the UK? Really looking forward to getting this one!! Russ
