That is a hard choice. If you can live without legacy MD recording capability on the unit, the by all means get the RH10 for its OLED display and MP3 playback.

on the other hand... if you don't need MP3 support (I don't, won't and would rather be seen dead than with MP3's biggrin.gif ) and you can live without the beautifull OLED (I can, but only just huh.gif ), why give up the qualities, compactness, (at least partly) metallic feel, backwards compatibility, line out, ... of the NH900

Why is every progress in one direction always hand in hand with the opposite in another departement I didn't know the rh10 couldn't record analog in sp mode until today when I had my firt glance at the manual.

So can the the nh900 do sp via usb too?

Anyway I did the hat trick and turnig the treble up on the custom EQ made for pretty good mp3 playback,I'm now making my first disk and thing's are looking pretty good.

My vote is for the RH10.

I own both, but to me(and yes opinions vary), the RH10 sounds better.

The display is heaps better as well. MP3 playback, I could care less about. People often say the RH10 is bulkier, though I don't see that. The RH10 is a little heavier, but the NH900 is thicker. The RH10 does give up a little... very little on width/height.

Dropping the line out on the RH10 was a mistake, but then... I can only think of two occasions that I've ever used the line out option on my other MD players. Guess is depends on what you are gonna do with it.

The RH10 brought me back to MD land after the NH900 sent me to iPod hell.

There are no existing units that do SP via USB. It would be a superfluous feature, considering the fact that none of the software Sony make includes a SP codec.

The headphone output of the RH10 is within range of normal line level for consumer equipment when used at 29/30 volume. By within range I mean, as measured with my unit, within 1-2dB.

Hi, bought my nh900 last august and have recently bought the rh10 adn can say without question the rh10 is miles better than the nh900 - It does all the stuff i want it to do

Line out of the rh10 is more or less the same as the nh900

the user face (using menus ect) is better than the nh900

the large bright screen means less fiddily, fumbiling presses

the size of the rh10 and nh900 are small - not much differnce there

GO for the rh10 no question!

Definitely the 900. Too bad it's 1.5 the price of the RH10 even.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post that UK store chain Argos are currently selling the NH900 for £99.99 in their sale, until July 29th.

And I thought I got a good price at £119 online, just a couple of weeks ago . . .

I like the 900, although I've just bought an E10 to satisfy the need for a slimmer MD!
