raintheory
My RH10 is having this exact same issue... I was putting off sending it in to have the titling issue fixed, but now with this issue too I am tempted to go ahead and have SONY take a look at it.Is your model one of the lucky ones with the missing letters when titling as well?I'm curious to see how many units have this volume/search issue...EDIT: Mine has this issue when I press the volume button either way, up or down. And as you said, doesn't happen every time, but it does tend to drive you up a wall. Edited July 18, 2005 by raintheory
MichaelBeardy
Hmm... And there was me wondering if the 2nd-Gen units were free of the curious button malfunctions of the 1st-Gen NH900s. It seems not.I'll think I'll put up with the stop/skip button on my NH900.Peace,Michael

The first couple of weeks, I had the titling problem with the missing letters, but now all of the letters show up in the titling menu. I don't know if I did something or what. Wierd huh? It seems not.I'll think I'll put up with the stop/skip button on my NH900.I had those probs, if you still have warranty, definitely send it in...it really could get fixed... they did it with my NH900 so perhaps it'll work with the RH10 as wellgood luck chaps
veezhun
i will try this for a day or two on my rh10.. havent really observed this problem... how often does this happen?? also as far as the titling error is concerned, read this thread to alter the destination code. all alphabets are available.. check this thread out: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=9752cheers
MichaelBeardy
A part of me wonders whether the "end" of the MD format as discussed in some of the other posts on this forum could, in some small part, be due to Sony's willingness to release inadequately developed, buggy products (dodgy buttons, missing characters, SonicStage glitches) to its customers...?It's just a thought...BTW, I still really like my NH900 - don't get me wrong.Peace,Michael

Mine does not do it when I lower the volume. Sometimes it goes to the search menu and back to normal, by itself when I increase volume and other times I have to cancel. This really sucks because alot of the time I do track markings during playback of my recordings without looking at the unit and I always mess with the volume when they are playing. It makes me miss the spot and I have to go back and do it again!
NKS
Anyone found anything about this problem?.. My RH10 is doing the exact same thing.. When I press volume up sometimes the Search screen appears.. First time i tought that I was pressing too hard on the button (so it could have pressed the search button at the same time, it happens to me when I fastforward a song holding the FF button too much on the center, it pushes PLAY at the same time). But this is not the cause of the problem.. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it dont and I can't really tell why. Thats weird and annoying and i wanna know if theres a solution/workaround for this. Thanks,NKS
mrsoul
I haven't had that problem yet. Tried for 10 minutes without any search or menu displays while ff and rev and up and down on the volume. Doesn't seem to be on all RH10's. Mine is one of the units with the titling error BTW. The Low Volta
as I said before (in this same thread)... I had weird buttonfunctions with my NH900 and I sent it in for repairs (to a Sony centre)...they completely fixed it and for no costs, as it was still under warrantyas the RH10 hasn't been available that long, I guess you all still have warranty... just send the units in for repairs (and if you bought them abroad, just check whether the warranty is international)if you do not like to send your recorder to Sony...I guess you'll have to live with the malfunctions, as I do not have any idea where the prob itself is situated (loose connections, firmware messup,...?) or how you yourself would be able to fix it
MZ-1
Just to note:I have one of the units with a SN after the ones mentioned on the Sony site with the letter problem.Occasionally:1. see the search menu when changing volume2. Fast Forward will drop out of that mode3. Track skip needs an additional press to workNone if it has gotten annoying but there does seem to be *somthing* about the control firmware.Paul
