It was just a short trip but.. alas .. But..Geek to the rescue.."Hmmmm.. where'd I put that stash of PDA screen protectors"Cut.. cut.. cut.. <... over one hour later...>My MZ-RH10 - is covered from head to foot in clear self-cling vinyl! Not quite as pretty.. kinda ugly actually.. ... and cutting around those buttons was a pain BUT .. now we're safe from the occasional contact with a rough surface.It took 2 to cover a side, had to cut out around buttons and such. If you attempt such a feat it may be helpful to first photocopy/scan yourplayer, and use the scan as a template - I used my device as the templatewhich mean I had to be very careful with the ol' xacto.Pictures to follow.'Brian Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Don't know if they have Maplins in Ireland - or Rymans perhaps, they do some good ones... Anyway, any surface tension type transparent PDA screens should do. I just cover as much as possible of the main screen area in one piece - ie. by cutting just one fat 'L' shaped area of the plastic. To be honest I am anal enough to have covered the LCD screens and remotes screens of my other units.. along with mobile phones, and of course the PDA... People were recommending a couple of things that sounded questionable. For example, using brasso/silvo polish and or toothpaste. This apparently scratches it up and then at some point it is good again (hard to believe). The other is using a solution from watch repair shoops, apparently they have products for getting scratches out of watch faces that are hard plastics and they will sell it to you.I haven't tried any of these things myself, thankfully the 910 has a smaller plastic face (but I am sure I will scratch it too). Something along the lines of http://www.radtech.us/Products/Icecreme.aspx will remove the scratches, along with numerous similar products on the market. bri Posted August 10, 2005 Report Share Posted August 10, 2005 Thanks to KJ_Palmer I got a PDA Screen kit in Malpins...eventually!Anyway covering the RH10 Remote worked beautifully...and no scatches there yet so probably made it all in good time.The RH10 screen itself is a bit different. I have one small mark right in the middle which I'm not willing to put toothpaste on...despite using the cleaning wipes (wet and dry) I still had a few marks. After 2 attempts at covering a) the whole left hand side from top to bottom (i.e. the front but not the buttons side) and then... the screen on its own...I'm not too satifised. I think the material of the RH10 itself doesn't lend well to these protectors and for all that the screen may be safer it looks 'worse' than before.By the way I used a squeegee-card (i.e. a supplied alternative to a credit card) to smooth all the air as much as I could.Any ideas? I have used it to polish out a scratch in my old MZ-1's display. NKS Posted August 14, 2005 Report Share Posted August 14, 2005 Im still looking for the best solution to protect my rh10 but meanwhile i use saran wrap to protect it from the minor scratches.. Can't be cheaper than that and when you remove all the air bubbles its completely invisible. Today Ive just changed my saran sheet for the first time after 3 months. On the first one ive cut all the buttons (took me a while!) but now its shaped like an L so it took 4min to replace.Ive use saran wrap from day 1 and if possible i always use the pouch too but it happened some times that i had to put the recorder right in my pocket when recording concerts and I dont have one single scratch on it!Hope this can help,NKS Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

First time ive covered all the buttons but now i just cut a L and leave the buttons uncovered.Like I said, it only prevents minor scratches, but so far it did the job for me before i find out a real solution ..
