NEW Panasonic SJ-MJ500

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. announced yesterday that it will release a new portable MDLP player: "SJ-MJ500" on October 1, 2005. Expected retail price is approximately 23,000 yen and will be available in five color scheme – blue, pink, orange, green and white.

For the forum’s interest, the SJ-MJ500 includes a docking module with removable speakers.

Specifications

Maximum Output: 3.5mW+3.5mW (with speakers ~ 120mW+120mW)

Size (Main Body): 78.9(W)×72.5(H)×12.9(D)mm

Weight: 63g (with attached rechargeable battery ~ 90g)

Bundled Accessories: Remote control with liquid crystal, earphone, Docking module with removable speakers, AC adaptor, NiMH rechargeable battery, rechargeable battery case, carrying porch and dry battery case.

I recall hearing that Panny's had a unique size headphone-jack on the body, 2.5 mm instead of the standard 3.5.  Is it still the case with this unit and do Panny remotes have a 2.5 or 3.5 phone-jack?

Good question. There's no mention of a change in Panasonic's press release; I am sure it's still the same.

It does look a lot like a modernised version of the SJ-MJ50, looks like all the specs are the same. Very nice unit and dock although the remote looks boxy, not very sleek. Disappointed not to see a HiMD unitbut I suppose glad to see any new unit appear
