Hi

I want to buy a MD player to record high quailty CD's for resale, they will be nature and water sounds. I have been looking at the Sony MZ-RH10 but i am now put off because i will need to download to my computer and edit the sounds and also add some voice over.

From what i can tell is the software will restrict and also what i have heard about Sony copyright software built in.

Can anyone please tell what MD i should get, it must be high quailty recording in stereo.

many thnaks

Michael

Michael,

The RH10 should work fine for you. I have an NH900 with mic-in and have been making live music recordings in PCM mode (16 bit, stereo) with no problems. SonicStage 3.2 does not restrict in any way how you manage any recordings made from line-in or mic-in. They are saved on your PC in WAV format and you can edit as you like.

Suggest you look through the forum to choose the best model to suit your requirements.

Regards,

M

Resale?? You mean you want to sell these high quality cd's that are copied through the Hi MD? Are these your own CD's? If not, I believe this is gross violation of copyrights

I understood him to mean he wanted to do field recordings via Md of environmental sounds, burn to cd via computer and re-sell. So in a sense they are his own recordings - unless I misread him.

It's mainly the type of microphone and their placement that determines the resulting quality. All (Hi)MD units have reached a very high quality standard that can or cannot be limited by additional equipment. Focus your attention on external equipment and your recording technique.

Nature sounds are still free to use.

I would say, either the RH910 or the RH10.

If you use it a night, take the RH10.

If you use a Mac for Editing, take the MZ-M100.

Excuse me for butting in but I'd like to ask two questions:

1) Isn't the RH10 the same as the MZ-M100???

2) Why the MZ-M100 if using a Mac?

Thank you,

David
