DerTapir
I´ve got him !!! (MZ-NH1)Here is my question: Is it possible to work with 320 kbps atrac files on an MZ-NH1 Hi-MD recorder, or should i import my audio CDs in just 256 kbps. Skradgee
Your options are either that (256kbps) or Atrac3plus 352kbps. No 320kbps on 1st or 2nd generation Hi-MD units.

DerTapir
Ups I think i found the answer by my own:So for all newies (like me ) :When you want to get the best quality, import cd with the wav option.when you connect your HiMD recorder to your PC you can select the bitrateof 356kbps Atrac3plus in the transfer menu. (by selecting "specified bit rate transfer mode" )Sorry for my fast question. next time, i will try out (try thinking before asking silly questions greetingder Tapir
akijikan
Just so you know, WAV, while lossless, will use obscene amounts of disc space.A suggested alternative would be one of the ATRAC Advanced Lossess options. Syrius
Try ripping to Windows Media Lossless. No, seriously. This is one WMA that doesn't suck. SS sees WMA-L as variable bitrate, and AFAIK, my Hi-MDs made from those are very gapless. Way better than Atrac Lossless.
The Low Volta
A suggested alternative would be one of the ATRAC Advanced Lossess options.I'm afraid it isn't as HiMD's can't use atrac-lossless and any further conversion is done using the lossy part (you have to specify bitrate with the lossless, which produces a lossy part which is used for transfer and recoding)...so useless and degrades SQBut I've read somewhere here that if you do that you'll lose gapless playback even when the files are converted to Atrac, correct?there's a difference with SS when transferring all the tracks from an album by selecting them all (this produces gaps) and selecting the album (in album view) and transferring as a whole (this produces no gaps) IIRC
