dex Otaku
Do you mean a computer drive?Last I knew, there were no computer drives that could specifically read DVD-A. Have you tried googling "dvd-audio drive"?Self-correction: WinDVD and other progs suppor DVD-A playback but I've never seen ripping software. d'oh. streaml1ne
There's actually a bug in WinDVD (or one of those programs) that allows you to rip the high resolution tracks directly to your PC. The reference I have isn't coming up right now though:http://www.highfidelityreview.com/news/new...number=14550899The wikipedia article on DVD-Audio has links about it. mrsoul
Actually, I was referring to a component recorder/player that will be in my living room connected to my TV and receiver setup. Not a computer drive.
dex Otaku
In that case, have you tried googling "DVD-Audio player"?Pioneer sells players that do DVD-Video, DVD-Audio, and SACD. I have no idea what the models numbers are or anything of that sort. This is the type of equipment that doesn't eve make it to floor displays where I live, let alone get sold. Syrius
I have yet to see a single DVD-A available for purchase around me. Companies should face it. Who wants to pay 20 dollars for Hi-fi multichannel audio.. when they can get crappy songs at 128 kbps AAC on I-tunes for 99c. Sad but true. Who wants to pay 20 dollars for Hi-fi multichannel audio.. I'm hardly "average" but I would.SACD titles seem to be reasonably easy to find here. DVD-A media is nonexistent. Funny thing is, DVD-A compatible players -can- be found here, and at [relatively] reasonable prices. SACD players - not a chance. I've had my SACD copy of Dark Side of the Moon for over 2 years .. have yet to even *see* a player capable of playing back the SACD layer. I've been searching the filesharing nets for a DTS copy for as long as I've owned the disc, but no one has bothered transcribing it that I can see. It begs the question: what's the point? mrsoul
Dex-I am looking for a DVD Recorder, not a player. There are plenty of players that support playback of the DVD-A format but I have yet to find a DVD Recorder that supports playback of DVD-A(udio) disc.BTW, I have seen some Pioneer players that supposedly play DVD-A and SACD. I won't bother suggesting you try google again. I assume by now that you've searched things like "DVD recorder DVD-Audio". No suggestions. Good luck on your quest. streaml1ne
BTW, I have seen some Pioneer players that supposedly play DVD-A and SACD. Here take a look:These are usually dubbed as universal players. I don't think a recorder that also plays the high resolution format exists, nor do I think you'd want one. It'd likely have a commodity audio section which would defeat the purpose of high resolution playback.
dyonisus
Not to sure if this is what you re looking for but here is a short list of Panasonics. This here will help you out. Then here is where you can get the skinny on a good player/recoder. Good luck Mr. Soul
poe
Try asking this at avsforum.com they have both a SACD/DVDA and DVD recorder forums there. You will get a informed answer there as to whether one exist or not. For other people out there interested in SACD/DVDA there is a Samsung hybrid single or 5 disc models out there that you can get for under $150. I own about a dozen SACD and a Sony SACD/DVD player, I bought for a $150 at CC, it's worth the effort and expense.POE

Good luck Mr. Soul I will definitely take a look but I have noticed that Panasonic can be confused about it's specs, the web might say one format is supported when you download the manual you find out otherwise. Thanks again for the links.
