doomlordis
Sony UK press releaseThose who like to keep an eye on balanced sound levels won’t fail to appreciate the unit’s useful indicator, which displays a continuous graphical analysis of the sound spectrum during playback. By combining a large Organic EL display, new vertical Jog Dial, and shortcut Search button, the Hi-MD MZ-RH1 makes searching, locating, and playing music from a compilation of hundreds of songs easier than ever before. Simply hit the Search button or scroll the vertical Jog Dial to find music quickly by track, band, artist or album listed alphabetically. And regardless of whether you are looking at your Hi-MD MZ-RH1 WALKMAN in darkness, bright light or from an angle, its Organic EL display will make all information highly visible in clear, luminescent quality.YAaaaahhhhhhoooooooooooo! This unit sounds perfect to me with this and the MC40EL working!
Richard
Ok - just to clear this up - track titles are not visible on the unit display. Sorry to break the bad news. From our testing we can confirm this is the case. Also there is no search button on the unit.BUT as we will confirm for the last time the RM-MC40ELK is compatible.Sony EU have again (as was the case with the DH10P) put out some incorrect info on the websites in Europe. This has already been pointed out to them.If you can bear to hang on to around beginning next week when we will have the review out hopefully a lot of these doubts will be dispelled. RobA
So the rh1 does have a jog dial after all? Can anyone confirm?
Richard
So the rh1 does have a jog dial after all? Can anyone confirm? Grrr... no jog dial... But the play / ffwd / rwd switch rocks from side to side. That good enough?
MDfreak
So the rh1 does have a jog dial after all? Can anyone confirm? That is another mistake in the info... there is NO jog-dial, there is a jog-lever (a button you can move up to go forward or down to go back or press to confirm your choice)

You can't hold it down or something to find the song you are looking for? And it's pretty surprising that the title isn't displayed on the unit either. jaylen
You can't hold it down or something to find the song you are looking for? If you held it down, wouldn't it fast forward through the song you're listening to? Or no? Edited April 14, 2006 by jaylen
MDfreak
If you held it down, wouldn't it fast forward through the song you're listening to? Or no?Yes.But I operate my RH10 always by using the remote that has no jog-dial but also some kind of jog-lever and I never use more that 10 seconds to find a particular track. And if you realy want the jog-dial you can always buy a RM-MC40ELK.

You mean when searching or just that you can't view track titles on the display at all? If that is the case, that is certainly stupid! You mean when searching or just that you can't view track titles on the display at all? If that is the case, that is certainly stupid! You got that right! Sony really made some extreme errors on this player. The 40elk should be standard to atleast make up for some of these flaws.

RobA
The pictures and catalog show the Sony's war-horse stick LCD remote as the official remote.Which is exactly why I think the 40elk should be standard as stated before.
