fedestigliano
Hi,I have an old Sony MZ-R55, and can't buy a new one. Is it possible to conect my MD to the USB port so as to download mp3 on it? Even if it's not mp3, at least to download music easily, because I don't have any hi fi with the Optical port, and the quality of the analoge port is not so good....Can anyone help me! Thanks! Richard
The R55 doesn't have a USB port, so I think the answer is no.
fedestigliano
I thought that maybe there an adapter from the Optical port to an USB port... or maybe there's some way to modify it... Is there any other way to have a better sound on it by the Analogic port? Can i put mp3 on it?ThanksThe R55 doesn't have a USB port, so I think the answer is no. Richard
I don't know about any adaptors. Maybe you could convert your MP3 to wav then burn to audio cd and record to the optical in on the r55 or if you could find a sound card with optical out you could record to the optical in direct. greenmachine
There are usb to optical out converters, but you would have to record in realtime and your mp3s would be converted to atrac.
raintheory
One of these might do the trick:http://www.dansdata.com/xitel.htmShould be able to find one on eBay for a decent price.
Sparky191
You could buy a cheap PC sound card with an optical out. Then you can record via optical off that on to your MD. Or just pick up a cheap used NH600, or NetMD. That would be easier in the long run.
Roamer
At the same time, you might also find a second hand NetMD for a decent price from Ebay or the classified ads ...EDIT : Sparky191 was quicker than me on this ... Sparky191
Basically I'd get the newest one that the cheapest! Only problem with used units if that the lasers can go. Which is a small risk on older units. So try to get the newest one you can. A local store to me is advertising a MD for €59. Thats old stock, but new.http://www.xtravision.ie/xvContent.asp?id=71In the add it shows NF610 but the text says its a MH700. I'll check it out for you can confirm which one it is. If its a MH700, I might pick up a 2nd unit for myself.

Sparky191
Its not a proper web shop. But its a big chain here in Ireland. I'll check it out and see what it is. Maybe I could post it to you. Postage even registered wouldn't be that much. Edited July 20, 2006 by Sparky191
fedestigliano
Which one do you think is better and newer... I google arround and NF610 has radio, but less capacity, and MZNH700 has 1 gb capacity.

Sparky191
Actually they are out of stock. They probably only had one or two. No idea which one. If I find any more I'll let you know. Annoys me when they adverts so little stock like that. Edited July 20, 2006 by Sparky191
greenmachine
The NHF800 (US model only?) came with a radio remote, which should also fit on the NH700.

Sparky191
Transferring to NET MD the best quality you get is LP2. If you are happy with that then just get the Net MD. Edited July 26, 2006 by Sparky191
