doomlordis
Hi, I just want to know if anyone here knows if sony will be producing a new Hi-MD player/recorder or will the MZ-RH1 be the last unit produced by sony? Thanks In Advance.I think we will see another model, a contact of mine (very reliable in the past - described in detail the rh10 months before release and very close to Sony in Osaka) told me that Sony had another model ready for release with the RH1 , it was shelved as it was deemed to be detrimental to sales of the RH1.He described it as mainly black plastic with a LCD on the side ,not oled, looked a bit like a RH710 but no AA bump as it took gumstick, it could also upload. This is great news!I think we may see this unit at some point. He also said that Sony are very happy with RH1 sales , which he described as steady and on target. flexster
hmm i personally think that hi-md is not (commercially) succesful enough to compete with Apple or cheaper mp3 sticks. In Holland, when i tell people i use a Minidisc (if i tell them "hi-md" they look at me like i'm from Mars), i have to explain them what i mean by that..THAT HURTSI would like to see another new model though!! doomlordis
Dont think Sony is trying to compete with Ipod anymore, they are now marketing a recording solution.

khoa_tran87
Thanks for the response, I hope they will release new hi-md. I would really like a hi-md deck anyone here know of any? thanks again
MDGB2
If they are now gearing more towards marketing Hi-MD for recording (which was the Minidisc formats original purpose anyway) they MUST release a deck.Until then my JB-920 will soldier on. Let's hope your contact is right (I'm sure he is )and Sony will release the new model in the near future. He also said that Sony are very happy with RH1 sales , which he described as steady and on target. That's good news, too! bogon07
A new downloader would be nice.....DH1.More useful than a player only, anyway they released two of those (EH50/70)just before the RH1.doomlordis, any estimates for the release date. Somewhere around June/July2007 perhaps ?
viiv
I would prefer a new HI-MD drive instead of a downloader/budget unit. I am sure there are many of us who just want the uploading features and the USB 2.0 speed of the RH1 but don't want to pay $300 for a second unit. I would instantly buy a DS-HMD2 if it was released for about the same price as the old DS-HMD1. Heck, I would even buy a DS-HMD1 if I could find (silver) one brand new and sealed.
