brian10161
It is so hard for me to find Minidiscs in the GTA. The only 3 places I know of that have them, are Wal-Mart, Radioshack (none left now), and Canadian Tire. It makes no sense to me, ther only Minidiscs I can find in any of these stores are the Sony Color Collection discs, and they're 7 bucks a piece! A lot of the people on this forum are saying the discs are cheap, ie) 2 bucks a piece. $7 a piece for the discs is way to much. You can get 2 discs for 14 dollars or 5 for 25 dollars, but just the Color Collection ones. It makes me angry because I would like to get my hands on some different style ones.I'm thinking this summer I might order some online when I start working. I was just wondering what some of you guys think about the fading Minidisc era.
Richard
Have you tried Minidisc Canada? They have quite a few different designs. Link* Moved to Find Your Minidisc
brian10161
I have looked at their website, but I never thought too much of it because it looked a little funny. I've noticed lately, when you search on google, websites will often come back with the website URL having part of the search in it and with a "-" symbol.I'd prefer to find a store with the MiniDisc in stock then I go in and buy/receive all at the same time. I don't really like ordering things online, mainly because of all the horror stories I've seen. So, ordering online will be a last resort and not until the summer. Thanks for the reply

I was just wondering what some of you guys think about the fading Minidisc era.Bah! Don't bother with those places brian...my suggestions are:- Minidisc Canada. Their site is a bit wonky and quirky, but they are reliable, quite easy to deal with and are very helpful should you need to return stuff.- In Toronto, take the subway to Yonge/Bloor and walk south. I think it's on the east side, i.e. on your left walking south (haven't been back there in a while), but I think the place is called Golden Electronics, on Yonge St. You can get 80min TDK disks there for $3-$4. Minidisc Canada will be a bit cheaper, but if you're wary of them you can go to this place.- If you don't mind hopping a bus in NE Toronto, you can also try Pacific Mall: http://www.pacificmalltoronto.com/. A lot of stuff from Asia, and they only accept cash (you can feel the grey-market ambiance there!), but there are some shops with a decent supply of MDs. Check the directory for the electronics shops, but my photographic memory just kicked in to tell me that when you enter, turn right and go to the "top-right" end of the mall (oriented from the directory at the front). But you'll find them at any rate. BTW, nothing wrong with trying to bargain, either Hope this helps.peaceWaywardTraveller
maxthrusters
Minidisc.ca gets my recommendation. It's where I bought my MZ-NH1, MZ-DH10P, as well as loads and loads of blanks during a promotion of some kind that they had. No provincial tax either, if ordering from outside Quebec. Also, all MD sold in Canada are subject to the copyright levy. Last I checked it was wholesale 0.79$ per disc...which means the retail cost is presumably jacked up between 1.58$ - 3.16$ per disc depending on the retailer's margin. In some cases it's worthwhile to look abroad for MD blanks, particularily with 'free shipping' deals. Blanks imported by the end user are not subject to the levy.
digital
.Perhaps there is a 'mass-buy' in the air: that is, one of us bring in a 100-lot case from the States' and share them out here for cost plus 5% or something?Andrew D.cdnav.com.
