bratt
Who's selling them for 150 eur ?
gidion27
They are second hand. Do you think 150 eur for the Sony mz-nh1 is a fair price?
sfbp
These prices make no sense, IMHO. Don't buy these at long distance - make sure you have a working unit in your hand before you part with cash. If you know the seller personally, snap them BOTH up - you can resell whichever you decide you don't need.
gidion27
Thank you for the advice, I can inspect both units before buying them so that should not be a problem.
bobt
The NH1 is far more solid but doesn't offer the RH1's uploading capabilities. If I were me I would snap both up, best of all worldsBob
gidion27
Thanks bob, I am indeed tempted to buy both and pick to one I like I can always sell the other.
bridb
I have both machines, and just purchased 2 NH600's for general uses, so I am getting there for my lifelong use of MD.
Hungerdunger
From my own experience, the NH1 is better built. My RH1's jog control misbehaves sometimes, and occasionally the unit goes dead until you remove and re-insert the battery. I have seen both these faults mentioned by others. However, I download a lot of Podcasts, and use the RH1 for these as you can transfer MP3s onto it without the need to convert to ATRAC format. I don't have any precise figures for you, but the savings in time over a year are quite considerable.
sfbp
In addition, being able to move stuff to/from an MD (with NO actual conversion to the sound encoding) is important. I have recently discovered that now I have a way of moving MDLP around it is not bad as a storage format, and can be played on most units. The same goes for MP3, I am sure. I have noticed that Atrac<-->MP3 seems to fail in both directions, from a sound quality point of view.So I agree completely.
Strungup
Hi-MD transplant project #2 (#1 being putting a 1GB Hi-MD MiniDisc in a more original design standard MiniDisc cartridge) would be to put the RH1's innards into the NH1's body...I'm sure someone with some spare time, enough electromechanical skill and the appropriate tools could manage this.God that would be soooooo sexy .............
