0 kamil
sony doesnt need to do anything except re-produce the HD5 with a scroll wheel and 5band EQ for mp3s.Why they havent is beyond me, but proof that sony doesnt really care.

0 lecram1971
I am waiting for someting like Ipod Video 60gb, but with Atrac, but everyday I am more sure the format is going to an end. I think Sony will give HDD equipments in the near future that will only play MP3 or WMA or similar.Sony Ericcson use MP3, not Atrac, now Sony give new flash equipment that use MP3 and WMA, what do you think this is?Forgive me, but I am losing my faith!!!! Sony, try to return this lamb to the correct road of the ATRAC!!!

Ha! We haven't gotten anything in the states since the E-series flash players and the NW-HD5...which is no longer being sold. I was supriesed to see Sony introducing a new flash player when they haven't even released the A-series here in the states! What is with Sony's desire to redesign a product so often? The HD5 was in the US for about a year and it has already been discontinued...with no replacement?SONY, this constant changing of the product line just make it difficult for the consumers to keep track of them all...especially when there are different versions for each country. Gaah.
0 MDX-400
sony doesnt need to do anything except re-produce the HD5 with a scroll wheel and 5band EQ for mp3s.Why they havent is beyond me, but proof that sony doesnt really care.LOL why they haven't??? When a company discontinues an item, believe me, they do not go back and make another version of it. Sometimes you'll see an updated/revised version of a product, but if it is discontinued and they release another model to replace it? They aren't going to go back to it.I noticed a lot of people seem to continue talk about firmware updates, new accessories, etc. for players like the HD5. I always think (and am now going to say) get over it! It's discontinued, done finished, over. If you like the HD5 then you're still free to buy one (or even another one) and use it the way it is and with the accessories available. But don't think Sony is somehow going to re-release it and start supporting it with new accessories again.Perhaps Sony will design a new/another player somehow similar to the HD5 but the HD5 is discontinued period.Personally I never liked the HD5--in fact out of all of the HD1/2/3 and A-series, the HD5 is the only one I don't really like. Functionally it isn't much different, I know--I mainly dislike it because IMO it's very stupid looking/ugly.Scroll wheel is an interesting idea. I don't mind a real scroll wheel (something similar to what they have on the MC40ELK remote) but the iPod's weirdo move-your-finger-around-in-a-circle thing I don't like that at all--I prefer the HD1/3 navigation to that... The HD5 is pretty close for being the better DAP from Sony. Removable batter, standard USB jack, slim and metal casing. IMO the Axxxx is actually a step back. Just re-do the HD5 with color screen and add support for all Atrac bitrates.Even better, why not improve on the versatile Vaio pocket.Oh well, we're talking Sony here. 0 Beethovenian
One thing I don't understand about the NWA series, and the bigger step back in my opinion, is why they're so much bigger than the HD ones. Sony used to be the reliable choice when it came to pocketability, and now what they have is almost twice the size of the iPod without having the "aura" of stylish and cool of the iPod (not that I think the iPod is cool or beautiful; indeed, I find it so bland). 0 Ascariss
there is a logical reason why the A3000 is larger
0 kaledi
I have a HD5, my mate has a A3000 and my bros an A1000. The A3000 is a bigger, but nowhere near as much as the dimensions and weight suggest. In a practical sense, the A3000 does not feel bigger than a HD5 - all those curves distort the proportions! They aren't going to go back to it.I'm not saying that they have to go back to it, aesthetically it was OK. But the basic specs on the unit was what made the HD5 an amazing product:-small size-removable battery-30/40 hour battery life for mp3/atrac-20gb storage-excellent sound qualityAll sony needs to do is make another hard drive dap, add a scroll wheel, and finally give users the possibility of 6band EQ for mp3s, and theyve got an AMAZING unit thats guaranteed to sell (unless they make it ugly). Now, the real problem is:Sony doesn't seem to care about profits in the mp3 player market, and even if it does, theyre going about it wrong; they need to advertise more. 0 sif
there is a logical reason why the A3000 is larger Why do you say this, is there some hidden functionality to be unlocked by a firmware upgrade? Or am I being too subtle and you are just referring to a larger HDD?
