msteeln
Does anybody sell the RH1 new in America besides the too expensive $600 listing on amazon? My old standby, adorama in NY, had no clue about this item. Has anybody used ebay for sellers in Hong Kong? I'm leery of using the Asian on-line markets. sfbp
I know Montreal isn't in the USA, but these guys are pretty reliable: http://pauseplaystop.com/shopexd.asp?id=776 Cheers Stephen
Azureal
Agreed Stephen, I bought my black RH1 at pauseplaystop and they were great. I think they may only have the M200 left however.
sfbp
Indeed, I think the RH1 on its own simply is not available.

Expect to pay close to $400 or more for a new MZ-M200. In a few years, $600 will be a good deal.
jmsla
Go to www.markertek.com, it's a brick and mortar store in upstate NY, absolutely reliable. They have the MZ-M200 for $373.59 and the Hi-MD discs for $5.35 ea. Shipping cost is minimal as well. You can also do a search on craigslist.org using Google's advanced search. Put in HI-MD minidisc for the search term and for the forum (at the bottom of the advanced search window put in craigslist.org. You will see all current and unfortunately expired adds for Hi minidiscs from all States. I recently got an almost unused RH1 for $325. You have to check almost daily to catch a deal but, it can be worth it. Also search using just minidisc to pick up a few additional Hi-MD listings but, more to wade through. Soundbox
Why not order from Amazon UK? In stock (new) at under
sfbp
Typically Amazon refuses to ship electronics outside the country they are being sold in. That's certainly the case for both Canada and the USA. In the past I haven't found that much I cared about on Amazon UK though DVD's are frequently a bargain (and they do not attract this prohibition). You'd need a relative over there. msteeln
Yeah, it look's like buying a new one in the good ol' USofA is toast. All the suggestions came up empty, but I thank you. If the UK stores won't send it, and I can't even get in touch with any so far, I guess I'm left with risking the time consuming Hong Kong or Japan/ebay route. How depressing... I really was hoping to have one for July 4th. This is nuts!

OUCH, I tossed my shot at this http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-MZ-M200-Hi-MD-Sony-ICD-P520-Sony-ECM-959A-/170502250067?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27b2b9de53 the other day because a review said the RH1 could upload direct, only to find out immediately after that it was bogus info... so my head is exploding now. Thanx, we'll see what happens this week per my options.

msteeln
Canada, hmmm, seems I've heard of it... Nothing comes up in a search, can you direct me to a seller anywhere there that will ship to the US and has a comparable price of $280 w/free shipping? That's a very good deal, but I would certainly entertain other possibilities that would relieve my new UK friend of his gracious offer. sfbp
Your shipping from the UK may be quite expensive. By all means check it out, I have had lots of good deals by getting my ancient papa to send things on. But the MZ-M200 includes a mic valued at $80 or so. So you are comparing apples and oranges. I suspect you might get something resembling a warranty if you buy from Canada, in addition to the "right" wall charger.
jmsla
Nice find Albert. Too bad Beach doesn't have md batteries or discs. But, that's a great price for a factory new M200 and no shipping charge. I've ordered video items from them before. I can't quite understand the resistance expressed for two domestic and reliable retailers selling a factory fresh M200, which is identical to the RH1 but, w/ an accessory mike, for $373 and $350. Sure, order one from Canada for $412 plus $20.00 shipping. ???, -ja
msteeln
Excellent points. I was going to ask about the wall plug compatibility in my UK correspondence. If that indeed is an issue that can't easily be dealt with then going for the M200/USA is probably my best alternative to going the Ebay/Asian HR1 route. And I do need at least one mic soon..., maybe it's good enuf for the lower vol. gigs. Found a decent US M200 pricer equaling my adorama guys so things may yet work out sensibly, even before the 4th w/luck. Thanx for the good words, very helpful! sfbp
I suspect the charger is fine (100-240V, 50/60 Hz marked on mine), but you WILL need the right plug (of a somewhat standard type) and cable to connect the charger to the wall. Pause Play Stop are about $60 more than the amazon UK after allowing for the microphone. But some of that $60 may go on postage. Not sure how much. It's more like $300 US plus international shipping, import duty, bla, bla. The Canadian store is called Pause Play Stop formerly Minidisc Canada.
