Soundbox
I bought one of these 'back in the day' and it has the same solid composite build as the MA-XG tapes. It is about double the weight of a standard RXG disc and it has a re-writeable lable so you can rub it off. Also the box is oversized. Anyone else got any of these? Are they a higher performance disc or was it just a bit more heft? I was going to stock up on a few more but can't see them for sale on eBay. Azureal
Is this the disc with the metal casing? I saw one of that variety on eBay pretty recently, the price was really high for a single 80 minute disc but it sure seemed cool.
zokuchou
I have a couple for collection purposes but never done an acid comparison test against standard discs. Cool discs but just use standard discs for recording.
Azureal
Check it out Soundbox: current eBay Listing for XA-Pro disks. Price is steep, but I think this is what you were looking for.
sfbp
That looks like 4 for $85, not unreasonable as this makes them close to the price of (say) the MD Data disks as sold by Sony.
Soundbox
Thanks for the lead on those however perhaps a bit steep for me. It seems that the MD system as a whole has gathered an air of collectability and prices reflect that. I miss the days when such goods were easy to get and cheaper too. I add a photo of my disc. jonathanpotato
Are they a higher performance disc or was it just a bit more heft? Rare sturdy and beautiful piece but not better than standard discs in recording quality.

Visyvn
Please, where can buy Sony Hi-MD 1Gb and how much is it? And SONY MEDIA MDW-PRMD74 price 5 USD is cheap?
PhilippeC
Not expensive for a pro MD blank but why paying that much for a MD blank if it is not a beauty like a TDK Bitclub or Wa disc ? Hi-MD blank discs : eBay is the best way to find them.
Visyvn
Thanks PhilippeC! Sony Hi-MD 1Gb price 10USD is good price?
Kona702
Yes $10 for a new HI-MD blank is good...I've paid up to $25 for one once and I have seen them going for much more. But you have to be pretty desperate to pay over $25 for one.
PhilippeC
And if you can buy them for 6 or 7$ as second hand, don't give up
