zahne
My Sharp MD player is on the fritz. I've used it every month since 1997 so I'd say it had a good run. My whole MD collection is standard MD. Not even MDLP. So I'm not too choosy about what the unit class is. The most I'm looking for is one with a nice big display like my MD-MS702 and a good industrial design. The basic Sony portables tend to have that sliver size display. I really like that my Sharp display has a separate line for the track, decible level and the meta data. You know what I mean? Those fatter rectangular displays. I'll buy but I'd prefer a trade first. I have a Sony MZ-NH6000. It works perfectly but again, I need that big display. That's why I'm willing to part with it. I can do a trade or a trade plus cash. Or if mine if worth more than yours then a trade plus cash on your end. Whatever works! Since I'm using basic MDs I'm more into looks rather than specs for this one! PhilippeC
Anyway Net-MD MDLP recording units are not more expensive than SP only ones.
zahne
Ok then they are on the table as far as I'm concerned.
Sony_Fan
This RH10 is on ebay for less than $100 and less than an hour to go: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130846190396?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
zahne
Yeah it's tempting but it's iffy. They powered it on but they didn't test if the disc loads etc. I've run into that issue before and it's a easy thing that breaks on any optical device. I wish I had known about this before they posted it on ebay. I live about 20minutes from their location I could have tested it and gave them an offer. But from the picture the disc loads and it's blank. I emailed the guy and there are no accessories with the sale. Someone donated the unit to them. zahne
Actually now I'm thinking I'd be interested in an RH10/M100.
Sony_Fan
Actually now I'm thinking I'd be interested in an RH10/M100. There's an RH1 on ebay, it's only the unit, no accessories or box. The seller doesn't know much about the unit and says he's not sure if it works. I think all the unit needs is a power source and a disc to test it out. But it does turn on and open. I might bid on it.
zahne
I just got ordered an RH10 from a guy on Amazon. I got in touch and he was nice enough to bring down the price from $150 to $115. Includes a remote, battery and AC. The reason its a bit lower in price is that the volume down button is defective. I can live with that though.
sfbp
As long as you can use the remote to do Vol- during future expeditions to service mode <big grin>.
zahne
Yep that was the deal. He said he include a remote to control the volume. If I'm feeling brave, I might try and see if I can fix the button too. But we'll see.
sfbp
I just pray that the remote is reliable enough. It's not the volume per se that I'm concerned about... but if Volume is one of the things that doesn't work you will have problems fixing it a couple of years from now when you decide that you can no longer live with the NVRAM settings. And it's difficult to generate a single VOL- press with the rotary switch on most remotes.

zahne
Just got it the mail. It's in superb condition! The volume button is no where near as finnicky as I thought it would be. Scratches are minor. Haven't noticed any issues. Only thing is the battery is a little used. I'll need to replace it.
