BearBoy
Thought this might be of interest to anyone who has an MZ-RH1/MZ-M200 with a failed/failing OLED display: MZ-RH1 Compatible Display Modules Apparently @asivery is working on something similar for the MZ-RH10/MZ-M100 (some info in the comments on Reddit)
Richard
I would in theory like to try one of these for my RH1, but I don't think I have confidence / skills to take it apart (or more importantly put it back together again), coupled with the fact the jog dial is also kind of knackered on my RH1 means it's maybe not worth the investment for me. Awesome initiative though!
BearBoy
I suspect installing one of these would be beyond my skills/level of dexterity as well but it's great that there's now an option for the more capable to resurrect these devices. zzzuppp
I too don't feel I have the sufficient experience to effect the repair(s) - I have TWO MZ-RH1's with the Oleds gone on both. Would certainly be a worthwhile job because otherwise everything apart from playing a disc is pure risky guesswork, and these machines are otherwise so superb. I didn't know it was a manufacturing defect! I thought that the OLEDs naturally faded over time. Shame they don't offer a repair service! smteacsmo
I just completed the replacement of the OLED displays on my MZ-RH1. The design of the replacement part is really superb, a marvel of engineering! Disassembly and reassembly is, yes, quite complex with no margin for error, but there are step-by-step instructions and videos to ease the process. It is absolutely worth it, as the unit is now working as the first day, 15 years ago.
