akasan
There is a seller who is selling the 4gb NW-S706 for $139. Seeing as it is that the 2gb goes for $200 (US) does this look like a scam? Does the fact that the seller is a "power" seller guarantee that this is not a scam?

Seeing as it is that the 2gb goes for $200 (US) does this look like a scam? Does the fact that the seller is a "power" seller guarantee that this is not a scam?Is this not a scam? This ia really hard question. I would say no. This product is not sold in the USA, thus it is defined as gray market. In other words, Sony America will not provide any support for it. Based on the warranty period, I would suspect that it is end of inventory items and an Over seas model. For the warranty period you will have to send it back to the Seller for any problems. If you really want the NW-S706 and do not care about the warranty, get it. It is unlikely that you will have problems with it within the first year. Find out what the seller offers for the extended warranty, before your purchase.Ask questions, ask many questions.
0 RobA
I've seen the 4GB version go for as low as $100 US sometimes. It is not a scam, the value of them has just gone down ever since the 2gb version was going for around $70 for a long time because of woot.com selling a ton of them away for $50. 0 drmoze
YO! You can buy the NW-S706 brand new, right now, for only $95 shipped from buy.com. (Some of us are better at finding deals, I guess. I'm only posting this because I already picked up a couple for myself, to update my old NW-E107's.Here's the link:http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=...&adid=17662

In fact, when I first saw a picture of the pink version, it looked much much darker and richer that it turned out to be in real life, although the colour varied depending from which site you were viewing from. I think the real colour is closer to salmony pink . Maybe people were put off buying it once the colour difference had been noted. I don't think the majority of men would have chosen girlish pink as their first option. . .

0 markey
Argos in the UK are selling the NW-S705F (2 gig in Black) for £59.99. Not a bad price for UK residents. They're also offering a half price speaker system if bought with the player. There seems to be a lot of deals on the S7xx range at the moment, maybe something new from Sony soon? 0 juli_
It supports both the S7xx and A8xx doesn't it? I hope so!! Just cancelled order as I'm going to collect it from the store. There's not much information on it anywhere, although I did manage to find out that it supports 'portable audio players'. When I had the other model without the wi-fi bit, I used my 706 on it and my husband was able to use his Creative Zen on it although some of the functions weren't available for the Zen, like skipping albums I think.I'll let you know later if you want

0 juli_
It supports both the S7xx and A8xx doesn't it?OK, it works!! Haven't even bothered to look at the wireless side of it yet as I won't be using it for that, but the 808 fits on it just like the 706 did. Can't figure out how to change albums from the remote yet, so far I can only seem to go forward track by track, and there seem to be no instructions for using it just for playback - only instructions for the wireless aspect.Great price though, I'd never have seen it if it hadn't been for this forum )

Now did you buy it on it's own for £99 or did you pick up an S705 for £59 and then get the speaker system for £49:50?What?????? It was already half price at £99 (from £189) so I didn't get the Sony. Well, I'm taking it back next week and I'll get the 705 with it! You think they'd have mentioned it while I was there! Are you saying it's really only £49.50? But that's only 1/4 of the original price.I hate Argos, they're really fussy about bringing back electronics etc, I'll have to check their policy for returns (
0 markey
Now this is what I was thinking. The S705F is advertised as £59:99 and then at the bottom of the description it says something like "Half price speaker system when purchased with this item". Now the only compatible speaker system would be the one you bought today. So the question you need to ask is, "if i buy the S705F for £59, do I then get a further discount on the speaker system?" The way I see it is that if you buy the S705F you should then get the speaker system at a further reduced rate. I am probably wrong though, but it's worth checking it out. I have allways found Argos to be very good with their return policy. The only things they get funny with are ear phones and cam corders. Give them a call tomorrow, and if so get yourself down there asap before the deals gone, Edited July 14, 2007 by markey

Could bag yourself another deal and get back that sound signature you've been craving since selling your S706.Too good to be true I'm afraid. It's an Intempo portable speaker system you get with the NW-S705F. Original price £39:99, so you would get it for £19:99 I guess. Can't see how it would work with with the NW-S7xx range as it probably doesn't have the proprietory adaptor.

There is a seller who is selling the 4gb NW-S706 for $139. Seeing as it is that the 2gb goes for $200 (US) does this look like a scam? Does the fact that the seller is a "power" seller guarantee that this is not a scam?
