The NW-A80x is USB 2.0 i believe but doesn't really take full advantage of it. Consequently the transfer speeds are quicker than say Hi-MD but not as fast as some other Sony HDD players.

Apart from that what are your impressions?

Overall player is nice ,Interface is just same as NW-A1000.Buttons,Icons etc everthing is same except it plays videos and let us see photos thats it and little thinner than A1000.

It nice to see that they have put the heaphone jack at the bottom and not at the top like in A1000.

I will post the pictorial and review as soon as I will feel better .I did promised to post the pictorial on Saturday ,but my health is still the same .SO I will wait a bit more .

about the same as my S706.

Yeah ,I found that its same as my S703F .

The transfer speed on the NW-A800 series is fast.

There many additional work that SonicStage seems to do when transferring tracks to the NW-A800 series. It has been reported that the direct copying files to the NW-A800 series without utilizing the supplied software is very quick.

SonicStage does a lot of work before transferring tracks to the NW-A800 series. It would be better if Sony moved some of these functionality to the NW-A800 series in order to improve transfer times. I am unaware how using the Intelligent features in SonicStage effects the transfer speed. Transcoding however does effect the transfer speed.

SonicStage has two transfer speeds. The speed at which the tracks are actually transferred to the NW-A800 series is the first. The second, is the time that it takes a track to be prepared to be transferred to the NW-A800 series. The latter does not transfer tracks, but prepare them to be transferred.

This is very interesting actually, I own the NW-HD3 and the NW-A805. My HD3 plugs into a spare port on a USB 1 hub that I use for my mouse and keyboard. My A805 is connected directly to my P.C via a USB 2.0 port. however, files transfer to my HD3 quicker than to my A805 despite the difference in potential speed between USB 1 and 2. I reckon the restriction is in the flash memory speed on the A805. I wonder if I plugged my A805 into a USB 1 port would it ACTUALLY make any difference to transfer speeds............... I might check that out soon.
