Zbigas
I'm interested in what volume do you listen to your minidiscs at. I have read that some people always listen at 10/30 or even less... Well, I have not any hearing damage/disease, but louder music just has more "drive", energy and it is much more funnier to listen to louder music. Actually I prefer listening at 22/30 - 30/30, and listening at <=10/30 is only acceptable in the night for me. Maybe it's because of my neckband headphones that are a bit leaky relatively to the sound. So what's your prefered volume level?
iceeedtea
It really depends on what type of music it is, and the type of 'phones used. For example, when I listen to trance [which is, always], I plug in at around 15/30 with the EX71SLs, EQ tweaked for mids and treble [since the plugs have booming bass]. With the D66SLs, it's tweaked for bass, and it goes from anywhere from 10-15/30. I have yet to hit AVLS. Anything louder just hurts my ears. Christopher
It also depends on the unit [and the company] you're using. I primarily listen to my Sharp DS8, and I will note that it has a softer draw than a typical Sony unit [without a hd digital amp] - with more definition, of course. I would say that I usually listen to my music around 21/30, which is considered quite soft by most.
mAjEsTiC
for Sony i usually listen to my music from 15/30 ~ 20/30 through my earbuds and headsets...
Guest NRen2k5
I have an R500 and a relatively cheap set of Sony earbuds. I listen mostly at 30/30.
Christopher
Doesn't that hurt your ears?
KJ_Palmer
Sounds high to me, maybe it's the headphones (and what if you need to go over 30/30?). I always use Sennheiser earbuds (MX300/500) when out and about, or the "Sharpheiser" clones on my DR420. On the train/street I need about 12-17/30 for Sony and 15-21 for Sharps, minus about 20% indoors. I'm quite careful to make my recordings go up to 0dB though... darkfusion
It depends on the unit, the headphones, the music, the time of day, my mood etc. :rasp:
The_Stamp
using a 510, with sony MDR-35 (quiet you, its good enough quality for me) bus: 17-22 night: 12-17 small pressurized cabin airplane: 22-25 right now - 20 i try to keep it at 20. lots of bass without the high pitches (distort guitar, etc) intruding into the bass decreaser circuit. btw, using my MDR-35's, would it be worth it to get the 900 with the HD amp? or should i stick with the 800/700? (im noble to these earphones, cheap yet good quality. if i lose them (which i did twice now) i wont go bankrupt buy a new pair. )
BJ
It does depend on my whereabouts. At home, no more than 10/30 (on a Sony). Usually more like 5--I've got some bad tinnitus, so anything too loud really screws me up. Out and about (outside walking or at the gym to drown out the constant barrage of Bon Jovi/Scorpions/Aerosmith) I'll go as high as 15. I'm using some old Radio Shack Pro25s (made by Koss). And I do like the Scorpions & Aerosmith, but when you hear "Rock Me Like a Hurricane" three times during a 90-minute workout, it's time to throw on the 'phones. alieninhead
Yeah, it varies a lot for me too. Mostly it's between 15-25 but sometimes I go all the way to 30. I use the 19USD street style head phones, which always seemed at a good price point compared to how long they last (a year) rather than dumping my money into expensive bulky things and rarely use them so they last longer... ~a.i.h.
