It is a good Hi-md player. sound quality is not bad.I can say that it is better than the flash memory type mp3 player.

But there is a problem in NH900.

It cannot display any Chinese word both the remote controller or the unit itself.

It is very important for me.I am a Hong Kong people,I always put some Chinese song in it.

One interest thing is the Hi-md 1GB blank disc in HK is very cheap

It costs only HK$51.

What is the model number of the remote control? If it has a "K" in it, it should be able to display chinese characters.

How do you title your music? Using the Chinese version of SonicStage?

Have you considered taking your NH900 to the SonyStyle store in Causeway Bay and asking them how to make the Chinese work?

You are HK people?

I asked them by hotline. They said only NH1 can display Chinese.

No matter how you use another remote controller on NH900.

I am in HK, but I can't read or input Chinese. I have a NH1 but I don't use the chinese character function.

Is the NH1 the first Minidisc player than can support Chinese?

Maybe since the NH900 model is not sold in Japan, they did not give it support for Chinese characters.

Nice to meet you~~

It seems that only the Hong Kong version NH1 can support Chinese.

I need to translate all the Chinese title into English......

It is sold in Japan. It's called the World Tourist model.

Anyway, please refer to the help documentation, souls. It is listed within there on how to change the native language for the unit [which I assume is what you're referring to].

Audiocubes actually lists how to change this model back to English:

The 900's front is aluminum, back is plastic.

Yep, so very, very sad. I have a R900 and a R909. I was hoping to add a 9xx HIMD model to my collection, but I don't want a plastic (or partially plastic MD player/recorder). That is why I gave up on the R700 model. Ick.

Why sony why?

its cool. i was going to get the nh1, but the battery life is rather short. the mz-e10 provided long battery life but since the battery is embedded, you can't replace it (well i wouldn't want to tongue.gif )

half metal/plastic sounds ok to me

You are somewhat wrong here.

Nh1 battery lasts much longer then nh900 supplied battery. Nh900 battery is actually very crappy battery on its own. See this kurisu thread about batteries.

NH1 LiIo battery is not embedded, you can replace it,or even buy another one to use as spare.

Cheers

And in my experience, LiIon technology is more reliable and robust than NiMH. The gumsticks always seemed to wimp out on me long before I expected them to, whereas LiIon was always consistent and predictable. This is based on my R2, R-30, R-50, N-10 vs. R-90, R-900 etc. experience.

erm, i was referring to the nh900 + the attached battery case, giving it around 35 hrs playback versus the 17 hours the nh1 provides.
