The S 1 was not designed for listening "Hi-Fi", the use during sports activities makes it more of a "background music" rather than excellent fidelity. I sometimes use it as I go cycling, and, honestly, does the work for which it was designed. In my opinion sounds better than the N 505 (a lot) .... I'm not a fan of Hi-MD, an old user of tapes are tied equation 1 cd - 1 md. Also listening to rotation all my mds, I record almost exclusively in mdlp2 mode.
