I got curious and ran the text of his listing through translate. It seems there are a couple of defects. Apparently the jog lever has been abused, but "the remote" is the workaround for that. Additionally, there is a bad contact--which is what the binder clip resolves. For that condition the price should be cut quite a bit more. It is definitely a good option for someone who must have RH1's upload capability, but only at a substantially reduced price (to what he's already asking). Edit: Actually I just checked. I thought he initially listed it higher. I'd still pass, but at about $167 US, if it doesn't get bid up higher and he doesn't gouge you on the shipping AND he guarantees it works exactly as described, it's almost fair. This is all assuming you just want it for upload capability and it maintains its current allegedly functional state for awhile. A lot of caveats--so, I pass for that reason and I already have a perfectly good RH1. It's worth noting that ebay states that the listing is covered by standard PayPal protection for full purchase price. It is always wise to fully test anything you get on ebay the moment you receive it to make sure that it functions as described in the listing.

Sharp's 24-bit ATRAC vs Sony's ATRAC Type-R?

I don't think poor taste is bannable, dude. Sorry, pchcm--don't mean to razz you so much, but you should probably re-list that without the bling. You're going to get people asking for pictures that show the condition of the unit under your cover anyway. The binder clip is pretty scary too.

I did install Ultimate and still had the problem--but I had installed a different version first. Only after I uninstalled SS, removed all the ghost devices, removed the oem*.inf files associated with Sony devices and finally reinstalled SS 4.3 Ultimate did it resolve the issue. As far as following what's in the first post--I want to maintain the capability of plugging in my other units without going through the fix again.

Looking for genuine pre-recorded Michael Jackson MDs
Abby Normal replied to Sony_Fan's topic in Classifieds
I've seen these a lot on ebay lately--some commanded quite a premium price. The only exception to that is "Dangerous"--that one seems to be priced lower than the others. -
By the way, I just got my RM-MC40ELK 3-line remotes. Maybe this is what you need. They have a button that lets you cycle through the different equalizer presets--easy-peasy. If you need a special preset that maxes out bass, most units have a couple of user customizable slots. Upon further examination, that button (Sound/Sound Set) with single presses just toggles between the different enhancement modes, at least on the RH1: Normal, V-Surround, Equalizer, and Volume Normaliser After selecting one of these then to access the different presets of a particular mode (if it has presets) you press the button again and hold for 2 seconds--then you can switch between presets using the jog dial. Still, pretty easy.

No, I'm saying that no NetMD unit has optical input AND "bass function" as you define it (see the word "AND"). There are NetMD units with optical input and equalizer settings which can enhance bass--but if you are looking for a NetMD unit with optical in AND a special bass enhancement circuit such as "digital megabass", then yes, I am saying there is no such NetMD unit.
-
Call Sony. As we've said already, what you ask for doesn't exist. You can get bass enhancement, but not "megabass" enhancement. You just have to be willing to tweak the equalizer settings.

According to the manual (page 176) it is USB 2.0 "Compliant". There are numerous stories of Sony technology underperforming on non-Sony formats--like some sort of internal "hacktivism" by a loyal Sony engineer. Maybe this is what's happening here. I assume you were transferring MP3s. It wasn't converting to ATRAC during this transfer, right? NWZ-X Series Operations Guide They might also be using older, cheaper flash. Flash performance is all over the map. They might even only be using a single channel interface for their implementation. Frankly, at this point, if I wanted the latest MP3 flash player I'd probably get the unmentionable here. I'm actually going to be switching cell carriers again soon and will probably get the unmentionable's phone product.

Without more information, it's hard to say. Based on what you've said, it sounds like the pause function is being activated without your intending. Try some obvious things first. Try other discs. Remove the battery for a bit and reinsert. Are there any error messages being displayed? I had originally intended to post a link to an article regarding how to reset the unit--but then I realized it was not for your unit. Sorry for the confusion. Let's hear what others have to say on this issue and whether there is a way to reset the RH910.

Are you talking about the "Virtual Sound" preset feature? How does that work exactly--the manual doesn't go into that much detail. Is the "V-SUR C (Club)" setting more or less what he's looking for? (i.e. bass boost?) In combination with the "Heavy" equalizer setting, I guess? FYI, if you're looking specifically for "Digital Mega Bass", there is no such animal that meets your other criteria. The last non-HiMD unit to have such a feature (with line-in) was the G755 and it is not NetMD capable.

LOL at listing saying the words "milky white bottom"--followed by your comment about it being "defiled". Rare blank MiniDisc softcore pr0n! The listing goes on to say that you get a sealed pack. The picture just portrays an open one for your ogling (my word, not theirs, ) Astounding final price--nearly 6 dollars per disc. That's about what you pay for HiMD these days.

Oh, here is the manual, apparently: Sony CMT-M333NT/M373NT User Manual The reference page for your unit on this forum: CMT-M333NT/M373NT Sony-Asia's official support page for your class of units: Support for Micro Hi-Fi System From which, if you select your model from the drop-down, it also brings up the manual we have mirrored here. Good score, by the way--and welcome to the forum!

Download (and be prepared--SonicStage can be unkind to newbies) this distribution of SonicStage 4.3 here: SonicStage 4.3 Ultimate Standalone Installer

See this sticky in the Software Support forum: A solution to the "slow SP upload" problem on the RH1 The problem is you kind of have to read the whole string and digest to get the right solution that works even if you plug in other units. I think it probably needs to be written up again definitively with the corrections so people don't get lost.

Transferring audio data from recorder to computer

If I'm not mistaken, I believe several Macs have minitos connectors--the same ones that are on MD portables. -
RM-MC38EL remotes for $10usd including shipping?
Abby Normal replied to ceramiccactus's topic in Minidisc
Two things: This is the Hi-MD forum--the question was for the moderators. I meant no offense. Edit: I was actually concerned your question wouldn't get the exposure you needed in this forum.I did answer your question insofar as I implied that I believe he can be trusted to provide a remote control that isn't a lemon. You answered your own question the same way I answered it--by checking out his feedback. It's true that his actual MD units aren't the cheapest--but I have occasionally seen some good deals on that and for items that are not exactly common. -
RM-MC38EL remotes for $10usd including shipping?
Abby Normal replied to ceramiccactus's topic in Minidisc
I've seen his stuff on there a lot as well. Personally, between his feedback and how his merchandise looks I'd have no problem dealing with him--all that's left is for him to post something I can't resist. Should this be moved to Off-topic or Classifieds? -
Hehehehehe. Yes, of course, I must! Seriously, though--in this case I thought it was important that I say something positive about this offer. Without going into messy details, I'll let you draw your own conclusions as to why.

Oy vey--that'll teach me to look for deeper explanations when Occam's Axe will do nicely.

I'm looking for media cataloging software. This is a partial list of wanted features. If I tried to be all inclusive this post might be difficult to read. It should have as many of the following features as possible (and more): A client/server model that supports at least 2 simultaneous users. Windows, Linux, and OS X clients--or have a web interface that compromises NONE of the functionality. Catalog Music, keeping track of and being able to sort/browse/search by media format on top of the other usual criteria such as genre (should be able to label with multiple genres, too), artist name, album title, song title, etc.) Catalog Video, similarly to Music Catalog Books, physical and electronic For physical media, check-in/check-out Cover Art (with a thumbnail view while browsing/searching) Bar codes (!!--almost forgot--I do have a scanner) etc,etc I guess I should ask some professional librarians. Anyway, just post some ideas here along with links, reviews, screenshots, trial versions, etc. Thanks.

I think he's referring to the virtualization subsystem that's accessed in the compatibility tab--but I can find no reference to his colloquialism anywhere. It could be just his own personal nickname for it. Please enlighten us, Mr. Avrin. I think i found it: AXE-Application Execution Environment I still can't find anyone using this in the context of Windows 7 though.

That rings true. Duh, I should've known this was because Sony Entertainment has to "protect its interests." I knew drivers must be the culprit, though I didn't realize in this case the blame is squarely on Sony's greed and not Microsoft. Knee-jerk reaction, sorry.

That's absolutely fair, folks. In this quantity this is a comparable price to current retail. All things being equal I prefer to buy from a board member. I'm not in the market for this quantity right now, otherwise I'd jump on it myself.
