  1. Actually I just bought it to have a MD unit with an optical out to plug into a Digital Audio Convertissor (like my Arcam Balck Box 3 that I have in France). I suppose that the music will sound better compare to analogue out. Can you confirm that to me ? Could this machine sound better than an MD deck, that is also a question. Anyway, I need to come back in France first (next summer) to check the possibility of the machine. Then I will bring back the machine in Vietnam where I live. Tascam MDCD 1 MK2, a professional MD also has CD and MDLP : http://cgi.ebay.fr/Platines-MiniDisc-Tasca...2|39:1|240:1318 much much more expensive anyway !
  2. I just bought one for 100 Euros (the reserve price) on ebay.fr The seller is selling another one just right know ! Sony MDS-B5 (mode SP only) all details of the machine on this site here : http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDS-B5+B6P.html I let it in France since the next summer, perhaps definitively. The machine has professional analog outputs (XLR format) and also numeric outputs (SPDIF and AES/EBU XLR format). I will compare them in France. I have there an old DAC Arcam Delta Black Box 3. Perhaps then I will bring back the Sony MDS-B5 in Vietnam where I live. I have also a MZ-NH900 and a MZ-RH1.

  4. MZ-R70, this was my first own MD unit. I got a MZ-R70 in year 2000 to record (in stereo) a very long professional seminar. What a jump, compare to my old "micro-cassettes". I used to record the first seminar. Bobt is right the sound will be perfect if the microphone is far away from the machine AND you pencils box. Sit close to whom speak, ever else all is between you and the speaker. If I does not mistaken, the problem is you will NOT be able to transfer on your computer what you have recorded excepted if you have also a MZ-RH1/M200. It is why you should choose an Hi-MD model who can do that if you have the opportunity. Philippe, from Vietnam
  5. I found a month ago a MZ-EH1 (grey) in a the vietnamese shop for $210. Look a little bit expensive at the first sight (it is the same price than a MZ-EH1 imported with direct-japan.com). I did not bought it because I was waiting for my sister in law to bring me a MZ-RH1 from California. She failed to do it, so when I decided to come back to the shop, the MZ-EH1 was gone ! !
  7. Hello, Happy new year from vietnam The cost for a MD is similar in Vietnam : from 20.000 to 25.000 VND (8 to 9 RMB). Choice : only around 20 shops sell them in Saigon, above all 80 mn Sony Color Collection et 80mn "HO" TDK (less expensive). I have found last week a beautifull "Fine" TDK MD. What the price for a "new" (sic) MZ-EH1 in China ? I can have one for $210. I have found also 2 non Hi-MD MD recorders for around 1.000 RMB. And some old (but "new") Victor, Sony & Panasonic bookselves I definitively stop to listen to my Ipod Video 30g. Crap (even lossless is crap). My MZ-RH900 is connected to a Creative X-Fi Xmod sound card then my Cyrus IIIi amplificator. I have order to my family in america an MZ-M200 but not sure It will be available before somebody come before the Têt (vietnamese new year). Thanks
  8. Hello, I got a problem with the buttons on my MZ-NH900 unit which did not work any more. Because I live in Vietnam and also because Minidisc is not officialy* supported by Sony Vietnam they accepted to send my unit to Singapour. So I finnaly noticed that they changed also the SCREEN (with the buttons it is the same electronic part) for around 30 euros. Maybe you will pay more in your own country (*) but you can find in Vietnam on the market if you have time to search... - MD japanese bookselves (Victor/JVC, Sony...) for $150 / $220 (no HI-MD bookself, so sorry) - MD / Hi-Md recording units for $150 / $230 (never see a MZ-Rh1, so sorry) - MDs but no Hi-MDs : one 80mn MD is $1,5 ! - the very last gumstick batteries 1,2V 900 / 1400 mA for $7 / $10 - the very very last battery charger for gumstick battery for $10 - charger 3V / 1A for MZ-NH900 unit for $7 I used also a Creative X-Fi Xmod with my MZ-NH900 -------------> the sound is so great !
