  3. Hey guys (and gals), I just wonder what is causing my NH700 to warm up on me. In the morning when I wake up and so I don't disturb anybody, I like to crank up (20/30 and a custom EQ with both the 100 Hz and 10 KHz bands turned up for maximum performance) my tunes with either of my IEM's or cans, and after about 30-40 minutes of solid continuous use, I take the unit out of my pocket and I notice the unit has warmed up a bit. I have had this great unit for over 3 years, is it telling me that it is "on its way out"? If so, I am sure as hell glad that I bought tons of backups, as I have read on both the T-Board and on the MDCF that today's units "give up the ghost" too, too easily. 4. After burn-in (through constant use), they really sound great, in fact the bass is actually pretty good, and rivals some of the better under-$100.00 USD cans, and it certainly has more bass than the NC22s I also own, as well as a powerful 106 dB of sensitivity. I highly recommend them (the EX90's) as they seem to have both a very well-balanced and well-rounded sound altogether. Do you ever notice that cans (in the same EQ setting) seem to have a lot more bass but virtually no highs? Well, the NC60's I own have pretty good bass and great, but overdone (shrilling, YIKES!) highs, but, they also (along with the NC22s) seem to lack the midrange needed to give it a good overall feel. On the other hand the D777SL's I own seem to have real good range overall (at the same 106 dB) but require the midrange frequencies to be slightly cut in order to get the highs, as the midrange seems to be real fat on them. But then, it seems like every set of IEM's or cans need a little tweeking of the onboard EQ/MegaBass setting to get the sound that you want.
  5. ...and that same radio remote also works with the 700 as well, too.

  8. Some sad news for all those who were planning to get yourselves either the MDR-D777LP (U.S.), and the legendary and always-dependable MDR-A34 headphones" It seems like Sony's eventual and systematic elimination of most of its older gear, and these phones were some of the casualties, and it showed up in the SonyStyle website. I tried the Search function on the site, and they didn't show up. Now I know what some of you think of the D777SL/LP Altus headphones, what do most of you think of or remember about the A34 headphones, as supplied original equipment (included as the A34SP phones with 0.5m cord) on most (now "legacy") MD Walkmans made throughout the mid-to-late 1990s? The MDR-A34L units were also readily available for years at any decent stereo store (Circuit City, Best Buy, etc.) and definitely gave more bang for the buck (MSRP $14.95 USD). IMO, the MDR-A34 (not to be confused with the cheaper-built MDR-W/A034) units were the best ever to be included with any protable unit, and have always been there for me when I need them, and they were powerful enough (a whopping 108 dB!!!, and boy they were loud!!!) to allow me to turn down my units to not only save battery life, but also amp life. The only drawback I can find to these legendary phones is that because of its MegaBass design it does have a tendancy to lack (although its frequency stats show different) the highs produced by high-hats, cymbals, and other percussion instruments.
