  1. When you just start to transfer, you will see red bar in addition to green bar from Lulu's picture. The red bar indicates estimated file size on the player while the green bar represents file that is transferred.
  2. If you understand Japanese, here is the link. You download this software from outside of Japan. BeatJam 2007 The only down side is that it is not free. But updating version is free though.
  3. Well, I buy DAPs to listen to music; thus, the sound quality is the most important factor for me. If this is true for you, you will enjoy this player. Also, most of us, if not all, spend most time in listening music rather than transferring. SonicStage does what it is suppose to do, importing music from your CDs, computers and Online download via Connect, and exporting to your DAP. I really think this is good enough feature, unless one is in love with transferring music rather than actually listening to it. Also, note that SonicStage isn't the only software you can use with Walkmans; there are other software like BeatJam.
  4. I don't own NW-A800 series, but from my experience with NW-A1000, it has language mode for Traditional, Simplified Chinese and Japanese. Does NW-A800 series not have this? If it were the case, NW-A800 not supporting Chinese, then one way to get around is to use Japanese character that has been simplified from Chinese, e.g. 氣 to 気. This is just one example of many, but I hope it helps.
  5. Umm, I am confused about your question. Is your SonicStage not displaying English title or is it Japanese title? Also, like Shinji asked, are you using Japanese Windows and Japanese SonicStage? I am using Japanese Windows and Japanese SonicStage and have no problem with songs in Japanese and English. It is very odd that you can play English titles but not all the songs in Japanese titles? (did I get this right?)
  6. Hi, Shinji: I am just using biggest jackets I can get, so that, maybe, in future when Sony releases devices that support larger image, I won't have to find bigger picture. I tend to use jacket art found by SonicStage (if it finds one, that is), but SonicStage can't find jackets for the CDs I own. In this case, I just go to artist official websites to find jackets. Anyways, most of my jackets are 500x500 pixels.
  7. Simply deleting Playlist does not delete songs from the player. Think of playlist as a sort of bookmark. Deleting bookmark does not delete websites, right? In order to delete songs, view album/songs via SonicStage and delete songs from there. This will delete songs from your player.
  8. If you wish to transfer playlists, you have to transfer songs from playlist from the SonicStage to players. Simply transferring songs that are in playlist but not tranferring from the playlist does not create playlist on the player. link one of the member, theFanboy, wrote simple instructions for the playlist "in sonicstage, in the mylibrary box, on the right side you see a small box to select called create/edit playlist. Select that. list of current playlist section will open on the right side. now on left side (my library column), select all the songs you want and click the blue arrow, all selected song list will appear on right side, choose an appropriate name for the current list and select close edit. now on the left most column, select view as albums/playlist. my library will show all the playlist. select appropriate ones, transfer to your device (by theFanboy)." so basically, 1) click "Create/edit playlist" on the right side. 2) Choose songs for the playlist and transfer. Once you created playlist, close the playlist 3) on the left most column, select view as "albums/playlist" 4) from the "playlist," transfer to your device This post has been edited by Zizone: Apr 20 2007, 09:30 PM
  9. I also agree about the heading. Let's keep the forum clean.
  10. I just buy CDs and never have to deal with DRM and low kbps music files...
  11. I am also going to travel to NYC for a concert (DIR EN GREY). From what I hear, Sony USA still has not released NW-A800 series.
  12. Ahh, Sony's S series screws.
  13. I don't have an answer to this problem, but to prevent this issue being a problem in future, simply uncheck copy protection box when you are importing songs from CDs via SonicStage onto your computer.
  14. No problem. Personally, I use ATRAC Lossless for my favorite songs and ATRAC3plus 352kbps for other songs. Oh, ok thanks for the info
  15. I believe files above 132kbps are ATRAC3plus (where as files with 132kbps and below are ATRAC3). The regular ATRAC was used in old MD players later replaced by ATRAC3 with 132kbps. If you want to listen ATRAC Lossless on your NW-S705, set the transfer setting to "transfer as is." Then the songs (in ATRAC Lossless in your computer) will be transferred to NW-S705 as ATRAC Lossless; when you view that song property, the player will show ATRAC Lossless.
  16. Thanks for the reply. I will check out those as you advised.
  17. Well, things happened before I even deleted anything. Yes, I really installed IE7 which was downloaded from Microsoft.
  18. I am using BCR-NWU3 with NW-S706F, and when I place NW-S706F it is a perfect fit. So I don't think the player will fit with the silicon sleeve. The second picture shows the player with silicon sleeve, but the cradle without the inner smaller part of cradle that is supplied with the NW-S700 or NW-A800 series. Cool thing is that this cradle can be used for both NW-S700 and NW-A800 series.
  19. By any chance you speak Japanese? Because there is a software out there called "Beat Jam". I haven't tried the software with NW-A800 series but it works perfectly with NW-S700 series and it is suppose to work with Walkmans and other DAPs. So, if you do understand Japanese, this program is an option.
  20. Oh, sorry about uninstalling part... I just deleted internet explorer so when I tried to open, internet explorer won't open. Then I installed the lasted internet explorer. But the problem still persists. Anyways, my windows and internet explorer is up to date (and all others things like video drives and etc.) and I also checked for the virus. So, I really don't know why it isn't working.
  21. Well, other reason why many people love iPods is because that's all they know. There are many who still thinks Walkman is only for cassette players, those who knows no other DAPs from Toshiba, Creative and etc. Also, SonicStage seems to have more problems because people post more problems than the experience with no problems; in other words, people are more likely to post problems than their good experience. But, I agree that iTune is better in terms of functionality compared to SonicStage. I believe most of us spend more time in listening music than transferring... DAP being music player as it is named, SQ should be placed as highest priority, at least for me. Playing flat in both Walkman and iPods is meant to play songs as artist intended, but clear stereo will make it better, considering there is some leak that can be prevented. EQ and clear bass comes into importance when you are listening in public where bass is harder to pick up than high frequency sounds. In this instance, modifying bass would give closer sound to what artist intended. It all depends where and what kind of environment one listens to music and how you adjust EQ and Clear bass accordingly from flat to custom settings. Lastly, isn't this post about NW-A800 series and iPod Nano? Please correct me if I am wrong, but as far as I know both players support up to 8GB so I don't see why having small or large music library should be a factor. Having same capacity, NW-A800 series with video playback capability, nice headphones and most importantly better SQ, I think NW-A800 series is better choice than iPod Nano.
  22. Hi, I am looking for good Speaker System for my computer. But, my knowledge is somewhat shallow in computer speaker system. Do you guys recommend any particular system? I was looking at this. Thanks in advance.
  23. Yeah, I am thinking about purchasing one... Anyways thanks for the tip.
  24. I would have complained to the store manager ; Apple isn't the only one making white headphones... but I refuse to wear white headphones Anyways, congratulations on your purchase.
  25. Sony has great designs, designers and engineers. Thanks for the pictures.
