Createing folders and creating playlist are actually same thing but with different names. try this link. playlist One can say the playlist replaced folder (or "group," the term used by earlier SonicStage). In order to create playlist, which functions much like a "folder," (or "group") click a playlist box located in upper right corner from your SonicStage 4.3 (right next to the bar indicating amount of memory left in your computer). Once you click, you will have two sections, much like having list of songs in your computer on the left hand side and songs in your Walkman on the right hand side; only difference now is that right hand side is a playlist while the left hand side remains the same, songs in your computer. Now, you many move songs from your left hand song list into the right hand side, the playlist. Here, you many create folder and move songs with unrelated artists into that folder in any way as you please, including any song order. After you are done creating your playlist (or folder), close the right hand side list (the playlist) by clicking the box, which you clicked to open the right hand list (one that is next to the bar indicating amount of memory left in your computer). Now, you probably want to transfer this particular playlist (folder) to your Walkman. To do this, click a box found in your far left hand side saying displaying mode, e.g. Album/songs, into Playlist. After this step, you will see the playlists (folders) you created previously. Then simply transfer this playlist into your Walkman like you would normally do. Now, you have songs in a way you wish. To view the playlist in your NW-S706, click Playlist by accessing menu from your Walkman. By pulling Jog Shuttle out, you will be seeing folders and by pulling Jog Shuttle in, you will be seeing songs within that particular folder.

Hardware can support most languages, it is the software which is a problem. If you use Connect Player, which seems to be unicode, then you will have no problem in displaying, e.g., Kanji. But then the CP is pretty buggy.

NW-S706F supports AAC, WMA, Linear PCM, MP3 and ATRAC playback natively. In other words, NO transcoding or converting is required.
-
Hmm... that's so odd, because I bought my NW-S706F on release date, something like October 2006, and I don't have any issue with my OLED. Did your OLED happen to have a direct contact with any liquid?
-
I was just agreeing with your previous reply. I made a mistake. I meant "doesn't" but accidently wrote "does." Sorry. I editted it now though.
-
Yeah, the image size doesn't matter. SonicStage and the player will adjust image for proper viewing.

According to Sony Japan, it is LCD. If there is one Sony site that is most accurate, it is Sony Japan. Also, by looking at picture, one can say it is LCD since the display shows backlight which is not present in OLED.

PS3 is 1000USD? or some other currency was it?

You probably don't know the difference between active and non-active (passive) noise canceling. The latter effect can be found in most headphones which relies on how well the headphones seal your ear canals thus increasing proficiency of preventing noise from entering your ear. In addition to the non-active noise (or passive), the former is where the headphones samples ambient noise and produces the sound wave that is off phase from the ambient noise, thus canceling the sound. MDR-EX90 neither has microphones to detect nor hardware to sample the noise; as a result, no Active noise canceling. However, it can't be said that the headphone does not provide passive noise canceling, since most headphones do decrease your hearing ability by blocking access to the ear canals. MDR-EX90, however, does provide very good sound quality with large frequency range compared to any other headphones (ear canals ones).

Those old cassette Walkman may look bad by today's standard, but I bet those were some good designs in the past.

I still remember my first MD player I got when I was in middle school. If there is one last Hi-MD player going to be out, I will gladly buy it also.
-
I also agree.

NW-S700/600 series. The side view of this player is just beautiful. The second is NW-HD1.

Wow... I didn't know you can play with corporate PC for personal use... From where I came from, people would get fired. In fact, no people can leave their work until their boss leaves, even after their work hours are over... I guess work ethics differ from region to region.

One can say the playlist replaced folder (or "group," the term used by earlier SonicStage). So, I think you are trying to put songs with different artist in one folder instead of having songs categorized by artists thus having multiple folders. To view the playlist in your NW-S705, click Playlist by accessing menu from your Walkman. By pulling Job Shuttle out, you will be seeing folders and by pulling Jog Shuttle in, you will be seeing songs within that particular folder. If you have any further question, let me know.

sort of off topic but... I really like D-NE830's remote. Also, the D-NE830 is very beautiful.

Well, not many users were using Connect service anyways. That means that the users were using SonicStage for other reasons, so I don't think the SonicStage is pointless. Though I find replacement for this software for much better one is critical. Anyways, I still think some kind of download service from Sony is still needed to bring new buyers maybe. It is nice to have some sort of download service.

ATRAC Lossless playback is supported by the following models (as of 2007/6/16): NW-S600/700 series NW-A800 series

If the leader makes that kind of statement then how can the company strive? He may be happy with his own salary but surely he is not doing what he is paid to do. This is one of the reason why Sony USA lags behind by far compared to any other Sony divisions. Sony USA is just dead weight on all other divisions. Apparently, the president is not doing good job. How come the execs in US do not step down if they are not doing good?!? Because, I see much more responsible execs in Japan where they take full responsibility for their work. Once again, those Sony USA execs should step down.
-
That's what they are trying to do according to the above link.
-
Personally, I don't see a reason to drop ATRAC. Just supporting all kinds of formats available seems more plausible to me. Anyways, replacement with new and "good" software seems important. Also, tying all Sony products is a very nice thing, but they need to tie their software as well as hardwares. I hope they will do this like some of Sony's CEOs have been trying for awhile. Also, can we have Unicode software...?...
-
I don't think it's should be drag-drop OR some software. But it should be, drag-drop AND some software; considering there are users who prefer drag-drop and those who prefer software. I believe SonicStage will be replaced with the new software, because of general publics' views, whether they are biased or not.

In fact, the Jog Shuttle is what brought me into Sony flash players when I got my first flash player, Sony NW-E407 (until then I was using MDs). The Jog Shuffle is really simple to use and very convenient. I hope Sony will continue to make flash players with shape like NW-E and NW-S700 series with the Jog Shuffles. Oh, and please reduce hiss in players. Sony's MZ-RH1 is a very good example of no hiss and great sound quality. I am getting off topic but... My small wish.
-
Hey DSP, did you find out SNR for NW-A800 and NW-S700 series (just curious)? MZ-RH1 seems to beat any DAPs in this department.

Thanks for the info guys.
