  1. I think best way for the Sony is to provide a software for Walkman in addition to drag-and-drop.
  2. It seems like the reason why you are getting so many list of same album is because songs in that album belong to different artists. One way of fixing this issue will be to have all the songs in that album "2001" to the same artist.

Well, I still think there should be an options to allow people to use both Software and drag-and-drop. Everyone has there preference. Thus allowing all the options to people is the best way to go; this should be the case for the formats. Providing all the formats and all the ways of transferring songs to Walkman should suffice everyone's need.

Look at the Jog Shuttle closely, there are arrows indicating folder (outward) and the opposite direction is the songs in that folder. So pulling the Jog Shuttle outward will access the folder and other direction will access songs in that folder. Please try this link, it shows you the Jog Shuttle usage. link Then click "OPEN" on the web page (the Adobe Flash Player). Then there will be a new window just for NW-S700 series. Click "Design". On the bottom of that window, click "Design" and then "Jog Shuttle". Once you are in the page, you will see how Jog Shuttle moves.
  5. As far as I know, all the productions of Walkman have been moved out from Japan to foreign counties.
  6. Well, I am in early 20s... but I had a chance to use cassette Walkman; I was pretty good at fast forwarding or rewinding to find right song. This is something people won't have to deal with to find a song... Now days, simply click a button and there is the song playing.
  7. I also agree; getting Japanese Windows will fix all the problems. But I must mention that the Mora (Japanese online music download service for SonicStage) will not allow people to download songs outside of Japan. I still don't understand what is so hard to support other languages... Connect Player did fine job in this matter... PLAYSTATION3 supports most languages without any problems.
  8. Simply set transferring mode/setting to "transfer as is". This will transfer MP3 as MP3, AAC as AAC and ATRAC as ATRAC, etc; thus no transcoding.

Because you have setting to convert files in certain format, which can be changed to keep and transfer file as is. By clicking a box between tow windows or sections when you are transferring songs (left side being songs in computer and right side being songs in your Walkman), in between two windows there is a tool box key that you can click, which allows you to change transferring mode/setting. You can view file property my using right click and hit property. Once you connect Walkman, via SonicStage you can view your files in Walkman which allows you to view files, type of files and others things as well.

    URGENT HELP NEEDED!

All you had to do was to perform simple search about Playlist at ATRAClife. Anyways, I am copy/pasting previous comment: One can say the playlist replaced folder (or "group," the term used by earlier SonicStage). In order to create playlist, which functions much like a "folder," (or "group") click a playlist box located in upper right corner from your SonicStage 4.3 (right next to the bar indicating amount of memory left in your computer). Once you click, you will have two sections, much like having list of songs in your computer on the left hand side and songs in your Walkman on the right hand side; only difference now is that right hand side is a playlist while the left hand side remains the same, songs in your computer. Now, you may move songs from your left hand song list into the right hand side, the playlist. Here, you many create folder and move songs with unrelated artists into that folder in any way as you please, including any song order. After you are done creating your playlist (or folder), close the right hand side list (the playlist) by clicking the box, which you clicked to open the right hand list (one that is next to the bar indicating amount of memory left in your computer). Now, you probably want to transfer this particular playlist (folder) to your Walkman. To do this, click a box found in your far left hand side saying displaying mode, e.g. Album/songs, into Playlist. After this step, you will see the playlists (folders) you created previously. Then simply transfer this playlist into your Walkman like you would normally do. Now, you have songs in a way you wish. To view the playlist in your NW-S706, click Playlist by accessing menu from your Walkman. By pulling Jog Shuttle out, you will be seeing folders and by pulling Jog Shuttle in, you will be seeing songs within that particular folder. try this link. playlist

Well, I think NW-E00X series was replaced by NW-E0X0 series. This NWD-B100 has it's own territory and thus I don't think this is replacing NW-E00X series.
  12. I thought Sony's decision to have BCR-NWU3 support both NW-S700/600 and NW-A800 was a pleasant surprise. I hope BCR-NWU3 will continue to be compatible with future Walkmans, since the cradle isn't really cheap. But I miss the cool light that BCR-NWU1 (I hope the name is correct, the one supported NW-A1000 series) had. Since the introduction of Ipods, Sony stopped supplying cradle with Walkman out of the box to keep the price low... sigh... sort of missing good old MD days. Oh, and what's up with not supplying Walkman trademark soft bag?!? I can't even buy one now days... only leather ones. I believe the last model to supply soft bag was NW-E400 series, which I am still using for my NW-S706F.
  13. I don't think Walkmans are made in Japan anymore. All of my recent Walkmans purchased in Japan are made somewhere else, like Malaysia or China. My recent laptop, VAIO TX series is made in Japan though. It seems like Sony is trying to lower down the price by shifting production of products from Japan to other countries, much like PSP and PS3. Personally, I'd rather have products made in Japan and pay extra money... But that's just me. Seeing workers getting fired in Japan, "a company for life" no longer applies.
  14. My recommendations to everyone who loves music and thus also Walkman is to keep volume low for your hearings...
  15. Both Japanese and English versions are available at JP Sony and Sony global sites, respectively.
  16. Tales of the world. I am eagerly waiting for the FF-VII: Crisis Core for PSP.
  17. From a perspective of a person who buys CDs and import via SonicStage, which is the case for me, I haven't faced any problems. It is probably the lack of flexibility compared to other softwares is the source of complaints.

Like someone previously asked, you have to set your transferring mode/setting as "transfer as is." Having set mode "as is," MP3 will transfer to as MP3, AAC as AAC, WMA as WMA, and ATRAC Lossless as ATRAC Lossless. I own this player, and I tried all formats and they all played their native format without transcoding.
  19. Well, there is new CD walkman: D-NE20 and D-NE830. Also, sound quality may be subjective, but those who have used various DAPs tend to prefer Sony's SQ; this fact cannot be ignored considering this is one factor that holds current user base.
  20. It is so odd that some people faces problems while others don't face any problems. I happen to be the latter person, whch I consider myself lucky. I am using Vista Business and SonicStage 4.3 and haven't encountered any problems. I wonder what causes these inconsistency between people. There is one software that I know, which supports Walkman with reasonable functions. It is called BeatJam 2007. The software works pretty well, but it isn't free.
  21. 1) Yes, you can. It is called Playlist, which functions much like folders. 2) You simply need to uncheck box from scanning computers for audio files. 3) Lastly, watch your language. Simply writing with poor temper control isn't going to change anything; most likely, it will draw readers away from your comments.
