MiniDisc Head cleaning discs?
raintheory replied to raintheory's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
Thanks eriktous, I have no idea how I missed that one when I was searching. -
I've seen MiniDisc head cleaning discs for sale on eBay and various other places, and I've been wondering if they would be worth trying out. A couple of my MD recorders over time have had issues with dust/lint/etc getting inside and messing with playback... On the other hand I have had some pretty nasty results in the past using CD head cleaning discs, so I am wondering if it would be worth the risk... Has anyone tried any of these cleaning discs that can offer some advice?

Currently using Toshiba Satellite laptop w/ P4 HT, 512mb ram running WinXP... We also have a Mac G5 with OSX Tiger that we use for all creative purposes (except minidisc & live gigs when I use the Toshiba laptop). The funny thing I've always noticed about Mac (OSX in particular) is that if you can't figure something out, it's because it's way too easy. I remember the Amiga days, DOS, and all that (a friend of mine still uses his Amiga pretty often, though he is running out of double density 3.5 floppies )... Still have my Apple IIC in the basement myself.. lol. Oregon Trail anyone?

Your MAC will see the RH10 as an external drive, so just copy the uploaded WAV files on your PC to the RH10 using explorer. No need for any other USB drive. We've done that many times to get files over to our G5.

Just curious: what is your "MiniDisc conversion" story?

Since '93 for me. Got one of the first MZ-1's. Still works great too, not too great for jogging unless you like carrying weights. -
In regards to your initial question, I just tested and the TASCAM MD350 speed control will not work on LP2 recordings.
-
Yes, but I beleive you have to start the recording in rec-pause and set recording level to manual, then you can adjust as it is recording.

Sony MDS-E10 Pro... Tascam MD-350... Great pro decks with optical/coaxial outputs & MDLP... Check links in signature... Grabbed both of my decks on eBay.

I'm on same page as ynos... I use mine every day, more than I use any other media, including CD. So I get plenty of use.

KrazyIvan's MZ-NH600D Pictorial
raintheory replied to KrazyIvan's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
I got one of these units a little while ago mainly to keep the wear and tear down on my recording units. Great to have as a backup unit for car/work/etc. -
Just upgraded to v0.52, and all I can say is that you are fantastic MarC... I donated awhile back when you first started working on this program, so I have seen it come a long way. I will definitely be donating again! Great Job!!

For those interested, here is a comparison photo of my MZ-1 -vs- MZ-RH10 (I couldn't find a brick for comparison ). [attachmentid=1082]
-
As KJ points out, the batteries differ... NH1 - Li Ion, no external AA RH10 - NiMH, & optional external AA
-
I have made a few discs in NetMD mode using my RH10 that were playable on older LP decks. On the transfer screen in SonicStage there is a drop-down box where you can choose HiMD or NetMD. I don't think you need to use a NetMD recorder to make the discs.
-
As for recording purposes... You can upload your live recordings to your PC with HiMD players (digitally). NetMD players you would have to record via analogue in realtime through your soundcard.

Post a couple pics of the USB connectors if you want. I don't think you are being difficult, I certainyl understand wanting to get it up and running. You still didn't say where you are located though Edit: Got your PM..
-
The USB cable from the NE410 should work fine with the N10. Where are you located? I have a few stock remotes, headphones, and other odds and ends for NetMD recorders that I may be willing to let go of. Let me know if you want me to PM you the info for what I have and some pics.
-
The Mic (plug in power) is simply a microphone input. You can use any headphones... The special connector thingy is for optional remotes. Do you have the USB cable to connect your NetMD to the computer?

I'll get some pics up in the gallery in a day or two for you AMP. In the meantime, heres a pic of my MZ-1 and MZ-RH10 together... [attachmentid=1034]
