Van den Hul Optocoupler MKII as a new optical cable or not?
bobt replied to Selco's topic in Technical, Tips, and Tricks
On LP4 you won't notice a thing, you might as well be recording analog, to do these cables justice you would have to record something very demanding at SP, or PCM on Hi-MD. HTH Bob -
Don't you just hate it when that happens?? Take care, Bob

may be best to try the atrac colloquim forum, more non-md stuff there. What version of Sonic Stage are you using, if you are using what came with the unit, try going up to at least 3.4 if not 4.3. Are you having any other memory problems(on your puter!!!), what os are you uning? with SP2 I'm thinking some variant of XP, they are usually pretty stable with SS Good luck, Bob You can also scroll to the top of this page, there is a lot of info there Bob

Listening to Alright,Still by Lily Allen, filled the remainder of the disc with a few songs from In Search of Space by Hawkwind. Any disc with Silver Machine on it has to be a good one!!! Bob

I agree as well, if the units were 20 % bigger there would be room for normal sized fingers to operate the controls, and room for operation commands to be used on the unit. As to the squibbles of using the 40elk remote with the unit, until you've used the combination, you don't know how good it is. And I love having people think the remote is the device. Bob

Hi Ray welcome back, I personally function best at the pandemonium method of doing things, neat and orderly are an alien concept. Can you post a picture of your setup, I'd love to see it. Glad your vista system is coming along Take care, Bob

There are lots of suggestions in the mic section of the forum, as well as suggestions on a battery box for serious recording. Welcome to the MD world Bob

Most suitable portable MD for vocal recording/podcasting
bobt replied to michaelmcg's topic in Minidisc
and the RH1 just looks so cool, and if build quality is anything like the NH1, it just feels so right. Bob Ans of course, it uses the "source" Luke!!! -
try initializing or formatting and see what happens Bob

What a deal, with what you have already you could wet up a pretty decent recording studio, possibilities, possibilities Bob

Looks sharp, but in ten years it will be in the useless pile while a mixer with mechanical sliders will still be going strong. sure looks nice though, Bob

Most suitable portable MD for vocal recording/podcasting
bobt replied to michaelmcg's topic in Minidisc
With the NH700 your files are uploaded into sonicstage, which is why you need the newest version possible. Audacity is best for reatime recordings, but with Hi-MD you can let SS do all the work. If your company is doing the buying, go the little extra and get the RH1, that way if you happen to have any old MD's you can upload them, plus it is the best. Bob -
I'm in the same boat with my S.U., but have still increased my collection, hopefully by year end I'll have my RH1, still enjoy surprising people with the sound of my NH1 Btw, congrats, I know you'll love it Bob
