Just got back fom Vegas with a new HP Pavillion A1337c puter, old one died the day before we left. with an extra gig'o'memory came to about $450.00 USD, my last IBM on the island was $1700 CI about 2000 US, of course the HP was just the puter, keyboard and mouse, no monitor or speakers, got lots of those. Came with Vista home premium, POS wouldn't even fire up first time I set it up, came to a dialogue box saying because of incorrect shutdown during initialization would have to resume installation. Had to reformat it, almost burned it. What a POS Vista is, will try it for a while. TTFN Bob BTW, no MD in lost wages

Happy Birthday diselducy, haven't seen you for a while, hope you still visit us TTFN Bob

Unfortunately it was attached to my first NH1 when it happened, disc still works, I have a beautiful paperweight now,but two more that I am way more careful with. As to opening it up, I'm a mechanic I have to know how it works, when I was a kid clocks were never safe. Bob

Big one to percussive have a good one Bob

The media is probably more e-friendly because if you fail a recording you don't have to throw it out, and as I said in a previous post, MD's just seem to last longer JMHO Bob

just finished a whole bunch of videos from KLF/JAMS/Timelords, what great stuff, A White Room is definately in my top ten Bob

just wired the money to steeleuk for the connect2 adapter for my car MD unit, hopefully it will be waiting 4 me when I get back fron=m Vegas next week. Thanks wiz and bighmw for getting in contact with the gentleman. TTFN

my thoughts, they will record until they won't. There can't be a single number that you say after this watch out, too many variables. U have several thousand albums from the fifties to the nineties, all still play last I heard. I have several hundred cd's, probably 1/3 of them are faded to unusability from the high humidity and salt environment. Same goes for cd-rom, unless they are handled with felt gloves, they scratch themselves into oblivion. In about seven years I haven't lost a minidisc due to dropping, soaking it in the ocean, listening to it on the beach, opening it to see how it works, not one lost. I think that translates to reliability. Bob

Don't know if the man exists, doesn't answer e-mails and questions, must be a figment of my imagination. When he e-mails and sends me the adapter I'll update. Bob

QUOTE(bobt @ Aug 2 2007, 12:26 PM) * as any one here knows, my answer is MD all the way, like the look and feel of the discs, love the sound, and as raintheory states, it's easy to trade music. Plus if you lose one disc, only a bit is gone, if you lose your ipod its all gone, ( I know lots of cases where that has happened) Sure they are different strokes , but I like MD strokes. Bob You only lose music on an iPod if you've done something silly like delete it off the computer that it came from. With all computers you should have a regular backup. Even SonicStage has that option. I know of at least three people on the island here (population about 150) who went to use there precious toy and nothing, no record of anything ever being on it, dead to the world, all their music was on a computer thousands of miles away, good product if you ask me. Bob

As far as I know, the only new units are the RH1, which a few people still have, see post of the seller in Mexico, or the M200, which is relatively speaking, available. You can also try ebay of you are in an ebay friendly zone. Bob

What!, you can't talk on your cell phone, eat a burger, change MD's and wave at people at the same time!!!! Just kidding, maybe the answer is a minidisc changer to a minidisc deck, luxury, Bob

Sorry to hear about your back, can be a bummer.. Have you tried a back brace, sort of two pads that go across your ribs, and tied across yourself, helps the support? Take care of yourself Bob
