Hi all, with this summer storm bearing down on me I don't know if I'll be losing service or anything else, should hit here about 8:00 Monday morning. Luckily it's a fast moving storm, so we should only have 5 or 6 hours of wind. Latest prediction is the eye will miss us by about 70 miles. I'll try to take a few pictures. TTFN Bob

Yeah! success, ended up one of my sim cards wasn't fully seated from the factory, why it chose to manifest itself usually on SS install I have no Idea. Noticed yesterday that puter froze after sitting about 1/2 hour , black screen of death, memtest problem again took side off, checked memory, that's when I found the one module clip not fully engaged, took them all out and made sure that they clicked into place. Strangely enough the puter passed the memory test. No to move on, has anyone found a way to make simple burner behave, going to try the compatability rout. Thanks again 4 all your help Bob

If apple would come out with a slot loading player/recorder that accepted a 3 1/2 CM enclosed disc with up to 1 gig capacity, and had decent battery life, I might consider it Bob

I'm slightly miffed at untruth in ebay listings. A couple of months ago there was a listing for 4 Frank Zappa minidiscs with pictures of the discs. Looked legit, had a friend of mine in the states put in a bid for me, was successful, brought them down yesterday, looked neat, but on looking at them, yes they were mini discs, not MD though, they were the 3" CD singles, sound and look good, but not what I thought I was buying. Around the same time there was a post for 48 recorded MD's, got that too, all my friend got was the address portion of the wrapper, nothing else. He in in contact with the seller for replacement or money back. Damn !!! Bob

slight veer off on topic, has anyone tried SS 3.4 or 4.0 in Vista, tried again this morning with 4.4, was super careful about no programs running, careful on reboot, let Vista take it's time, didn't touch anything, after 1/2 to 3/4 hour, black screen of death, said it lost memtest.exe, third reformat in three days, damn I'm getting good at it, would prefer not to have to do that. for playback on my NH 600 battery lasts over 30 hours (not continuous) will last pretty well all week playing music at work. Sounds good to me for playback life Bob

Told me that I lost ini.exe, would not fix itself on the HP repair box, had one quick BSOD but I couldn't see what it said. Also had one dialog box saying could be a hardware issue and to unplug any recently installed hardware, unplugged the printer, nothing happened. Luckily it's a new system with little installed, so a reinstall wasn't too painful, but two in two days, not impressed Thanks, Bob

I'm going to try it 4 a while, so far the ONLY thing I like about it is it's trying to look like LINUX, supposed to be a Mac influence in there somewheres, but it sure doesn't behave like those two. I tried to get an XP machine when I was in Vegas, but they don't seem to exist/ Glad to hear about your back, no more body surfing for you this week!! Take care, Bob

Any one else have a problem with 4.3 into Vista, brand new machine, installed 4.3 this afternoon, finished and asked for a reboot, no go, had to do my second reformat in two days, learning to dislike this OS Bob
