  1. this thread is to question whether it is worth it to spend the extra 50 bucks and get a digital amp on the 900, yet sacrificing the am/fm/weather/tv radio from the 800. to me, i would definetly go for the 800 because of that radio. im assumin that the 700 will be about $225. so, im paying 75 dollars for the digital amp (plus a better remote, no matter to me), or i could pay just $25 dollars and instead get a radio. as i browse these forums, i notice that hardly anyone is getting the 800, and im starting to think "what is wrong with the 800?" is there some quality sacrifice? i currently own a 510, and im completely fine with the quality im getting from that. so, i guess the real question here is, is the quality between the 510 and 610 different? (since the 610 has a radio). (btw, in canada, the price difference between the 510 and 610 is outrageous, like 75 dollars, its stupid.) im beginning to think that the digital amp may not be worth the extra 50 dollars (from the 800), on top of sacrificing the radio (theoriticall $75). My two cents. Anyone have comments? all prices american EDIT: changed the n1's to 900's
  2. noooooo! well, now i can save up for the higher model. sneaky sony.
  3. omg nobody uses ie4 anymore! stop wasting space to support it! geez!
  4. but yoiu can't add trackmarks if the music (or speech, in this case) is downloaded from the computer via USB. you can only add trackmarks to stuff you have recorded via line-in or mic.
  5. well, i just got my MD back from futureshop... they didn't know what was wrong with it (whew) so they just replaced the chipset!!! its basically a new unit! (except for the motors). i am SOOO lucky!! kind of weird getting used to the original controls, since i used the messed up one for about a month
  6. ok, that diagram said it all. thx! so, by the looks of it, it could be placed in any player. excellent.
  7. hmm, then maybe perhaps its just for decor. or a grip
  8. hmm.. i know theres an option in openMG (perhaps sonicstage) that you could change the pitch of a sound during playback, but i never heard of it transfering over such a way. also, i know that if you play an LP@ or LP$ recording on a minidisc that doesn't recognize such formats is will sound like you described. perhaps your minidisc is defective.
  9. quick question: when they say "4 poles" do they mean that there will be 4 seperate paths for sound to reach the earphone (like 3 metal parts on the plug)? regular earphones have 2 paths, (ignoring the negative). do you guys know what i mean? its very hard to explain
  10. how is it with the sony md's? i'm considering getting these for my hi-md.

    Re Sony MZNH 900

that would lead to the same problem! lol "DARN i bought the E-Karl, thinking it was newer that the D-Karl! lol"
  12. check it out: if you look on the side of it, you'll see a dark strip, approximately the thickness of a MD. hmmm. perhaps you insert the disk like a floppy on this model. Could this be good or bad? Possible Pros: the entire inside (with motors and such) would never be exposed, always covered by a flap Possible Cons: Flap could break, external stuff (like coins in your pocket could get in, short-circuiting it WCS) or people might mistake it for a debit reader if there is a flap, they had BETTER have done something with the coins in pocket issue! i was seriously going to buy this, and this comes up! i might have to recede to the 800
  13. Short'n'Sweet. heres the link! this guide tell you what to look for when purchasing a minidisc. interesting to read, i must say  http://www.futureshop.ca/learnmore/BuyersG...=19&WLBS=fsweb8 I think this deserves to be stickied!
  14. I dont think so. Sony and another company are competing for (yet) another high quality cd format, holding more info at a higher bitrate... just great, im gonna have to buy the beatles albums all over again
  15. nope, you gotta either re-export them to hi-md or upload to the pc via analog, then export to hi-md. not very lenient, i know.
  16. ok i like your program and all, (nice girl on the install pic ) but all i can do is test a random track!
  17. how about the "Minidisc Vanilla" Forum? (btw, if youve looked at my post number, it being one, its more like at 50, b/c ive had problems with my username)
