  1. that would the coolest thing. if your camera fills up, just dump it onto your hi-md! perhaps that download button will serve that purpose!! (ya, right.)
  2. actually, i know VB, c++, Java, html and delphi. i know the benefits of each. VB: great beginners language (i taught myself basic on the commodore 64 ), but not expandable, and is limited to what you can do. C++: absolutely fantastic for games. by adding libraries of any type, C++ is infintely expandable (until microsoft introduces COP) delphi: is the ultimate business language. each version (enterprise) costs about 6000 dollars canadian (i think), and components such as flash, excel, word, or any type of compnent that is loaded in your computer cana be added to delphi. perfect for business apps. great compilier too! super fast and effiecient. java is similar to C++ syntax wise, and can be used on any OS (the machine code converter is at the CPU level, unlike most languages). its great for internet business apps. so, inconclusion: if your into games, C++ is the way to go (almost all of the games are made with c++) so, crazey, if your just beginning, and want to grasp some concepts of programming, VB is the way to go. but i strongly suggest your branch off soon after you get the hang of it. it gets more and more difficult to switch (just getting the hang of syntax. you gotta watch those capitals. it doesn't fix it for you.)
  3. just a super expensive MD player (NO hi-md) that looks good. view www.minidisc.org for more details, or the equipment browser.

    NetMD vs Hi-MD

an HD amp is a high definition amp inside the HI-MD player, to increase the fidelity of the sound. and no, theres no speakers. its all through the earphones.
  5. umm ya. i can recognize VB a mile away anywho, i bwlieve it was written that it was about 10mbps. yes i realize that 10mbps = 125kb/s, but i kept it simple for simplicity's sake. i guess i should have bolded and underlined my "about" words . end. (delphis better)
  6. oops ya. my bad. i guess it is my opinion that it is much faster. please disregard my previous post
  7. Someone recently posted that a SOny tech told him/her that you could export Hi-MD recorded material from sonicstage! (GOD i hope that IS TRUE)
  8. the reason its USB 1.1 is probably becuase: a) too much power to write any faster at this technology level (requires heat and magnetism to write) but if sony comes out with a Hi-MD disk drive for the PC, that wouldn't be a problem, now would it? P.S. USB2.0 is much faster than firewire
  9. actually, the answer is really foggy. Sony Tech said that you can export from sonicstage?!?!?!? if thats true, then, then, THEN, I WOULD SCREAM "COOOL!!!"
  10. checks duracell AGAIN.... says: aa/hr6/dc1500 nimh/1.2V,2050mAh yup, i play it until its dead (in my MD) then i just plug it in at night. its a great .. structured sequence (i forgot what that word is! OMG) they run at 5 bucks a bettery (in a pack of 4). ya, 20 bucks lasts about a year. now IS THAT SAVINGS OR WHAT! edit: thats canadian dollars edit: HOLY CRAP! that's 3 times in a row now! i feel lucky today or something! (looks down the street for some hot girls... theres none, then recedes back to the computer and finishes the sentence. )
  11. checks my duracell Nmh... cool, 2050 mah... i bought that battery like 4 months ago, and its still lasting 8 hours per charge (btw, i lisen to it like 4 hours a day )
  12. Hi-MD can write at about 10mbps, which would be about a meg a second. thats 1000 seconds... (fetches calculator)... 16 minutes. 20 seconds. thats without writing to the TOC for every file. next time, please post this in the sticky thread. but since you just arrived here, i'll let it slide (not that i have control over that or anything)... but... WELCOME TO MINIDISC.ORG!
  13. std md's use 177 mb. also yes, and you can reformat it to have 350mb
  14. you will have to convert each song into atrac3/plus, unfortunately. Realplayer deletes the files after use tho (its an option) for std md. but it may not be so for hi-md, as you would need an updated driver for it. edit: Welcome to minidisc.org!
  15. yes, they're extremely cheap, once you consider the lifetime of them compared to the lifetime of dry akalines... thats the make or break point for me. kind of like gas milage. that infulences what car i would buy.
  16. you should talk note: this post has been classified as spam. so, to prevent this post from not being deleted, i shall release some info. use norton utilities for the defrag. must nicer than the basic windows defrag. thank you.
  17. im not sure what hdd means... but im assuming its like an ipod or any hard rive music player. your dreaming. and so was i. im hoping in the future that clie's and hi-mds and cameras will be able to communicate to each other and transfer files.
  18. konrad: yes, you will have to convert the files in old school atrac3, so the 500 can recognize it. (you will have to record the md in std MD mode when recording from the Hi-MD) crazybt1: windows actually has two kind of formats when formatting.... quick and full. quick just zips right to the TOC and wipes it clean. Full format actually goes through the HD (or MD in this case) and sets it all to 0. (i think) all i REALLY know is that quick format is much quicker. and since it is recognized as a USB mass storage device, it can be subject to any formatting /defragmentation technique that any desktop program does (such as norton utilities and such) edit: wow! im at the top of the page AGAIN! ( i was at the top last time. its not as if its any accomplishment. just a coincidence )
  19. (edit: these are not quite answers, but more of altering your questions into facts. ) this really belongs in the question sticky... but i'll let that slide (not that i can, but anywho) 1. yes, all hi-md machines have usb. 2. rephrase that.... 3. the only difference between a downloader and a recorder is the mic/line in inputs. thats all. (except for the 600, which lacks the AC adapter input). you can also use the machine (im assuming the hi-md device) as a USB mass storage device, as well as downloading music from any of the 3 inputs (1 if its a downloader). last question: yup. if you won't need to do live recording, or have the urge to record stuff from your stereo (using line in), then i would suggest getting a downloader. but since the 600 has no AC adapter input, i believe that thing to be utterly useless, as i listen to my 510 3 hours a day, theni charge the battery back up at night. (saved me 100's of dollars by now, got it in 2001) . . . for those who noticed, the 510 didn't exist back then. back then i got a 505, but then it crapped out, and they replaced it with a 510
  20. im surprised that theres a spot for the remote! man, thats sad... "theres a spot for the remote! but, ... theres no spot for an AC adapter." geez man, 100 dollar cd players come with an AC adapter! im moving on up to the 700/800.
  21. im not buying the 600. i currently use the n510, and i use the recharger in it everyday. saved me about 100 dollars now to hear that theres no AC adapter plugin is so dumb to hear. a 300 dollar walkman, and no adapter. it like, "to play music, you must always constantly be buying batteries" I plug my minidisc in at work and play from that. im moving on up to the nh700 (if its available in canada, that is.
  22. none of the new minidiscs can transfer PCM from the computer.. they probably left this out because it may be taking too much juice for the unit to handle when writing at faster speeds.
  23. does the 600 come with a AC adapter? if so / not, can it charge batteries like the others?
  24. how is the sound quality compared to the n-510 (or any other std-minidisc without digital amp?
  25. nobody knows that yet. yes, you will be able to upload hi-MD recorded content, but it is not known if you can export the file as a wav or anything. my guess is that your wont be able to, because that would leave a (super small) leak for copyrighted content to be (very slowly) be distributed. edit: added the quote in so people wont flip between pages
