Classic videos!

FYI, the N1 had all sorts of issues with the recording head/ribbon connector, but the skipping is yet another problem. When you make a recording, do you get a BLANK DISC? If not, your N1 is still in tact. Are the recordings from a PC?

How much (in CDN dollars) for the blue NH3D?

Does this use English as its standard language or Japanese? I remember some models did use English, but most were not.....

I tried out two sets of EX90's, they sound great but the angled driver housing may be too uncomfortable for you, it was for me......SQ was better than that of the CX300's, but not much isolation.

There is a new Audio Cubes brick and mortar store located within the city, they should have those lithium cells.

TOC errors often mean the recording head/optical block is cooked. A cleaner might work, as John suggests, but often it's the end of the MDR.......

TBH, for what little value these now represent on the used market, keep the R50 and R700. If you ever get a larger set of phones, you can purchase an amp and it will work sterlingly with your R50's dedicated line out. The R700 offers MDLP but not much else over the older R50.

I assume you are using an NH-14WM cell. Many of these are actually fakes, the market is flooded with them. I once bought four of them from one of those fly-by-night discount etailers, they didn't last more than a few months before they could not even be charged. My suggestion is for you to try a reputable dealer that would be selling genuine Sony gumsticks, such as Audio Cubes and MiniDisco. Many say the GB-branded gums are good, too.

Is it silver or gold? The tungsten light throws off the AWB which did a poor job.......

Nah, I don't even own an iPod, I sold my 5.5G model due to inept sound quality and skipping. If I was into such things as watching dirty videos and viewing Web images, I wouldn't store these files on a DAP. However, I can see why many people would.

Ha! We always associate Veronica Zemanova with being the porn queen of the Web. I suppose many iPod owners have her images/videos always on hand........No surprise. I do think this thread will be gone before the day is done.

It does sound like your NH1 is in need of a costly fix, the answer is yes.........How old is it?
-
keytones said he has tried different discs. It seems the unit's OWH head is cooked. Have you tried to record live stuff, does it still do the same thing, or have you always just used the NH1 with a PC?
-
Alastor, getting 5 years from an MD unit is beyond what many people will achieve. Hopefully, it's just a software problem.
-
You have more or less answered your own question. Sadly, there are no plans for MiniDisc after the M200 is gone.......
-
The lithium cell for the NH1/RH1 is more expensive, but far superior to the NH-14WM gumstick cell that has somewhat poor performance, IMHO. I am still using my LIP-4WM on the NH1 that I got two years ago, works sterlingly. I find the NH-14WM gets about a year, tops, before it starts to go downhill.

As always, pics will help you sell your MD unit.

What version of SS do you have and what is your OS?
-
Are you still trying to sell this MDR? It seems you can sell the blanks, separately, and I'd like the recorder.

SOLD: Sony MZ-NHF800 Hi-MD Walkman- $95.00 USD, with bonus accessories
Superbaldguy replied to BIGHMW's topic in Classifieds
Can the MD unit drive those phones decently loud? I admire your persistence in selling all of this MiniDisc gear. -
The MDR-G74SL's are quite good, don't know if you can still get them. I use mine for workouts, sound great. It seems that there is no great desires on makers to create "audiophile" street-styles as the demographics these cans serve do not usually put sound quality high on their list.

Yeah, this is a very obscure thread without any more info - any EH1's in your flock?

Seeking retailer who can ship TDK MD's to Australia
Superbaldguy replied to Artstar's topic in Minidisc
It's sad to see MiniDisco still using UPS as their only way to ship products, it has hurt their import sales. -
That's insane but it goes to show you two things: (1) Some eBay bidders are morons (2) The interest in the format (especially high-end decks) is still solild
