No official announcement has ever come from Sony, but it looks like the M200 is the last kick at the can. MiniDisc Canada still has the RH1.

It seems there are people over at the Audio T-Board that own or have owned that model, good luck trying to find one.

FWIW, I regulary use my MD units with the NH-14WM, performance is still mediocre. I have great luck with the lithium ion cell in the NH1, though.

I have bought cheap (i.e Chinese-made) NH-14WM's, they don't work well for long. I find the gumstick cells to be very disappointing, in general, nowhere near the 300 charge cycles Sony claimed, even on the "good" ones I have owned.

It appears the overwrite head is history, the unit is not repairable at an economical price.

Are all your recordings via a microphone? Did you see a BLANK DISC error after you were finished?

Sorry, no new Sony MD unit. Ray, I don't see why you couldn't be part of the party as everyone seems to love you.

I had an iPod for a few months, the sound is very uninvolving. It's not terrible, just boring. I noticed some clipping distortion with the bass boost. The iPod works well with an amp paired to its line out, kind of defeats the purpose of portability. After my brief love affair was over with Apple's star child, I found a sweet Sony NW-HD5 through bland1000 and that DAP has SQ which rivals MD. I wonder how many people will ever experience high-quality audio with a portable. The rising generation will never be familiar with good sound.

Ray, it's one of those Sony Network Walkmans, they look like a Bic lighter. These small flash mp3 players are very popular and cheap.

Ah, this is a big secret and it will be great for MD fans. I am getting worried about the Board, it's not usual to be without it for this long, how much longer can we hold out?

There had been a silver DS8 over at the T-Board, but he was/is slow to respond. I found a mint black DS77, so I am happy.
