I am guessing Sony learned from the N1 follies about making the ribbon connector more robust; you don't hear much about that happening with later units.
-
Does it resemble this model? http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sony_MDX-C5400X.html I didn't see that model number in the Browser. The one I linked to does not support MDLP (just prior to its introduction) no your LP2/LP4 discs would show am being blank despite the fact they can be played. There is no true SP mode in Sonic Stage meaning the deck cannot play any of your current discs - do you have a legacy SP mode on any recorder? The fact the deck spits out a disc may mean there is something broken in the loading mechanism, as well. Good luck.

Interesting - the iPod can record if you get the right accessory, but it doesn't have a default record mode. Funny that Apple doesn't seem to promote that function, seems useful for note-taking. Anyway, I share your gripes about not being able to buy a MiniDisc unit except via on-line. In due time, unless Sony keeps the production going on the RH1, this will all come to an end, sadly.
-
If by "recording" you mean the iPod integrates with a jukebox program, yes they all do. MDR's are true recording devices since they can pick up signals from anywhere, no USB cable required. (assuming the unit has a mic input)
-
There have always been MiniDisc recorders and MiniDisc players and they have co-existed very well. Not sure what your gripe is, iPods don't record..........
-
Is this the RH910 or the RH10? It looks like the latter in the pics. $200 is a bit high for the RH910.
-
In the future, to make your life easier, record in the SP mode on the Aiwa and you can play the discs on your R90 without any fuss.
-
Meaning the RH1 is the style of MiniDisc device Sony is trying to market; time will tell if this is the last of its kind, let's hope there is a successor or at least the RH1 continues to be made for awhile.

Nice classic unit - you should have adjusted your WB on the photos, they came out with that yellowish cast.
-
Just what we need - more cheap and fake gumsticks. I have been lured into buying such cells in the past, they are poor performers. Good luck.
-
These have been SOLD. Second-hand buds seem to generate little interest.
-
Í have a set of EX90LP's that are a week old - I cannot get a good fit with these buds. The sound quality is excellent but the discomfort doesn't allow me to enjoy the music. Asking price is $75 CDN shipped within Canada, or $65 USD shipped to the States. Please get back to me via email if interested - rosmith@ns.sympatico.ca NEW LOWER PRICE - $60 CDN, shipped in Canada, $50 USD shipped to the States.

Interesting - that would almost match the capacity of a DVD. I won't hold my breath waiting for the next upgrade to MiniDisc, but we would all welcome something new as long as the backwards compatibility is retained.

Um.....What happened to my battery?

This is yet another reason whay I despise charging cradles, it's best to invest in a wall charger. You were lucky you could remove the overcharged gum without dissecting your MT877. If this wasn't an MDC purchase, I'd say you may have got a fake. -
For a measely $2, if you get a month of good listening, it's worth it. I wonder if we will ever see a genuine 888 replacement - perhaps the EX90's were meant to be that, but they are completely different types of Fonotopia phones. From my experiences, the erstwhile 888's still sound better than the new EX90's do.
-
Those are *not* the E888SP's by a country mile. They appear to be more like the EX90's. Maybe they are designed to be sold as fake 888's to the unsuspecting public. Whatever floats your boat, they'll probably fall apart after a few days of use if they are Chinese-made junk.

My favourite is the MZ-N910, and it was my first experience with NetMD and SonicStage. Kind of different to hear the OWH thrashing around as transfers were being done. Nice, solid recorder, classic design and superb sound. Sparda, the R909 is not an NetMD unit.
-
It's always wise to post some photos of your unit, helps to sell it.
-
What are your PC's specs?
-
Sounds like the overwrite head is cooked and the unit is a dead duck. Time to look at one of the Hi-MD models, I'd suggest the NH700 if you still want to use a budget recorder.
-
I'm guessing MDC may have had an extended holiday vacation. I see no reason why you cannot contact them, though. This reminds me that I should order a 5-pack of Hi-MD blanks from MDC.........
-
It does sound like the ribbon connector has detached - this was a common problem with the earlier N1's. I doubt if it's economical to repair unless it is a DIY project.
-
Did you see the "System File Writing" flashing after you were done? Can you still play recordings in the MDR? Try another disc. If all of those ideas fail, it sounds like the overwrite head is FUBAR or the ribbon connector is broken. I'd look at another NH700, 2-1/2 years is not so bad for a budget machine.
-
Pushed record button but display keeo pn flashing - No recording at all

It sounds like the ribbon connector that attaches to the recording head has let go plus there are no doubt other serious issues - MDR's are not economical to repair, so start looking at a replacement. I'd look at an NH700 (similar to what you have but it features Hi-MD), still a few kicking around the Web for good prices. -
MiniDisc units are no longer made in Japan, including the flagship models such as the RH1.
