  1. I'm interested too. $160 is pretty affordable.. can you share where this price is available?
  2. I like it that the Onkyo units have digital audio OUT. On a side note, I have had my eye on that iPod dock, will fit rather nicely with my Onkyo receiver
  3. How about this thread that is pinned at the top of the Hi-MD forum?
  4. If that is the case, couldn't they have made UMD in the same form factor, or at least so it could accept Hi-MD discs? I understand that UMD works best for games but the PSP could have been a bonus Hi-MD player. I need the 1GB Memory Stick for movies mostly. A full-size movie at optimal MPEG4 quality would take around 700MB of space. Of course, the PSP will also play back MP3s (& ATRAC hopefully)
  5. I think that Sony already has the technology to make discs more dense. They should've used the same technology used in UMD and made the PSP compatible with Minidisc. That way, everyone would've been exposed to minidisc. Even the 1GB Hi-MD would be way more preferable than the 1GB Memory stick that I have to buy now.. By putting in Hi-MD players in the PSPs Sony could've given the format a shot in the arm - everyone would've been out buying Hi-MD recorders just so they can get data (music, movies) into their PSPs!!
  6. Great find, Kurisu. The ASB1s look like a good fit. I will probably visit my local Best Buy to check them out first hand. My first choice was a pair of bookshelf speakers that reproduced good bass but I didn't find anything that was reasonably priced and so considered buying a subwoofer / small speakers combo. Will post again after checking these speakers out.
  7. The SD-NX10 looks similar to the SD-SG11 but it seems to be of a lighter shade. I am primarily looking at black speakers with a finish that matches the SG11.
  8. Kurisu, I haven't had a chance to register at head-fi - it does look to be useful. I was considering getting a pair of the JBL N24 II speakers ($80 for the pair at Amazon). It looked as though I might still need a subwoofer to get the low end of the sound. The subwoofer I am considering is the Yamaha YST-SW215 (about $125 street) - it seems to be small and effective. A local store here in the Bay Area has the Yamaha NS-6490 on clearance for $40 a pair - these seem to have great reviews and the build quality seems to be good - they lack the low end but then subwoofer should compensate. I will be checking them out tonight or tomorrow.
  9. Thanks, doclloyd. I didn't phrase this too well in my initial post but what I want is something that offers decent sound and also looks good with the SD-SG11 (size, color, finish etc..)
  10. Can anyone suggest a pair of reasonably priced speakers that work well with the Sharp SD-SG11? I've been using a pair of KLHs that really didn't do justice to the unit's sound and would like to upgrade. I use this system in my bedroom and have a budget of under $200; seeing that I can find a decent 5.1 channel receiver / speaker system for about $250 these days.
  11. Amazon has these 4 units available. Prices aren't exceptional but shipping is free and they don't charge tax to CA Prices (as of now) are - MZNH600D - $189.99 MZNHF800 - $237.49 MZNH900 - $284.99 MZNH1 - $379.99
