    Sonic Stage 2.2

There is note on the Japanese support website for version 2.1.02...is the connect version 2.2 or 2.1.02? http://www.sony.jp/support/p-audio/content...101_updata.html If you put that link into babelfish you will get a rough translation.
  2. Hmmmm I wouldn't think it would be a show stopper if you couldn't remove your disc while it was in the stand. Given the trade off between being able to use USB through the stand and not being able to eject the disc, I would take that trade off.
  3. Maybe I'm missing something, but why would it be bad to not be able to open the NH1 while in the cradle? I think it's more of a disaster not to have this feature than to make users eject the device to change discs.
  4. Off topic, could you use EAC to get copies of copy protected CDs instead?
  5. The prototypes had a USB interface on the cradle, but in the end, about 1 month or so before actual final release, they changed the spec so that you can't transfer while the unit is in the cradle. When its connected via USB, the NH1 is powered by the USB but it doesn't charge the battery.
  6. I do remember a screen capture of a HD1 when it was being demosntrated at release showing a "firmware upgrade" directory in windows explorer when the HD1 was connected to the PC. I can't remember where that photo is, but it definitely existed.
  7. Check that the hold button on the remote is not switched on?
  8. According to SonicStage FAQs on the Sony support site, when you make a recording in SS, Type-S is disabled. I know that Type-S is a decoding thing, but maybe something in the Atrac file says to the MD Player, do not use Type S during playback as this originated from SonicStage. This could account for a lot of the difference in playback quality.
  9. You can send a .omg or .oma file to someone, zipped or non-zipped, but you won't be allowed to play it back on another computer.
  10. It's not possible to share the files due to copy protection put in ATRAC files.
  11. If you have .omg files, you can convert them to .oma files in SS 2.1 by using the File Conversion Tool. Tools Menu | Start File Conversion Tool
  12. Well the irony is that if Sony released their software earlier, everyone would be happy with Wave convertor that only let them convert to wav files which were recorded using MIC. Now we have a program which lets you convert all oma files.
  13. ^ I suspect this is related to my observation where Windows Media Player plays the file, but at the very end of the file comes across something that makes it think it's not a WAV file. Maybe Marc's program when it adds on the last bit of converted WAV doesn't "close" the file correctly. I don't know what the right techo speack is, but you get my drift?
  14. Download the SonicStage version from www.connect.com It is in English and is fully functional. Just ignore the Connect music store if you don't want to buy music from it.
  15. Addendum: the only thing I noticed is that at the end of the playback of the WAV, WMP says "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type...etc" But this is at the very very last second (or less) after it has played the file.
  16. I was a little sceptical, but I tried Marc's program on a 3:15 oma pop song, and it ripped to wav very very quickly. I listened to it, and expected to hear some stuttering, or pops, and I could hear .... NOTHING apart from the music! It was a perfect rip! Congratulations!
  17. This doesn't work as you can't add an uploaded file to the playlist before the Audio CD gets burnt. If you try to add the file it says that it can't be copied due to copyright restrictions.
  18. MDFreak: In your Hi-MD preview a few months ago, you mentioned that the Sony Staff at the Sony Spring Show also referred to some Extension software that would allow burning of uploaded tracks to CD. Have you been able to use your Sony contacts to ask them where this software is, or if it will ever be released?
  19. I think this is a standard audio cable that you can find at Dick Smith and other places. Essentially, the NH1 will be sending an analog signal out of the player, and the sound card of the PC records it and saves it to your PC as a wav file.
  20. I wonder if there is a flag in the OpenMG file that tells the Hi-MD player not to use its special Type S decoding when playing it back. According to the Sony UK website, that;s what it sounds like.
  21. I noticed this FAQ on the Sony UK support website. Could this be the reason why some people have noticed that music recorded directly onto the Hi-MD sounds better than that recorded using SonicStage? Q3 : What is the difference between directly recording from a CD player and recording using the SonicStage software application? When you use SonicStage you can record at high speed; however, "TYPE-S" is not supported for the transferred (checked-out) stereo music. http://www.sonydigital-link.com/DNA...en&m=hi-md#Q2_3
  22. Interestingly, in HK, the SonyStyle store and Sony magazine don't list or display the non Hi-MD models any more. Maybe in Japan they want to cover the lower price-points with Net MD and premium price Hi-MD.
  23. I am in HK, but I can't read or input Chinese. I have a NH1 but I don't use the chinese character function. Is the NH1 the first Minidisc player than can support Chinese? Maybe since the NH900 model is not sold in Japan, they did not give it support for Chinese characters.
  24. What is the model number of the remote control? If it has a "K" in it, it should be able to display chinese characters. How do you title your music? Using the Chinese version of SonicStage? Have you considered taking your NH900 to the SonyStyle store in Causeway Bay and asking them how to make the Chinese work?
  25. NHF900 doesn't exist. A NH900 does exist.
