    Dilema

Possibly, possibly not. I have been getting very good battery life out of my NH1, usually greater than what is stated in the manual. Best thing to do is ask NH900 owners what real-life battery life they are getting.

    Dilema

The NH900 comes with an attachable external AA battery case. Therefore you can run the 900 on AA batteries as well as with the internal rechargeable battery.
  3. Did you transfer to a MD or to a CD?
  4. I also have a VAIO. When the CD Walkman version of SS 2.0 came out, it was not possible to burn CDs unless you had a VAIO. There is a registry hack available which got around that. However, that hack is no longer necessary as the Connect version of SS 2.0 allowed CD burning on non-Vaios. But it seems that burning of uploaded tracks is still not possible regardless of the fact that I am using a VAIO. Would love to hear if anyone else has a different experience.
  5. Do you think the EX71s give better isolation than D22 eggos?

    Dilema

The NHF800 is much better looking than the NH600. If looks play into it, then get the 800, esp since its cheaper. It all boils down to whether you can bear living with the remote. If you already have the NHF800's remote via an old NetMD unit, and can bear to live with it, then get the NH700 which is the same unit as NHF800 minus the tuner remote.
  7. Why is one person's opinion discountable vs another person's? You may think he is inexperienced, but this person is simply expressing his own opinion and his experience. Just because you may think that he is not an expert, doesn't mean that he can't contribute.
  8. So I guess no advance on the unlocking of uploaded files?
  9. This is the thread I started on the T Board. I don't see why it's not possible. Anyone have any thoughts? When I have some time, I might start going through the Access database and see what I can find. http://www.minidisct.com/forum/showthread....&threadid=24359
  10. Not sure which firmware upgrades you are referring to, but I bought a NH1 yesterday and the 40EL remote works perfectly in the NH600D. 3-line display, and fully functional. The only thing that doesn't work is that you can't get to the "Menu" from the remote. If it works with the 600D, I would be betting that it's almost guaranteed to work with other Hi-MD models.
  11. Remember that this functionality is new to SonicStage. Given Sony's past record in creating software, it wouldn't surprise me that the upload function is buggy.
  12. I also find it annoying that you need to press pause before you can scan through a track, and you can't hear the track while its scanning. I am new to MD, but this is a departure to the usual normal Sony CD Walkman style of being able to scan through a track easily.
  13. Is Hi-LP really Joint Stereo ? I thought only LP4 was.
  14. You really think there are discernible differences in the codec? Now I have to convert my collection again??
  15. When I ask the board to show me all new posts since last visit, it shows me the appropriate list. However, if I read one of them, then hit my "Back" button, quite often, it will refresh the list and then say "No matching posts for search criteria" or something like that. Sometimes if the l;ist doesn't get refreshed, but I click on the icon that takes you to the first unread post, it will say "Nothing meets criteria" again. I think if possible, can we have the board be a little more leniant in what it considers the last visit to the board? It must be interpreting my Back/Forwards as new visits to the board.
  16. I tried this when I was in Japan - the only thing really going for it is a fantastic form factor. Very sexy looking device. But the menus etc make it hard to use.
  17. Have you seen the Hi-MD in grey market stores in HK? Can you let me know where and which stores you have seen in?
  18. Looks much classier than the 600D that I have.
  19. Does the NHF800 come with SonicStage 2.0 or 2.1?
  20. Wow - maybe you will be the first person in the world to get a NH900!
  21. Does anyone know if the MZ-NH900 LCD on the main body is backlit?
  22. I agree with jadeclaw - I think most people who are going to be recording will either use PCM or Hi-SP. And I think most people who would want to edit their recordings would prefer to edit the WAV rather than edit using a MP3 format. It's like the .jpg vs .psd (photoshop) argument - you edit your photos in a format that doesn't have lossy compression so that you don't lose quality with each save.
  23. What mode was your music recorded in? If it was Hi-SP, then you will get reduced battery life. Also, was your Ni-MH new or old? Ni-MHs need a few cycles to get to full life, and at the end of their life they have reduced life as well.
  24. They do share their experience. Just as Camrys benefit from Lexus designs, Sony lower end models benefit from Sony's (not so successful) competition in the higher end hi-fi market. This is my point exactly. These newer smaller companies have produced products with great feature sets, which Sony should have done. But what the new players don't have is experience in audio reproduction. From my comparisons of Hi-MD and iPod, their respective compressions are not ideal. But Sony takes crap source material and makes the most of it. Then to be fair, let's see Portal Player compare against these big boys too. I think you'd agree the results wouldn't be favourable.
